Spring Forward…

Fall Back

Founder’s Day

The Delta Omicron chapter celebrated the founding of our fraternity on January 27 with brunch at our chapter house. We welcomed alumnae and

active members in celebration of our bonds of sisterhood and the first Greek-letter fraternity known among women.

A special thanks goes to our house mother, Ms. Kate and Alumnae Liaison Elisabeth Ann Gabriel for organizing such a fabulous event!

Delta Omicron had a very busy Fall semester! From recruiting 120 new

members to raising over $700 for CASA, we would consider our first semester a

great success!

Some highlights from the Fall include Initiation, Kickball for CASA, the Tacky

Christmas date party, and Homecoming Week.

Dog Days

The brothers of Delta Sigma Phi and sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta co-hosted the Dog Days event on March 14th, 2014 to benefit the Humane Society of West Alabama.

Dog Days was held at the Delta Sigma Phi house and featured food, live music and puppies! The Humane Society brought in dogs for adoption. Guests were also welcomed to bring their own dogs to join in on the fun!

The Human Society of West Alabama is an all-volunteer, no-kill animal adoption and rescue agency. Dog Days raised money to support the volunteers in caring for neglected animals while finding them homes. To donate and learn more about the

Elisa Richards, CEO

“I can’t imagine where I would be today without my internship with Disney, because not only did it help me grow

as an individual, I also became more passionate about everything in life!”

Introducing Elisa Richards: Delta Omicron’s newest Chief Executive Officer!

Elisa Richards is a junior majoring in public relations from Trussville, Ala.

Before Richards became involved with Kappa Alpha Theta, Richards participated in an internship with the Walt Disney World Resort. After her internship, Richards still remains involved with Disney and she is now a campus recruiter for the company.

Richards became involved with Kappa Alpha Theta first as the Chief PanHellenic Officer, where she learned time-management, organization, and teamwork. This position became a stepping-stone for her new position as Kappa Alpha Theta’s Chief Executive Officer.

As CEO, Richards’ goal is to remain approachable to everyone; chapter members, alumni, and other Greek community members. The CEO strives to encourage chapter members to get more involved within the Greek community. She is looking to alumnae and current members for strong growth of the chapter this year.

Richards said her fondest Kappa Alpha Theta memory is when she first moved into the house. Living in the Kappa Alpha Theta house has provided her with so much laughter, Richards said.

After her time at The University of Alabama, Richards hopes to return to the Walt Disney World Resort to utilize her public relations degree.

Tacos for CASA

In 2013 we raised $6,500 for CASA and we hope to increase that amount this year! We

appreciate your support!

Taco’s Success

The members of the University of Alabama’s Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority are proud to host our annual Tacos for CASA philanthropy event. On Saturday, April 5, 2014 we will be hosting a Mexican fiesta at the Kappa Alpha Theta house to raise money for our national philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). All of the money raised will go towards the CASA support system in Birmingham and will help designate abused and neglected children to caring families. The event will begin at 5:00 pm and will last until 8:00 pm. Wristbands are $5 per person and you can pre-purchase them through any one of our members or purchase them at the door the day of the event. The band Union Station will be performing on our front porch and we will have all you can eat tacos and refreshments as well.
