The Convention theme was Lead, Serve, Impact and wow, it did have an impact!! Friday morning started with a pre-conference -"Designing Leadership for Women". June Atkinson, State Superintendent, Alpha Omicron, gave the keynote address "What Was I Thinking". Great panelists followed her. Friday evening, Reinette, representing Region VI, was presented with the Golden Key Award for service to DKG, her Chapter, and the Lee County community. Delta Rho received awards for our Newsletter and Chapter Achievement. Coach Sylvia Hatchell, UNC-CH,gave a rousing presentation. Saturday included a business meeting, informative breakout sessions, and greetings from Dr. Beverly Helms, International Representative. We met our latest Eta State scholarship recipient and heard progress reports from those who have DKG/Eta State scholarships. We also heard from Tyronna Hooker , NC TOY, Exceptional Ed teacher from Graham Middle School. She gave a moving presentation that ended with a standing ovation. President, Linda Little was presented with The Order of the Longleaf Pines Award. Sunday morning we attended the Ceremony of Remembrance for our deceased sisters. This is always a very special service. Next year in Charlotte

It's the Law. It's Right. Teaching with Technology and Complying with the Americans with Disability Act In March, Durham Technical Community College hosted a conference entitled Creating an Accessible Course for distance learning administrators across North Carolina. Central Carolina Community College was represented there. The conference, while designed for distance learning directors, had a message valuable for all educators who integrate technology into their teaching. It is critical, for example, that teachers using websites for online instruction or to supplement traditional classroom learning ensure the content is accessible to all students. The Americans with Disability Act requires it. It's the law. And, of course, as educators, we know it's also right to equip all students for success. Topics at the conference included Fundamentals of and Designing for Accessibility, Selecting Accessible Online Content, Creating Accessible Content with Office 2010, and Creating Accessible Videos and Podcasts. Contact Bianka Stumpf for more information on resources for Creating an Accessible Course for Distance Learning
