Celebrating 65 years….If they could see us now!

In the summer of 1949 a group of real estate brokers, headed up by Pittsburg’s Vernon Rouner was issued a charter from the National Association of Real Estate Boards to become the Eastern Contra Costa Board of REALTORS®.

Rouner, along with 11 other Real Estate Brokers had been working to have their own real estate board and now it was a reality. They now had the jurisdiction over the use of the trademark “REALTOR®” and also the right to require all Brokers within the boundaries of Eastern Contra Costa to join with them if they wanted to become Realtors. Eastern Contra Costa County was a very rural area with three cities. Pittsburg, Antioch and newly incorporated Brentwood. The Brokers came from all areas of the county. Its population was a tenth of what it is today and home prices were ridiculously low.

Acknowledging its geography in 1988, the board changed its name to the Delta Association of REALTORS®.

With determined commitment and adherence to ethical principles the association grew to a total of over 1300 members at its recent peak.

Even with the reduction of members it still over 800 strong. We have made tremendous progress to remain relevant to our members.

The industry has changed dramatically, and so have the needs of membership. The Delta Association is constantly reviewing and remodeling so that we remain a strong and vibrant force for REALTORS® and members of our communities

We think ahead and strive for creative and innovative programs for our members. Our mission is to promote ethics and the success of our members. The mission drives all of our decisions. Members can count on the association

leaders to think ahead and work to deliver the right mix of products and services that increase the value each member derives from the association.

Like Southwest Airlines, we know there are other associations you can choose to belong, and we are proud and happy that you choose us.
