be until 2013.

Please hire consultants to help you in this process. They can help with:

Testing

Deltek has done 20,000 hours of testing, and has test plans for many

common configurations

Costpoint 7, like any software product, will still have defects

Your data and business processes are likely to be unique Please plan on testing all of your normal business processes Please plan on testing for exceptions and unusual cases too

The more complete that your test plans are, and the sooner that those

test plans are run, the more time we will have to work together to find

solutions.

Database – Common Issues

Make sure you have the latest software Make sure you have internet connectivity Check the installation log files for a successful upgrade Take a backup after a successful upgrade even in a test

environment If there is a failure at a later stage, it will be faster to restore the

upgraded database than to go through the upgrade again

Application – Common Issues

The Costpoint 7.0 WebLogic application server Hostname cannot contain any underscores

The install creates a share of your Costpoint 7.0 Deltek directory ( \\Deltek ). In order for the Report Server (Actuate) and Web Server (IIS) to communicate with the Application Server (Weblogic) this directory must be shared with Co-Owner ( Full Control) rights.

The install creates a new User Group, CostpointToolsGroup, and gives this group full sharing and security rights on the application directory \\Deltek and full security rights on the \\Oracle\Middleware12.1.1 directory.

Reporting – Common Issues

The Costpoint 7.0 Actuate report server must start with an alphabetic character (A-Z, a-z) and can be a combination of alphanumeric characters and an underscore (for example, Report_Tier_1)

Page 28: Deltek Insight 2012: Preparing for Success with Costpoint 7

Web Tier – Common Issues

Before starting the installation: Configure Microsoft’s IIS for Costpoint 7 Follow all instructions Add role services Ensure that this process has been completed successfully.

Make sure you can access the application directory that was created during the Application Tier installation. If it is not able to import report files from the \\DELTEK directory it will fail to complete the install.

The install also creates a share of your Costpoint 7.0 Costpoint directory (C:\Deltek\Costpoint\70\applications or, if upgrading from Costpoint Web 6.1 SP2 IIS, C:\Deltek\Costpoint). In order for the Application Server (WebLogic) to deploy hot fixes and updates, this directory must be shared with Co-Owner (Full Control) rights.
