Chidambaram visits Jharkhand, Odisha to review Maoist operations

Sonia hits out at Team Anna, commits Lokpal

Ranchi/Bhubaneswar, Nov 9 (IANS) Union Home Minister P. Chidam-baram Wednesday visited the Mao-ist-affected states of Jharkhand and Odisha to review operations against the rebels and also implementation of the developmental schemes in areas hit by Leftwing extremism.

In Ranchi, Chidambaram said he was reasonably satisfied with the im-plementation of Integrated Action Plan (IAP) in Jharkhand’s Maoist districts.

“I am reasonably satisfied with IAP implementation going in Jharkhand districts. More needs to be done. There has been significant success in Maoist operations between June and

October,” Chidambaram told report-ers.

He said “Jharkhand is one of the most Maoist affected states of the country. There are 14 battalions of CRPF and two battalions of Cobra forces are in Jharkhand. There are enough forces to deal with the Maoist menace in the state.”

The meeting was attended by Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, state police Chief G.S. Rath and other senior got officials. Sources said Chidambaram asked the state government to implement central schemes properly in the Maoist af-fected districts.

Chamoli (Uttarakhand)/New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi Wednesday hit out at Team Anna and said the party and the UPA government were com-mitted to a strong anti-corruption ombudsman (Lokpal). Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal expressed hope the bill would be passed in the winter session of parliament.

The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that Gandhi’s comments “reflects their views”.

Welcoming Sonia’s statement, read out in absentia in Chamoli (Utt-

arakhand), Kejriwal expressed hope “the Congress would keep its word and pass the legislation in the winter session starting Nov 22”.

Hitting out at Team Anna for threatening another agitation on the Lokpal bill, Sonia Gandhi said “Corruption cannot be fought by speeches, so I don’t understand why this noise.”

She also reminded Team Anna that “It was the National Advisory Council (NAC) headed by me which had first started public consultations for a Lokpal”.

Mamata calls up Buddha with invite for film fest

Madhu Koda’s aide arrested in Dubai

Congress targets Uttarakhand over Haridwar stampede

Kolkata, Nov 9 (IANS) Breaking the ice after three years, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday personally called up her predecessor and arch-foe Bud-dhadeb Bhattacharjee to invite him to the 17th Kolkata film festival starting Thursday. This is the first time the film festival is being held after Bhattacharjee demitted office following the Left Front’s rout in the April-May assembly elections. The festival is considered Bhattacharjee’s brainchild. Banerjee told Bhat-tacharjee, an avid film buff, “it will make me happy if you come for the inauguration”. However, the former chief minister cited pre-occupation with another programme which will keep him away.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Sanjay Chaudhary, a close aide of jailed former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, was arrested in Dubai Wednesday on an Interpol red corner notice, the CBI said, adding it would initiate steps for his extradition. Chaudhary is ac-cused of investing Koda’s dubious funds by using his contacts in the alleged siphoning of public money.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The Congress Wednesday said the Haridwar stampede, in which at least 20 people were killed, occurred due to insufficient ar-rangements by the Uttarakhand administration. At least 20 people were killed and 40 injured in the stampede that occurred Tuesday when massive crowds had gathered near the Ganges for a religious meet in the temple town.

Notice to CBI on bail plea of Kanimozhi, four others

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Wednesday sought the CBI’s reply by Dec 1 on the bail pleas of DMK MP Kanimozhi and four other accused in the 2G scam and asked the jail officials for a medical report on accused Cineyug Films founder Karim Morani.

A notice was issued to the Cen-tral Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after hearing arguments on behalf of Kanimozhi, Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar, Karim Morani and Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd. directors Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Agarwal.

The court also directed Tihar Jail superintendent to submit a medical report on Morani, who has sought bail on health grounds. Appearing for Kanimozhi, a senior advocate contended bench that the trial court ignored the CBI’s willingness to al-low bail to the five accused.

“A set of accused who came in ap-peal against the trail court bail de-nial order are not made accused in the principle charge sheet, in which former communications minister A. Raja is named,” said the defence counsel.

Mumbai, Nov 9 (IANS) The Bom-bay High Court Wednesday reject-ed the bail application of Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit, one of the prime accused in the Malegaon 2008 blast case, a legal official said.

The court, while rejecting the bail application on grounds that “prima facie material was avail-able against” Purohit, said that a detailed order would be delivered soon, according to advocate Sharif Shaikh, an intervener appearing in the matter on behalf of family members of a victim in the blast.

“The state had opposed the bail plea stating that the investiga-tions into the Malegaon blast was transferred from the state Anti-

Terrorism Squad to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) vide a notification last April,” Shaikh told IANS.

He said the grounds for opposing bail were since the NIA investiga-tions are still continuing, granting bail to Purohit could hamper the ongoing probe into the terror in-cident in the minority-dominated town in Nashik district of north Maharashtra.

Prasad was among 11 accused in the blast case, including Sadhvi Pragnya Singh Thakur. Alleged to be linked to a right-wing organiza-tion, Purohit has been continuously in custody since his arrest for his role in the blast case.

Jammu, Nov 9 (IANS) The Uni-fied Command Wednesday evening asked the two panels looking into the question of revoking the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to “speed up” their recommenda-tions.

The two panels, with two Corps Commanders of the Indian Army, Director General of Police and

Principal Secretary, Home, were constituted in September last year to suggest the areas from where the Disturbed Area Act and AFSPA could be lifted. But the panels were not able to finalise their recommen-dations.

Official sources told IANS at the conclusion of more than three-hour-long meeting of the unified com-

mand held in the civil secretariat and chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior army com-manders, that it has been decided to “speed up the work and make rec-ommendations about the removal of AFSPA as early as possible”.

“However, no deadline has been suggested at the meeting,” the official told IANS.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The Su-preme Court will Nov 18 hear a peti-tion by suspended Indian Police Ser-vice officer Sanjiv Bhatt challenging the Gujarat government’s stand in a trial court which may adversely im-pact him in a 1990 case linked to a suspect’s death in Jamnagar district. An apex court bench said the mat-ter would be listed on its scheduled Nov 18 date after Bhatt’s counsel D. Sharma did not press for a stay of the trial court framing charges. The framing of charges was Tuesday put off by the Gujarat High Court till Nov 21. Sharma told the apex court that the high court had itself extended the stay and thus, there was no immediate need for action.

Vikas Yadav wants four days leave

from jail

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Twenty-year-old Alisha Jose, a bright college student from a middle-class family in Delhi, was coaxed to try a “pill” at a party by her friends around two years ago. Little did she know that it would be her first step towards ruin!

“I was hooked on to drugs after that. I’ve even stolen money from mom and dad to buy drugs...I got into it so deeply that even when I wanted to stop, I was not able to. I got into this mess myself,” Alisha told IANS.

According to sources in the Nar-cotics Control Bureau (NCB), a steep increase in party drugs consumption

has been noticed in met-ros like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, apart from Goa.

As per the World Drug Report (WDR), released by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in 2010, one million heroin addicts have been regis-tered in India.

“We keep raiding cer-tain pockets in Delhi and NCR (Na-tional Capital Region), particularly during festive seasons, and we have

seen youngsters taking these very often,” an NCB official said on condi-tion of anonymity.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) With 63 primary schools in the capital lack-ing drinking water supplies, the civic agency wrote a letter to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednes-day to take the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to task as it is responsible for water supply in over 1,000 MCD schools.

“Due to non-cooperation of the DJB, there are 63 schools out of a total of 1,729 MCD schools where there is no drinking water facility. In these schools, there is even no DJB water connection. The water pipe-

line is also very far away from the school,” Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) education department chairman Mahendra Nagpal wrote in a letter to Dikhsit.

“In some schools where there is connection, the water supply is contaminated, affecting the health of our students. Not only this, the water tankers also come very of-ten. The CM should taken an ac-tion so that the interests of students are taken care of,” Nagpal said to Diksit.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Trav-ellers on the high-speed Airport Metro Express Line (AMEL) will get a 50 percent discount on Guru Purab that is being celebrated to-day, a Reliance Infrastructure of-ficial said.

The offer is available on single journey tokens, not on smart cards and valid only for today. The offer is to facilitate devotees visiting the Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, which is near the Shivaji Stadium Metro station.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday was sur-prised to learn that a Chandigarh resi-dent was getting a salary from the Mu-nicipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) as part of the “ghost employee” scam and told the civic agency to act against officials who colluded with non-exist-ent workers drawing salaries.

Vinay Kumar, a resident of Chan-digarh, figured in a report filed by the Delhi Police before a division bench of Acting Chief Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw in the case.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued no-tice to Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh police on a plea by Vikas Yadav, un-dergoing life imprisonment for the murder of Nitish Katara in 2002, seek-ing four days’ suspension of his sen-tence for signing some legal papers.

Taking note of the counsel’s sub-mission that Vikas Yadav would sign the documents and return to custody, a division bench of Justice S. Ravindra Bhat and Justice Pratibha Rani issued notice to the prosecuting agencies seeking their reply before Nov 22.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the Delhi government to frame within three weeks rules to provide free and compulsory educa-tion to children under the right to education law.

Taking note of an NGO’s plea seeking framing of rules to provide free and compulsory education, acting Chief Jus-tice A.K. Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw had earlier directed the Delhi government’s Principal (Secretary) Edu-cation Rakesh Mohan to be personally present before it.

Mohan was personally present in the court. His counsel informed the bench that the final rules had been approved by the Delhi cabinet on Nov 4 and sent to the lieutenant governor for assent on Nov 8. These may be notified within three weeks.

France, Germany call for unprecedented sanctions against Iran Paris, Nov 9 (IANS) France Wednesday called for "sanctions of unprecedented proportions" against Iran after the release of an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report on the coun-try's nuclear programme, Xinhua reported.

The IAEA report "reinforced the deep concern of France with regard to Iran's nuclear program," accord-ing to a statement released by the French Foreign Ministry on behalf of Foreign Minister Alain Juppe.

The statement noted that Iran "has sought and very likely contin-ues in seeking to develop atomic weapons under cover of an alleg-edly peaceful civilian program".

"If Iran refuses to comply with the demands of the international community and refuses any seri-ous cooperation, we stand ready to adopt, with all countries that fol-low, the sanctions of unprecedent-ed magnitude," the minister said.

Iran has long insisted that its nu-

clear activities are solely for peace-ful purposes such as meeting the ever-growing energy needs.

Even Germany has called for further sanctions against Iran after the IAEA released findings saying Tehran had engaged in projects and experiments for the development of nuclear weapons.

"The German government has been concerned for a long time about the progress of Iran's atomic programme. The content of the (IAEA) report naturally reinforces these worries considerably," Steffen Seibert, spokesman of Chancellor Angela Merkel, was quoted as say-ing by Xinhua.

He said Tehran must return to the negotiating table, be more transparent about its nuclear activ-ities to the world's powers, includ-ing the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany.

He said new sanctions would be "inevitable" in case Iran refused talks.

On the other side, Russia has lashed out at the IAEA's latest re-port on Iran, saying it undermines the international effort to defuse tension around the Islamic repub-lic's nuclear programme and holds it guilty without cause.

The International Atomic Ener-gy Agency (IAEA) report does not contain any new data but is "a com-pilation of known facts that have been purposely twisted and given a political slant", the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

"The authors juggle the facts to create the impression that Iran's nuclear programme has a military component," the statement said.

Iran continued carrying out nu-clear weapons research after 2003, the IAEA said in the report.

Iranian officials slammed the re-port as a distortion of facts aimed at satisfying US political interests.

President Mahmoud Ahmadine-jad called IAEA head Yukiya Ama-no a US puppet.

18 buildings collapse in Turkey quake Ankara, Nov 10 (IANS) At least 18 buildings, including two hotels, col-lapsed in Turkey's Van province after a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck on Wednesday night, officials said.

The quake jolted the province at 9.23 p.m., according to Turkey's Kan-dilli Observatory and Earthquake Re-search Institute.

Many people were trapped under the collapsed buildings and rescue workers were still searching through the rubble, Xinhua reported citing

Turkish private NTV news channel. The six-storied Bayram Hotel col-

lapsed in the in the centre of Van city in the province, and 11

people have been pulled out of the rubble, it said.

On Oct 23, a 7.2-magnitude quake shook Van province, killing at least 605 people and injuring over 4,150 others.

On Aug 17, 1999, two powerful earthquakes, measuring 6.7 and 7.4 on the Richter scale, jolted northwestern

and western Turkey, killing around 18,000 people.

Pakistan-India dialogue increases SAARC significance: Gilani and India hopes for

free trade in South Asia Islamabad, Nov 9 (IANS) The dia-logue process between Pakistan and India has increased the importance and effectiveness of the SAARC fo-rum, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Wednesday.

He was speaking to the media be-fore departing on a three-day visit to the Maldives to attend the 17th SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) summit.

Gilani said SAARC had earlier been losing its effectiveness and could not move forward due to tense ralations between the two countries.

The SAARC forum's value and importance have now increased manifold since Islamabad and New Delhi started discussing their mu-tual disputes on the dialogue table, the official APP news agency quot-ed Gilani as saying.

"Naturally, Pakistan and India have a dialogue procedure under which everything is going in the right direction," he responded to a question.

Gilani is expected to meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday on the sidelines of the summit.

The Pakistani prime minister is heading a 12-member delegation to the SAARC summit that in-

cludes Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Communications Minister Arbab Alamgir and Ports and Ship-ping Minister Babar Khan Ghori, among others.

A day before the two-day SAARC summit kicks off in this southern-most Maldivian island, India on Wednesday hoped for progress on liberalization of trade in the region and struck an optimistic note, say-ing it will work to promote a "South Asian identity."

In his departure statement in New Delhi before he headed for the Maldives, Manmohan Singh said India "expect to move forward the process of liberalization of trade under the South Asian Free Trade Area Agreement (SAFTA).

The prime minister stressed that India will work "to promote region-al integration as well as the devel-opment of a South Asian identity at the forthcoming summit".

He will highlight these themes at the summit plenary Thursday. Amid skepticism about the future of the regional grouping, which some have been prone to dismiss as a talk shop, Manmohan Singh stressed that SAARC has estab-lished itself as "the leading mecha-nism for regional cooperation in South Asia".

Outgoing Prime Minister George Papandreou, opposition leader Antonis Samaras and President Karolos Papoulias met in the presidential palace. The talks would continue Thursday morning.

Earlier on Wednesday, Papandreou announced he would step down as prime minister to make way for a new coalition government to save the country from bankruptcy.

The coalition government would comprise Papandreou's PASOK party and the opposition New Democracy party.

Moody’s downgrades Indian banks, stocks tumble

Mumbai, Nov 9 (IANS): Global rat-ing agency Moody’s downgraded the outlook for Indian banks saying the asset quality of various lenders could deteriorate in the next 18 months given high inflation levels, monetary tightening and rising interest rates. The news sent banking stocks tum-bling at Indian stocks markets with the banking index at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) closing 2.62 percent lower. All 14 banks, which are part of the banking index, ended in the red.

The rating agency changed its out-look for India’s banking sys-

tem to negative from sta-ble. The

outlook applies for the next 12-18 months. “India’s economic momen-tum is slowing because of high infla-tion, monetary tightening, and rapidly rising interest rates,” said Vineet Gup-ta, Moody’s vice president and senior analyst. “At the same time, concerns have emerged over the sustainability of the recovery in the US and Europe, and rise in the borrowing program of the Indian government, which could drain funds away from private credit market,” Gupta was quoted as saying while releasing Moody’s latest out-look for the Indian banking system. Moody’s rates 15 commercial banks in India, including biggies like State Bank of India (SBI) and private lender ICICI Bank, which together account

for about 66 percent of the system’s total assets

as of March 2011. Indian banking is

d o m i n a t e d

by state-owned lenders which account for around 75 percent of the market in asset terms. It had in October down-graded the rating of the country’s largest lender SBI. Bankers, however, did not agree with the Moody’s down-grade. Moody’s also said bank loans could slow to 16-18 percent in the cur-rent fiscal, compared to 21 percent in 2010-11, as banks would come under pressure from rising deposit rates as a result of the de-regulation on savings deposits by the Reserve Bank of India. At stock markets, the downgraded resulted in large-scale selling in bank-ing stocks. SBI was the biggest loser, shedding over 6.7 percent to close at Rs.1,862.50, while another state-run lender Bank of Baroda followed close, losing over 3.6 percent and shut shop at Rs.789.10. Major private lenders ICICI Bank and Axis Bank too closed 2.16 percent at Rs.861.75 and 2.47 per-cent lower at Rs.1,112.05 respectively.

‘Coal to become top fuel by 2035’

London , Nov 9 (IANS): Coal will overtake oil as the largest fuel in the global energy mix by 2035, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said here Wednesday. Coal has met almost half of the increase in global energy demand over the last dec-ade, according to the IEA’s World Energy Outlook 2011. “Maintain-ing current policies would see coal use rise by a further 65 percent by 2035, overtaking oil as the largest fuel in the global energy mix,” Xin-hua reported quoting the report. “The main market for traded coal continues to shift from the Atlantic

to the Pacific, but the scale and di-rection of international trade flows are highly uncertain, particularly after 2020,” it said. The IEA works to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for its 28 members and publishes World Energy Out-look every year.

Kerala pavilion wins award at London travel mart

Club of Rome’s Indian chapter launched

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 9 (IANS): The Kerala pavilion, por-traying a slice of the pristine beauty of God’s Own Country, bagged the best stall award at the prestigious World Travel Market 2011 in Lon-don. Kerala Tourism, which set up the huge pavilion, spread over 117 sq m on the theme ‘Backwater with Chinese fishing net’, won the prize in the category of Best Stand Feature.

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS): The Indian chapter of international think tank Club of Rome, which deals with various developmen-tal issues, was launched Wednes-day and will be headed by Tata Consultancy Services vice chair-man S. Ramadorai. “The Indian Association of the Club of Rome will address the most pressing concerns of India, and the world, such as food security, the chal-lenge of water and the need to generate ‘green jobs’ and ‘green skills’,” said Ramadorai, who also serves in the Prime Minister’s National Skill Development Council.

New Delhi/Mumbai, Nov 9 (IANS): In a major relief to Lavasa Corpo-ration, the environment ministry Wednesday gave conditional clear-ance to the first phase of the Rs.3,000 crore Lavasa hill city project near Pune in Maharashtra. The Lavasa Corporation Ltd (LCL) welcomed

Euro falters over Italy, Greece political uncertainty

Moscow, Nov 9 (IANS/RIA Novo-sti): The euro fell against the US dol-lar Wednesday and European markets slumped with it, amid lingering un-certainties over who will lead a new Greek government and Italian bond yields entering dangerous territory. The yield on Italy’s benchmark 10-year sovereign bond rose to a record 7.25 percent Wednesday morning, above the seven percent level that triggered bailout requests from Portugal, Ireland and Greece. Italy’s state debt stands at about 1.9 trillion euros ($2.6 trillion). Some analysts suspect that Italy’s debt

problem is simply too big to bail out. The Euro had fallen by over one-and-a-half cents against the dollar, to $1.3664 by 10.30 GMT from 1.3834 at Tues-day’s close. “The rotation in the political elite of Greece and Italy is keeping investors nervous, prompting them to invest in safer assets to live through the period of uncertainty,”

said BroCo brokerage analyst Alexei Matrosov. On Monday Greek Prime

Minister George Papandreou agreed to resign, paving

the way for a coalition government of his center-left PASOK party and the cent-er-right opposition New Democracy

party. Early elections have been scheduled

for Feb 19, 2012. A coali-tion government will rule the

country until the election.

India to have 2 GW solar power capacity by 2013

Hyderabad, Nov 9 (IANS): India plans to have two gigawatts (GW) of solar power generation capac-ity by March 2013, a top official said Wednesday. The ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) has drawn up plans to increase the capacity to 400 megawatts (MW) by the March 31, 2012 end of current financial year. Bharat Bhargava, director at MNRE and in-charge of solar power projects, told Solarcon India 2011 here Wednes-day that bidding process would be completed by the month end for 350 MW under second batch of projects of first phase of National Solar Mission. The mission is aimed at installing 20 GW of solar power by 2022.

Under the first phase, 1,100 MW power would be produced. Bhargava later told reporters that 218 applica-tions were received for the batch two projects. MahaGenco is setting up 125 MW capacity plant in Maharashtra. Tata Power and Reliance are build-

ing 40 MW plants each to meet their own requirements. He said the cost of installation per MW of solar power had come down from Rs.20 crore to Rs.10 crore. He suggested that Andhra Pradesh come up with its own policy as it has a robust manufacturing in-dustry in Hyderabad. On the land al-

lotment for solar power projects, he said Rajasthan had allotted 8,000 acres of land in deserts while Gujarat has al-lotted 5,000 acres. Bhargava, however, said land would not be an issue once the cost reduces and rooftop plants are taken up on large scale.

the move, saying it was a posi-tive development and came as a reprieve for all stakeholders, including investors and villagers.

When you enter a party filled with your friends or acquaintances, do they all fall silent as if something terrible had happened or does eve-ryone there perk up as if waiting for something exciting to occur?Your thoughts can be incredibly ef-fective. They have an effect on your general attitude. The attitude you carry reflects on your look too un-less, obviously, you’re an awesome actor.Positive thoughts have a filling im-pact. They’re admittedly invigorat-ing. Plus, the people surrounding the individual carrying positive thoughts are commonly energized by this kind of attitude.Negative thoughts however, have a sapping impact on other people. Aside from producing you appear gloomy and sad, negative thoughts can turn a festive gathering into a funeral wake.A positive attitude attracts people just as a negative attitude repels them. People have a tendency to shy

away from those who carry a nega-tive attitude. We may also define attitude as the way of searching in the globe. In the event you pick to concentrate on the negative factors inside the globe, much more or much less you may have a negative attitude brewing up. Even so, should you opt for to con-centrate on the positive points, you might be more likely to carry a posi-tive attitude. You’ve got a lot to acquire from an incredibly positive attitude. For one, studies have shown that a posi-tive attitude promotes improved well being. Those with this type of attitude also have extra pals. Pro-jecting a positive attitude also as-sists 1 to manage tension and trou-bles greater than those that have a negative attitude.A positive attitude begins having a wholesome self-image. When you will adore the way you might be and are satisfied, confident, and self-as-sured, you also make other people

feel exactly the same way.A negative attitude, however, has, needless to say, an opposite impact. So, carrying a negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You really feel poorly about yourself, and you make other people feel exactly the same way.If you would like to have a positive attitude, you must feature whole-some thoughts. This is in all prob-ability quite challenging to do these days considering that, all about us, the media feeds us absolutely noth-ing but negative thoughts. A study shows that for each 14 issues a par-ent says to his or her child, only 1 is positive which can be quite det-rimental to the child while growing up and even in later years. If you would like a healthier outlook in life, you will need to have pleas-ant thoughts, and you need to hear positive issues too. So, what can you do properly, for starters, you could see a funny movie, you could play with young children, invest some

time telling jokes with buddies. All these activities fill you with positive stimuli, which in turn promotes a positive attitude.

Even though it is actually impossi-ble to help keep ourselves from the negative points about us, it is pos-sible to nonetheless carry a positive attitude by focusing on the excellent issues, the positive items in life. This positive attitude you now carry is often of benefit to other indi-viduals. Occasionally when other persons really feel down, the factor persons mostly do is attempt to give them assistance. But from time to time, all they will need is somebody to sit by them, and listen to them. For those who have a positive atti-tude you might have the ability to cheer them up without even getting to say anything. If positive attitude is genuinely ex-cellent, why do men and women opt for to adopt a negative attitude rather 1 who carries a negative at-titude might be truly sending a sig-nal for attention. Prior to you get me wrong, feeling sad, angry, or gloomy just isn’t wrong itself. But dwelling on these thoughts for far too lengthy just isn’t wholesome ei-ther. There’s a time to mourn. In case you are beset by troubles, even inside your darkest hour, concentrate on the great items in life, you can constantly have hope. Complications turn into something it is possible to overcome. You don’t have a lot to shed by adopting a wholesome, positive at-titude. Studies show that such an attitude essentially retards aging, makes you healthier, assists you develop a greater tension coping mechanism, and has a pretty posi-tive impact on everyone you meet. So, what’s not to like about a posi-tive attitude?

Good HealthHappiness cannot be fully experienced without the good health. Beside the latest medicine prescription to gain good health, there are ways in Feng Shui & Vaastu to keep healthy and fit. Good health that leads to a long and stable life is considered a very impor-tant kind of luck. Having prosperity and wealth without health is in fact regarded as a state of deprivation, like having every thing in the world and not being able to enjoy it.For good health the most powerful energy can be found in the central zone of house or work place. The energy here is associated with good physical, spir-itual and emotional health. As per Vaastu this central area is also known as Brahmasthana – the seat of Brahma, who is the god associated with the origin of the universe and a symbol of creation. We should keep this space clear, revering it as sacred, Lord Brahma’s spir-itual power will radiate outward into the rest of the room, bringing happiness, health and prosperity to each of the occupants. The aim of Vaastu & Feng Shui is to balance the energies through controlling your surrounding and the food we eat, secondly basic rule regarding health is to make sure that your home is healthy. The energy in your home needs to be free-flowing and smooth like a river.

Simple Remedies : 1Wind chimes at the entrance are an invaluable aid to strengthening your health.

Sickness generally enters from the main door, and as per feng shui, the energy of disease belongs to the earth element. Earth gives birth to metal and thus weakens the virulence of the illness, so you will be healthier, and by any chance you fall sick, your recovery will be much faster.

2When you have an exposed overhead beam it is important to move your bed out of the way of poisonous Ch’i being sent directly to it. This type of beams in the bed-

room can create a heavy oppressiveness that can cause, headaches, stress and other problems. Move your office table so that you are not sitting directly under the beam. If beams or exposed ductwork hang directly above your desk, you may feel depressed and uninspired in your work. Also make sure that your visitors are not seated under the beam.

3Aromatherapy Burner will have a revitalizing effect on your health if it is used in the center of your house. It doesn’t matter what type of aromatherapy oils you

use as long as you like the fragrance – best used for revitalizing all aspect of health.

4Red and Yellow Flowers placed in a glass or crystal vase in the health area are a useful and simple cure. Use fresh flowers if possible or keep artificial flowers but

not dry flowers. Very effective cure for the stomach and the digestive system.

5To develop more enthusiasm in your changing eating style, try sleeping with your head pointing south-east or east. Sleeping with the head pointing to north – west

will enhance the energy related to greater discipline helping you to stick to your diet programme.

6Purchase fresh ingredients, as processed food has stagnant chi, while fresh foods offer vitality and life-giving energy. Keeping bowl of fresh fruit can attract posi-

tive Ch’i into your kitchen and food.

7 Balance your meat and vegetables intake, and be sure your meals include fresh vegetables. Meat alone is too yang and can upset your stomach or health problems.

Meat represents life taken away, while vegetables offer restoration.

8Bamboo plant symbolizes youth because it is evergreen, it never changes. The tree stands upright and proud through every season and the worst storms, always con-

vinced of its power. It is a symbol of trust and permanence.

Suggestions :House Facing T- Junction the position is like gun being pointed straight at the house. The im-pact on the occupants is not healthy and may suffer poor health. It is suggested to reposition the main door.

Centre of the house is the worst location for the toilet in the home or workplace. It is quite com-mon feature in houses where the builder has considerately installed a toilet under the stairs, but from feng shui point of view this is considered a disaster for health and financial prospects

Spiral Staircase in your home may be quite nice and aesthetically pleasing, it can damage your health, especially if it is in the center of the house or in the Fame Area. If it is located in either place, spiral staircase can contribute greatly to developing heart, circulatory and coronary disease.

hAll the money and wealth in the world cannot buy good health.

Health , Clutter & Five Elements : 1 If the Southwest or Northeast corner is cluttered, the EARTH element is being affected. This

indicates a tendency to become worrisome and leads to ailments relating to stomach, spleen and pancreas.

2 If West or Northwest corner is cluttered, the element METAL is being affected. This can lead to conflicts over issues of control and problems affecting lungs and large intestine.

3 If North corner is cluttered, the element WATER is being affected. This leads to anxiety and problem relating to kidney and bladder. It can also lead to you being inexpressive about your

emotions.

4 If East or Southeast corner is cluttered, WOOD element is affected. This can lead to confusion and indecisiveness in life along with frequent anger and problems relating to liver and gallblad-

der.

5If the South corner is cluttered, FIRE element is affected. This can lead to troubled state of the heart, volatile moods, and problems relating to heart, small intestine, digestion system and im-

mune system.

Take that as some food for thought! Stop being so self centered!

Let your imagination run wild!

Don’t read so much into everything!

You have nothing to be afraid of but yourself!

Recipes are usually very specific about which ingredients are required and their quantities. They tend not to say ‘add a handful of this’ or ‘throw in a bunch of that’. Too much and too little of one ingredient can change the taste and appearance of something dramatically. It’s time to address an imbalance in your world involving effort and faith. The latter seems to be outweigh-ing the former. Increase your faith in something and you’ll see more results for your effort.

March 21 - April 19Aries

The only number to be scared of for obvious reasons is “zero”!

Some things in life appear ‘too good to be true’. We tend to scrutinize them for faults or loopholes. We apply caution where none is needed. On the face of it, something is very appealing but you have reason to believe that pursuing an option or op-portunity is likely to result in disappoint-ment. Trust that what is being presented now is genuine. It has no hidden agenda and wants only for you to recognize what it can offer.

May 21 - June 20Gemini

There are many people around the globe who see the sequence of numbers as symbolic or prophetic and have been busily adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing them in the hope of finding a hidden message or sym-bol contained within. You appear determined to find whatever’s hidden within something you’re being presented with now. You believe there’s more to a situation or arrangement than what appears. Trust that there really is nothing to fear.

Sept. 23 - Oct. 22Libra

The sky speaks clearly of ‘distance’ now. It doesn’t, however, speak as clearly about how distance applies to a current situation or dilemma but it does offer a few hints. Might there be someone you have grown ‘distant’ from, physically or psychologically? Perhaps there’s someone who lives at a distance that is preoccupying your thoughts. Even if distance makes being together in a physical sense im-possible, the sky intends to bring you closer in other ways!

Oct. 23 - Nov. 21Scorpio

We spoke yesterday about ‘returning to your past’. The sky continues to place emphasis on a need to pursue an issue that either remains outstanding or has potential to provide you with answer to a previous crucial question. Your keenness to resolve something is likely to be met with resistance from a certain key individual but provided you pursuit some something is done with compassion and integrity, you will achieve a satisfactory result.

Nov. 22 - Dec. 21Sagittarius

Everyone is busy in their own way. In light of the volume of emails and texts most people receive, it’s easy to overlook someone’s efforts to make contact and there’s someone in your world whom you’re close to who would love nothing more than to speak with, or prefer-ably, see you. This person would very much appreciate any effort you can make to make some time for them. You know who they are. Surprise and delight them by showing them some attention.

Feelings are so much better when they’re mutual!

Only you will know which way to go!

Prepare yourself for the race first and then face the obstacles!

You may not realize it but its all there in your mind!

If you deserve a second chance then so does everyone else!

Either way, you need to stop procrastinating!

Life would be easier if we didn’t have so many systems or protocols. We’ve grown used to adhering to rules surrounding how certain things should be done, what’s acceptable and what’s not. You’re growing weary of an arrangement being done ‘by the book’. You would prefer a more honest and straightforward way of dealing with something or someone. Interestingly, the other party appears to want the same. For now, you can push aside a certain code of conduct.

June 21 - July 22Cancer

Like a jungle explorer wielding a machete, you’re clearing a path in some way now. A way forward with a certain idea or plan is becoming increasingly clearer as a result of your efforts to make it so. Clearing the way and removing obstacles is likely to be trickiest bit. Once done, you’re likely to find events escalate quite quickly to help you achieve a desired result. For now though, there is more clearing to be done.

July 23 - Aug. 22Leo

We all recall how, as children, we spent hours trying to memorize something to be regurgitated the next day at school and awoke the next morning to find we could recite it flawlessly. Our subconscious can be extremely helpful sometimes and an answer to something you’ve pondered for some time is about to become clear. It hasn’t just ‘appeared’. You’ve made it happen and can be reassured it is the answer you need.

Jan. 20 - Feb. 18Aquarius

We all grow struggle sometimes to accept that certain things and, at times, people can no longer offer us what we once needed. Days turn to weeks, weeks to months and sometimes months become years before we make conscious decisions to distance ourselves or remove entirely anything that no longer plays any part in helping us. Trust that what you’re now choosing to distance yourself from or remove really isn’t integral to your needs.

Feb. 19 - March 20Pisces

An end of an era is approaching. You don’t just sense this, you can physically see how something is changing. You’re being re-moved from a comfort zone and whilst this is causing you to feel nervous and apprehen-sive, you’re probably finding the prospect of a fresh start to be appealing and exciting. Do not fear what you know is coming to an end. You’re being set free in an unprecedented way to make unprecedented progress where you want to make it most.

Dec. 22 - Jan. 19Capricorn

Month ofScorpio

Our expectations are often based on previ-ous experiences. Learning from past expe-riences can cause us to form set-in-stone opinions and your unwillingness to accept that an opportunity presenting itself now differs in any way from one that caused previous hurt or upset could be a very big hurdle to overcoming whatever happened previously. Give something or someone a chance. You will soon see how different things are this time.

Aug. 23 - Sept. 22Virgo

Keep your surroundings clean.

Dirty sewers aren’t just smelly, they also lead to various diseases including malaria, dengue etc!

Accidental InventionsEverybody knows that necessity is the mother of inventions. However while good inventions are so often the product of necessity, great inventions are completely accidental. Here is a list unintentional scientific achievements that too often we find ourselves taking for granted.

Penicillin Everybody knows the story or at least, should – the brilliant yet notoriously absent-minded biologist Sir Alexander Fleming was researching a strain of bacteria called staphylococci. When he returned from a holiday once, he noticed that one of the glass culture dishes he had accidentally left out had become contaminated with a fungus, and so he threw it away. It wasn’t until later that he noticed that the staphylococcus bacteria seemed unable to grow in the area surrounding the fungal mould.Fleming didn’t even hold out much hope for his discovery: it wasn’t given much attention when he published his findings the following year, it was difficult to cultivate, and it was slow-acting but later on penicillin could be produced on an industrial scale, changing the way doctors treated bacterial infections forever.

The MicrowaveIn 1945 Percy Lebaron Spencer, an American engineer and inventor, was busy manufacturing magnetrons. It is a device used to produce microwave radio signals that was integral to early radar use. Radar was an incredibly important innovation during the time of war, but microwave cooking was unintentional. When he was standing near a functioning magnetron, Spencer noticed that the chocolate bar in his pocket melted. He realized that it was the microwaves that melted his chocolate. He later experimented with popcorn kernels among other things. This gave birth to the microwave oven.

Like penicillin, here is another accidental invention that continues to save lives even today.

American engineer Wilson Greatbatch was working on a gadget that recorded irregular

heartbeats, when he inserted the wrong type of resistor into his invention by mistake. The

circuit pulsed, then was quiet, then pulsed again, prompting Greatbatch to compare this reaction with the human heart and work on the world’s

first implantable cardiac pacemaker.

Fireworks

It is widely accepted that the use of fireworks originated in China. It is believed that the Chinese had introduced its manufacturing almost 2,000 years ago, hence, there’s no particular person given credit for its invention. However, it is said that it was invented accidentally by an unnamed Chinese Cook who somehow managed to create a mixture of charcoal, sulphur and saltpeter. All these ingredients were available in the kitchen at that time. When he stuffed the mixture in a bamboo tube, an explosion occurred, and that was how fireworks or firecrackers were invented.

Archimedes’ Principle

Archimedes was given the task of finding out if a goldsmith, who worked for the king, was carefully replacing the king’s gold with silver. While doing this Archimedes decided he should take a break so went to take a bath. While entering the bath he noticed that when he placed his legs in, water spilled over the edge. Struck by a moment of realization, he shouted “Eureka!”.He realised in the bathtub that a body’s displacement water allowed him to measure the weight-to-volume ratio of any irregularly shaped body, such as a gold crown. He informed the king that there was a way to positively tell if the smith was cheating him. Knowing that gold has a higher density than silver, he placed the king’s crown and then a gold crown of equal weight into a pool. The king’s crown caused more water to overflow, showing that it had a greater volume for the same weight. It was, therefore, less dense than gold, and Archimedes concluded that it contained silver, causing the smith to be executed.A simple dip in the bath led to the Archimedes principle, which is now the back bone of fluid mechanics.

Raman EffectWhen C.V Raman was on board a ship he was distressed and was looking at the vast ocean. The radiance of the blue sea enthralled him and this made him wonder what made the ocean look blue. He saw the rays of the sun get scattered in the sea. He called this the Raman Effect. This discovery gave him the noble prize.

Eco Friendly Fashion

Sustainable fashion is no longer an oxymoron. It is transforming from a fad into a permanent business practice in the fashion industry. It

represents a paradigm shift in design philosophy and trade practices of an extremely polluting industry. Earlier, the only form of socially

conscious behaviour in the fashion world was represented by donations made to a charitable cause, but now designers are taking matters into their own hands and developing clothes that are produced in an eco-

friendly and humanitarian manner and also have a significantly lower carbon footprint than garments that are produced by the conventional,

chemical-intensive methods.

A Shift towards Fair Trade

Green FashionistasThe most significant change is seen in the form of a shift towards organic cotton. Currently, about 25% of the total pesticides used in the world are required to produce non-organic cotton. Approximately 8000 chemicals are used in the production of textiles. These chemicals later find their way into our ecosystems and are a huge source of pollution and contamination.

In response to this problem, many designers have started using organic cotton, which is grown without the use of pesticides and is a better fabric than non-organic cotton in terms of comfort for the wearer. The main issue with organic cotton is that it requires a lot more time and effort to grow and hence ‘organic’ clothes are much more expensive than clothes made of non-organic cotton. Apart from this, a few facilities have cropped up around the world for recycling scraps of discarded cloth and reprocessing them for spinning into a new yarn.

Some designers are trying to find an alternative to cotton, such as bamboo fibre, which is easy to grow without using pesticides and also absorbs greenhouse gases while it grows. But for processing bamboo fibre into textiles, chemicals need to be used. Hemp is considered to be one of the most optimal raw materials for creating eco-friendly fabrics, but its cultivation is illegal in many countries. A new technology called the AirDye technology can be used on synthetic materials, thus making the process of dying and printing free of water consumption, although this technology results in the use of a lot of chemicals. A better practice to adopt is the use of vegetable dyes and other natural pigments, to prevent chemicals from infiltrating into the natural environment and also to reduce the level of chemical pollutants present in water.

A number of designers are furthering the cause of sustainable fashion, with international celebrities and models such as Natalie Portman, Cameron Diaz, Alicia Silverstone, Adrian Grenier, Jennifer Aniston and Salma Hayek spearheading this campaign. Designers Stella McCartney, Rogan Gregory, Peter Ingwersen, U2 front man Bono, his wife Ali Hewson and model/activist Summer Rayne Oakes are

other prominent pioneers in creating awareness about sustainable fashion practices. The New York Fashion Week displays a number of collections by designers who follow ethical, eco-friendly and fair trade practices in their work. Indian designers Abhishek Dutta and Soumitra Mondal also displayed their stylish creations made of hand spun khadi and organic dyes at the Lakme Fashion Week recently. Samant Chauhan,

Anita Dongre and Lecoanet Hemant are some other designers of note who have come up with ‘green’ collections.

A number of clothing giants such as ‘People Tree’ use fair trade as their motto and have roped in celebrities such as Emma Watson of the Harry Potter fame to help in designing their collections. Cosmetics brands such as Lush Cosmetics and the Body Shop have long followed a policy of using natural ingredients and not testing their products on animals to ensure that they do not harm the environment, unlike the conventional producers of cosmetics.

All these changes in the fashion world bring to light a heartening trend towards conscious and responsible industry practices. The tag of being a ‘green’ designer may serve as a tool for gaining publicity but if environmentally conscious practices are actually followed, it is all for the best. The high cost of producing organic raw material may act as an impediment to the commercial success of such fashion lines, and it is up to the consumers to make a responsible decision, now that fashionable and environmentally responsible apparel is slowly being made available to us. - Shraddha Suresh, The ViewspaperEmma Watson is reportedly a part of People Tree.

SportsTendulkar misses 100th

ton, but guides India home with Laxman

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Though Sachin Tendulkar fell 24 runs short of his 100th international century, he made sure that India won the first cricket Test against the West Indies to go one up in the three-match se-ries on Wednesday.

Yuvraj Singh’s wicket fell when the scores were tied, 32 minutes after the lunch break on the fourth day with V.V.S. Laxman remaining unbeaten on 58. Tendulkar en route to his 76 also crossed 15,000 runs in Test cricket.

It was India's first win after six Tests, and their first against the West Indies at the Kotla.

Though the match finished with a day and half to spare, there was enough drama with fortunes fluctu-ating. The West Indies, riding on a fine 111 by their senior pro Shivnar-ine Chanderpaul, entertained hopes of a victory when they bowled India out for 209 after scoring 304 in the first innings.

Ojha was the pick of the bowler in the first innings, getting his maiden five-wicket haul (6/72), while Ash-win turned the match India's way on the third day when he picked up his maiden fifer (six for 47) that re-stricted the West Indies to 180 in the second innings to leave the hosts a competitive target.

Virender Sehwag, who scored identical 55 in both the innings, gave India's chase the right impetus.

Resuming at the overnight 152 for two, India had an early setback, los-ing Rahul Dravid in the fourth over. Tendulkar and Laxman then scored briskly for their 71-run stand that came up in 100 balls and that more or less settled the issue.

The second Test starts in Kolkata Nov 14.

It wasn't as easy a win as it looked: Dhoni

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) India captain Mahendra Sin-gh Dhoni on Wednesday said the five-wicket win against the West Indies with almost a day and a half to spare might look easy but was actually tough as the Ferozeshah Kotla wicket had nothing much for the bowlers and the batsmen.

"It was not an easy game for us because it was not an easy wicket to score. You had to be aware of the ball that kept low. The batsmen who have scored runs in this match have spent long hours and faced lot of deliveries," said Dhoni after India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

"There was nothing much for the bowlers and the bats-men. It was a typical Kotla track. I wish the Eden Gar-dens track will offer us something better," he said.

Dhoni said the batsmen didn't play well in the first in-nings and hoped the team will put up a better show in the remaining two Test matches.

Dhoni also lauded his spinners Pragyan Ojha and deb-utant Ravichandran Ashwin. Both the bowlers picked up their maiden five-wicket haul in the match. Left-arm spinner Ojha, playing a Test match after a year, picked up 6/72 in the first innings and returned with a match haul of seven for 109.

Second round of Ranji Trophy promises to be

competitive

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) The second round of Ranji Trophy ties will begin today and teams will be looking to come out of their comfort zones and score outright wins.

All eyes will be again on star play-ers like Harbhajan Singh, Rohit Shar-ma, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Parthiv Patel to name a few. Jadeja, Rohit, Raina and Patel were off to fly-ing starts in the first round, scoring big centuries. Harbhajan, who is lead-ing Punjab, went wicketless.

Mumbai was the only team to log points in an otherwise dull first round

that saw all draws. Mumbai crushed Railways by 10 wickets to open their account with six points.

They will take on champions Rajas-than at home and would be looking to revenge their quarterfinal loss of last year.

The formidable Karnataka team would eye an easy prey in Railways, who need to quickly regroup after the drubbing at the hands of Mumbai.

Punjab, who battled to earn a draw against Uttar Pradesh, will play Oris-sa in Mohali, while Delhi will take on Saurashtra.

India draw with Australia

in U-21 women's

hockeyNew Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) India and Australia played out a goalless draw in the four-nation under-21 women's hockey tournament on Wednesday.

India, who piped New Zealand 3-2 in the opening match, came close to scoring on a number of occasions but could not make the most of the opportunities.

Australia was resolute in defense and kept the dominating home team at bay.

Both India and Australia got five penalty corners each and all were wasted. India tried out variations in their penalty corners, but it was not effective.

The home team missed a good scoring chance when Navneet Kaur had only the goalkeeper to beat in the 54th minute, but Jocelyn Bar-tram saved the shot.

A crown court found Butt to be the "orchestrator" for directing Asif and Aamer to bowl a no-ball at a pre-determined moment.

Butt is reportedly sharing a cell with his co-conspirator Asif at Wandsworth prison, though the prison service has refused to confirm the claim, the report said.

FMSCI not to be blamed for Buddh Circuit's lockdown: Chandhok

Chennai, Nov 9 (IANS) The Federa-tion of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) has nothing to do with the decision of the owners of the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) to close the track for "maintenance", asserted the governing body's president Vicky Chandhok.

The lockdown of the BIC that re-cently hosted the inaugural Formula

One Indian Grand Prix, has resulted in shifting of the concluding rounds of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship, the Volkswagen Polo R Cup and also the JK Tyre Formula Asia Racing Championship series, scheduled for Nov 26-27, to Chennai.

Speaking to IANS on Wednesday, Chandhok said: "It is wrong to blame the FMSCI who have nothing to do

with the track. If the owners decide to close the track for whatever reason, then

there is not much anyone can do."As regards the shifting of the JK

Tyre event, the official calendar clear-ly says BIC or MMRT (Madras Mo-tor Race Trust). So, it was advisable to wait for an official confirmation before making plans."

London, Nov 10 (IANS): Jessica Simp-son says pregnancy is affecting her taste

buds and she craves for certain food-stuff "like a crazy person". The singer-actress is currently expecting her first

child with fiancé Eric Johnson, reports femalefirst.co.uk. "I no longer like pizza

because it tastes sour. I crave canta-loupe (rock melon) like a crazy person. But I put salt all over it, so I don't know

if it's that healthy. I crave anything salty and sweet. That mixture to me is so

good. I can eat a whole cantaloupe in one morning," she said.

Winehouse's 'Back To Black' dress on auctionLondon, Nov 10 (IANS): Singer Amy Winehouse's dress from the cover of her "Back to Black" album is expected to raise between 10,000 pounds and 20,000 pounds through a charity auction at the end of this month. Thai designer Disaya lent the late singer the chiffon-print frock when Winehouse's stylist Louise Winwood was looking for an outfit for her to wear in photographs for the artwork of the 2006 record, reports contactmusic.com. Follow-ing the photo shoot, the dress was returned to the designer and stored. But it will now be sold in London at Kerry Taylor Auctions' "Passion for Fashion" auction Nov 29. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Other outfits to be sold at the auction include two gowns that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor and the dress worn by Audrey Hepburn when she collected her Oscar for "Roman Holiday" in 1954.

Los Angeles, Nov 9 (IANS): Filmmaker Brett Ratner has resigned as the producer of Academy Awards after he came under fire for making insensitive comments. "Being asked to help put on the Oscar show was the proudest moment of my career," Ratner, 42, said in a statement, reports usmaga-zine.com. "But as painful as this may be for me, it would be worse if my association with the show were to be a distrac-tion from the Academy and the high ideals it represents," he added.

The "Rush Hour" director announced the decision just days after he upset gay rights activists by using a homosex-ual slur during a question-and-answer session to promote his new film "Tower Heist". Ratner apologized for using the word "fag" at the Arclight Cinema event in Hollywood Friday, insisting it was "a dumb way of expressing myself".

Eventually that's going to happen, but so far she's gotten her way!" contact-music.com quoted Garner as saying.
