EncryptionAppAssure 5 provides built-in encryption for data-at-rest at line speed using 256-bit advanced encryption standard (AES).

Retention policiesRetention policies can be customized for different business and compliance requirements without compromising the availability and the integrity of the backups.

Virtual standbyCreate and maintain an up-to-date virtual standby machine for fast disaster recovery for all of your Windows workloads including Exchange, SharePoint and SQL. The bootable virtual machine is an exact clone of the production server as of the last snapshot.

Fail-over and fail-backAppAssure 5 supports fail-over and can recover instances from replicated machines and immediately commence protection on the failed-over machines. Once the primary site is restored, the core can “fail-back” protection to machines at the primary site.

Long-term data retention

ArchivingAppAssure 5 archiving feature enables long-term data retention for SLA and regulatory compliance. The backup archives can be stored on low-cost storage. Archive data is deduplicated, compressed and encrypted, and spans across multiple devices.

Application recoveries

Incremental forever backups for virtual and physical serversAfter a base image snapshot has been established, AppAssure 5 uses an incremental-forever approach, moving only data blocks that have changed, making AppAssure’s back up process the fastest and most resource-efficient on the market today.

Support for Microsoft applicationsAppAssure 5 detects the presence of Microsoft Exchange and SQL with respective databases and log files. It automatically groups these volumes with dependency for comprehensive protection so you can ensure successful granular and complete application recoveries.

Clustering supportAppAssure adds significant clustering support for VMware and Hyper-V environments to meet the backup needs of mid-size and larger companies. Support is now available for database availability groups, single copy clusters, SQL single copy clusters.

PowerShell scriptingA comprehensive client SDK for PowerShell scripting enables administrators to automate administration and management of AppAssure 5 resources by direct or scripted commands.

License portalThe AppAssure 5 licensing portal provides an easy-to-use tool for downloading, deploying, activating, viewing, and managing licenses.

Event log monitoring/managementAppAssure 5 allows administrators to create automated server, task or event notifications for ongoing tasks. These are delivered to administrators using mail or sent to a syslog server.
