Sainsbury’s Greenwich
Located in Greenwich, Sainsbury’s new retail store
boasts an impressive design which encompasses
steel and glass. Eurobond was required to design
and manufacture composite panels that would
integrate well with the design as well as offering
fire resistance against internal and external fire
attack thus protecting the building and stock
from the threat of attack from arson. Rockspan
Extra™ was used for this project as it satisfied the
requirements set by the client.
Rockspan Extra is the cladding of choice for
a further 22 planned Sainsbury’s stores being
developed over the next year. Some of the
stores have also chosen to use the Eurobond
Firemaster™ range for internal use.
Big Yellow Edmonton, London
Big Yellow has established itself as the leading self
storage brand in London and the South of England. It
has now embarked on an expansion plan to cover the
rest of Britain. To date, Eurobond has clad all 49 of their
currently open stores and is the chosen cladding for any
future developments.
The Big Yellow Self Storage Company used Eurobond’s
Europanel Lite™ panels as the cladding of choice for its
Edmonton depot and for a further 25 planned buildings
around the country over the next two years. Europanel
was specified by the architects for its fire rating which
fulfilled insurers’ and the end client’s requirements.
The resistance to fire and recyclable properties of this
product made it an ideal choice.

According to David Scanlon, Partner, at
the Mountford Pigott Partnership the
reason for the specification is simple:
“Premiums in the reinsurance market
increased some years ago for properties
using cladding with PIR or PUR cores.
It therefore made sense to specify fire
resistant products from the outset that
met with insurers’ requirements and did
not penalise clients in the long term.”
Casa Julia Braintree Essex
Case Julia is a 3,600m2 wine warehouse in Essex
supplying to restaurants and wholesale businesses
around the country. Rockspan™ in Corus
Colorcoat® PVDF Metallic Sliver was specified due
to its fire performance, offering protection against
both internal and external sources of fire. Thanks to
the spanning capabilities of the panel, the rear wall
of the warehouse has been clad with a smooth,
even surface that can be easily maintained, adding
an aesthetically pleasing feature to the design.

Grundon Lakeside
Europanel Extra™ composite panels were specified for the Grundon Waste Management Plant in Lakeside, Colnbrook, the new state-of-the-art plant is the major part of the £160 million redevelopment of an existing waste processing facility.
Energy from Waste technology is a form of recovery producing renewable energy and is complimentary to high levels of recycling. It can help deliver a reduced carbon footprint and improves resource efficiency, while helping local authorities to meet landfill diversion targets forming an important part of waste management strategies.
Near Heathrow Airport, it is the first such scheme to be granted planning consent since the Government announced its new Waste Strategy in May 2000. The Colnbrook plant will process 440,000 tones of waste each year producing enough electricity for 30,000 households. The scheme comprises of an incinerating facility and a 380sqm visitor centre. Due to the nature of its operation fire safety was a key focus throughout the buildings design. Eurobond panels were incorporated into the design as an integral element of the buildings fire engineering performance

The £5.8billion scheme saw the development of a 28,000 square
metre depot that provides housing, servicing and maintenance
facilities for Eurostar’s fleet of high speed trains. Central to the
design strategy was the use of some 12,000 square metres of
Eurobond Rockspan Extra™ composite panelling to clad the
steel superstructure. The panels not only satisfy stringent fire
performance requirements but also provided the facades
with an impressively flat and lightweight appearance.
This new Stadium provides a very unique home to FA Cup finalists Cardiff
City along with rugby giants Cardiff Blues. The bespoke 150mm thick
Europanel™ system was specified for both its aesthetic and functional
capabilities. A bespoke blend of multiple Corus Colorcoat® pre-finished
steel in seven different shades has been arranged to compliment the club
colours. The cladding’s smooth and even surface coupled with Europanel’s
secret-fix joint ensures a perfect finish to this landmark development.
As a Cardiff based manufacturer Eurobond were extremely pleased to
be specified as the cladding specialist for this project. The benefits of
our panel system have ensured a safe and environmentally responsible
building has been provided for thousands of Cardiff City fans.

Committed to our Customers
“From the value engineering point of view we wanted
to achieve the biggest possible spans with the minimum
amount of steelwork – whilst achieving fire performance
to Crown Standards. We have really exploited this
benefit on phases two and three of the project and are
generally spanning six metres from column to column –
in some cases we are even spanning seven metres.
We didn’t want to use corrugated metal as we wanted
a crisp, clean appearance from an architecturally-flat
panel, which Eurobond provided.”
JOHN POOLE, StRIdE tREgLOWN

“Although we specified Firemaster™ panels for the
internal partition walls of the centre, we still needed to
ensure they were capable of withstanding the harshest
of weather conditions, as for periods of time within the
construction process they have remained exposed.
With adversely high levels of rainfall and winds reaching
up to 150 miles an hour, it’s a real test of a product’s
integrity. With every building component having to be
transported up the mountain on the Snowdon Mountain
Railway any damaged panels caused a real disruption –
we therefore wanted a product that was as tough and
durable as possible.”
dEREk CAMPbELL-LEE, CAMPbELL-LEE CONtRACtS

“this was a very complex job and Europanel™ was
primarily chosen to meet the aesthetics of the project.
the main feature on the building is a huge window pod
that runs down 2/3rds of the elevation. At the time of
design, we were unsure of how to incorporate this.
We asked Eurobond how it could be done – Eurobond
didn’t know at the time but found a way!”
