  • FOOTVIBESTHE DANCE CLUB OF IIMK

  • Footvibes, the dance club of IIM K, was started by PGP 12 dance enthusiasts with a belief that the passion and commitment towards dance will help every dancer attain newer heights. The objective of Footvibes is to provide a common platform for all the dance enthusiasts to come together.

Throughout the year, a series of activities are conducted by the club starting with the custom-ary introduction to the new batch through a much appreciated dance performance in ROOBA-ROO. Roobaroo dance competitions forms a great opportunity for the dance enthusiasts in the new batch to showcase their talent.

Then comes FOOTLOOSE, the annual intra-col-lege dance competition which is generally held on the International Day. We represent IIM K during Echoes which is the cultural festival or-ganized by IIM K. Apart from organizing and con-testing in dance competitions, Footvibes also performs during cultural night at Food Festival, Backwaters management festival of IIMK, Onam,

Navratri etc. We even do branding of IIM K during Calicut Marathon by conducting energetic flash mob at Focus Mall in Calicut. Year 2015 marked an addition to this as a very successful flash mob at Calicut beach, one of the most crowded plac-es in Calicut.

Footvibes also maintains a Facebook Page, which is regularly updated with the photos and videos of Footvibes performances. Anyone from IIM K student fraternity can join this group and post interesting dance videos and give information about various dance competitions across the na-tion.

Break out with those dance moves at our Dance club here in Gods own Kampus. With electronic beats and more, prepare to get grooving and set the dance floor ablaze.

  • We at Krescendo believe in the power of music! Krescendo forms an integral part of all the cultur-al events at IIM Kozhikode. Regularly held events throughout the year provide the students with the platform to express their musical talents and at the same time enrich the cultural atmosphere of the Kampus.

Starting with Roobaroo, the power-packed per-formances goes on throughout the year with events like Open Mic night, Karaoke nights, Duet competitions, K-Nite, performances at Backwa-ters, Nostalgia and ends with the stellar perfor-mance during Aahatein.

  • PROLITCULTTHE LITERARY CLUB OF IIMK

  • IIM Kozhikodes ProLitCult, the literary enthusi-asts haven on Kampus, has been around for quite sometime now, literally living up to its mission: Let there be Lit.

ProLitCult conducts a plethora of brain-tingling activities that are traditionally undertaken at the regular gatherings of the worldly wise and the jabberwockies here on Kampus:

    Roo-ba-roo:

There are a host of literary activities, ranging from traditional JAMing to kinky new versions of Dumb-charades undertaken by the team of PLC every year at the beginning of Term 1 Year 1 of PGP as a part of the event that is dedicated to pull the freshers out of their cocoons.

    Echoes:

The strongest presence made by PLC amongst its year-round activities is at the biggest cultural

festival of Southern India - Echoes. Again here, PLC dishes out all the traditional literary games - Word Games, JAM, Dumb-C and Potpourri.

    Backwaters:

This is where PLC makes a mark every year by in-troducing the essential fun element to the rather serious management festival.

is just for the so-called Grammar Nazis, think again. Apart from making their presence felt in these major festivals on campus, ProLitCult also arranges Lit Nites which witness large participa-tion from the batch- both seniors as well as ju-niors. Some of those conducted last year were JAM, Pictionary, Dumb C, Mafia and Potpourri. These Lit Nites give the students the much need-ed break from their tiresome drudgery of the never-ending case studies, quizzes and submis-sions.

  • THEATRIXTHE DRAMATICS CLUB OF IIMK

  • Theatrix once again entertained our Kampus this year by putting up a number of plays. Each play made us push the bar set by PGP 16 higher. We started the year with Murder.PGP 18 made a kick start of their theatrix chap-ter by putting up Playing Along - a dark comedy for Backwaters. Falling in line with our tradition of junior batch shouldering the responsibility of being flag bearers in competition, Echoes saw not one but two plays. Chikitsa ka chakkar - an adaptation of a short story by Bedhab Banara-si went on to win the second spot for IIMK. It presented our viewers a light hearted take on medical malpractice. 10000 Cigarettes on the other hand presented a dark humorous take on smoking in a unique narration style.

2015 also, witnessed not 1 or 2 but 3 plays within a week. A daunting task with 3 consecutive pro-ductions taking place, Theatrix never slept for a month. Starting with Janahit me Jaari, a satire on Universal Identity in India saw PGP 17 emerg-ing with punchy dialogues that echo long after

they left kampus; using the current situations in the Kampus to connect with the audience has been the USP of Theatrix that PGP17 and 18 have witnessed in the play Janahit me Jaari. Also it was the first time when theatrix handled a crew of over 25 people including production and lights.

Instead of venting out frustration in the choicest of adjectives, people actually switched to num-bers taking inspiration from the play. This was followed by the beautiful adaptation of the clas-sic Mama Mia made possible by Theatrix and Krescendos collaboration.

The year ended with Ek nayi Shuruwat being our Womens Day play celebrating the true spir-it of womanhood. Involvement of Footvibes and extra ordinary light effects was the perfect com-bination for handling such an important issue. Even though the plays were performed consec-utively, the response from the audience was ap-preciable, not even a single seat went empty for all the plays.

  • TRIPODTHE PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB OF IIMK

  • One of the most happening clubs of IIM Kozhi-kode is Tripod. This club plays an active role in every activity on campus, ranging from profile shoot of a batch to covering almost all the events around the year.

Last year, it celebrated yet another year of pas-sion for photography by organising an exhibition Through the lens which was a huge success. The photographs on display were clicked by the students of IIM Kozhikode and the themes ranged from nature, wildlife, still life, people landscapes to abstract. Some of the photographs were pur-chased by the onlookers and the proceeds from the event were used to buy stationary items which were donated to school going kids. Also, selected photographs from the exhibition were framed and put up around the campus so as to encourage the passion for photography and stu-dent run initiatives.

In the past academic year, tripod also organized lots of photography contests. While it spurred the interest of photographers in the new batch, it also received a lot of appreciation from the faculty.

Tripod has a very active page on Facebook which is hugely popular. Some of the events Tripod ac-tively participated are in adjudging photogra-phy in Roobaroo, the induction fest for the new batch, Backwaters, Echoes and in collaboration with interest groups and committees.

Tripod also organizes regular photo-walks which attract a lot of photography enthusiasts from the batch for a fun filled photography session - walk-ing around the campus.

  • ALCOMTHE ALUMNI COMMITTEE OF IIMK

  • The strength of an institute flows from its stu-dents the alumni, who bring accolades by their success and the current batches, who are the torch bearers. The Alumni Committee, or AlCom as they are known on campus, is the bridge be-tween the past and the future. It networks with the alumni and brings them closer to the stu-dents by organizing workshops and lectures and facilitating one-on-one interactions, thereby en-riching the present batches through the experi-ences of the alumni.

The two major events organised by AlCom are Sangam and Nostalgia. Nostalgia, the annual Alumni meet, is the flagship event of the Alumni

Committee and is held in late-January. An evoc-ative event that marks homecoming, celebra-tion and unparalleled joy of communion with the alma mater, it is an ideal opportunity to renew old bonds, foster new ties and relive the magical moments all over again.

Sangam is the annual Alumni-Student Meet which is held across 7 Indian and 4 foreign locations in May. It provides a platform for the Alumni to re-connect and the current students to form mean-ingful connections with their seniors in the in-dustry, thereby narrowing the gap between the academia and the corporate world.

  • CALMARTHE CALICUT MARATHON COMMITTEE OF IIMK

  • The Calicut Marathon Committee aka Calmar, true to its name, organizes the Calicut Marathon every year. Started in 2010 with the aim of gen-erating social awareness on issues plaguing our society and providing a platform for civic engage-ment, Calicut Marathon has since grown into one of Keralas biggest sporting events and obviously one of the major events in IIM Kozhikodes calen-dar. It allows the IIMK community to collaborate with corporate houses, schools and colleges in and around Kerala in spreading awareness and sensitizing the public.

This is one event that brings in extensive me-dia publicity for the college and well, Page 3 ap-pearances for quite a good number of students too! Supporting different themes over the years, Gift a life- organ donation, War on Waste, Be the change, Transforming lives, Empowering Women and Road Safety the Calicut Marathon joins hands with NGOs, district administration and civic authorities to become an essential cog in the wheel of change.

An event of this magnitude demands tremen-dous efforts, perpetual activities and quite a few sleepless nights. The marathon is, in fact, a multitude of events that begins with the press launch and ends with the race day. We also have a midnight campus run which was inaugurated by a team of motorists on Harley Davidson bikes, the midnight event truly lit up the IIMK Campus. There are Flash-mobs arranged across city points and also a Sand sculpture put-up at the beach to generate awareness.

With more than 4000 participants last year from all walks of life, including several international athletes, the Calicut Marathon gave everyone- the committee and the volunteers- quite a good taste of what management really looks like. Right from convincing corporates for sponsorship to working on sand sculptures at the Kozhikode beach with a renowned sand artist, we get to do it all as part of Calmar. We at Calmar expect our members to be creative, professional and awe-some!

  • EDITORIAL BOARDTHE PUBLICATION COMMITTEE OF IIMK

  • The Editorial Board is the committee responsible for all publishing work on campus.

Annually, we publish Spandan - the annual man-agement review of IIMK, and Eclat - the annual literary magazine. We also work on getting the Yearbook published and delivered to the passing out batch. In addition, Dekaf i.e. the magazine youre reading currently, is an Editorial Board publication too.

Apart from these, Ed Board members get to in-terview industry hotshots who are on campus for guest lecture purpose.

Other than our core competency, we also orga-nize literary competitions throughout the year. The year starts with Myriad Hues - a writing event for both the PGP batches. In December, we have the biggest writing event of the year i.e. Write-O-Rama, a pan India event held in three stages. In addition, we organize a literary treasure hunt during Echoes.

We maintain a blog where we publish interviews, winning entries from competitions, and articles of general interest.

From this year onwards, we look to foraying into journalism on campus via a printed newspaper. We have also taken up the responsibility of get-ting newspapers delivered to the campus stu-dents in their rooms.

In other new initiatives, we will soon be starting a Summer Internship Experience Series where we share stories of PGP18ers from their summers.

That should be all, but well, well ... are we miss-ing something? Mocking-kay be that! A fresh new initiative, we look to capture, and influence the IIMK culture of our era through this comic strip that can be dead hilarious, to didactic at the same time.

Who are we? We are the Editorial Board. Cheers.

With the highest number of entrepreneurs in any PGDM batch (during 2015-16), IIM Kozhikode was noted highly in the leading newspaper of the country.

This shall be taken forward this year by organ-ising workshops in Legal aspects of start-ups, Funding aspects, Exit strategies, and pitching B-Plan to investors.

    2. Start-Up Cell : This 3-round initiative (of which Round 1 is over) provides students a forum for putting their ideas into actions. Through a continued mentorship program from Alumni En-trepreneurs and others, Ecell shall guide the stu-dents who have developed and submitted their B-Plan to Ecell. Apart from mentorship and man-agerial assistance, Start-Up Cell also would help to provide financial aid from investors and ven-ture capitalists

    3. Networking : With the intent to place Ecell, IIM K into a pivot position, networking rounds have been initiated which would provide students of IIM K a network with investors, mentors, legal experts and incubation centres across the coun-try. With even more enthusiasm, we look forward to PGP 19, who are willing to create a marked difference in themselves and the institute by ei-ther following the path of entrepreneurship or being part of a society which is poised to be a front-runner in entrepreneurial ecosystem of the country in years to come.

At the same time it maintained its watch over misuse of network resources. Another feather in cap for the committee was maintaining high availability of the DC server while serving tons of download requests promptly every day.

Coming to the highlights of IT committees activ-ities last year. The committee hosted its annu-al gaming tournament Cyberwars 2014 spread across two nights of 14th November and 15th No-

vember which saw a registration of more than 75 participants across 34 different matches of Counter Strike, NFS, AOE and FIFA.

While this event was strictly for K-folks, the committee welcomed outside participation through another equally grand gaming tourna-ment Crash & Burn 2015 as a part of the annual event Echoes in collaboration with the Cultural Committee. This event, organized on 20th Feb-ruary 2015 and 21st February 2015, too saw over-whelming participation by eager gamers from ours as well as other institutes. IT committee also rolled out the website for Financially Yours (IIMK finance club) and the Student Portal by the start of the year 2015 while the designing and development for few other clubs & committees are underway.

There is lot in store for IT committee this year too, some of which are IT committees own ini-tiatives while others are in collaboration with different clubs and committees.
