Exxon will market the sheet, which is based upon poly- BUSINESS propylene, in standard or custom-cut blanks, with a 30% or 40% glass content. Exxon becomes the second major supplier of stamp- able thermoplastic sheet, the other being General Electric, who market Azdel. (Exxon has not decided upon a tradename for its product as yet). KEVLAR IN Du Pont is now marketing its Kevlar 149 aramid fibre in pellet PELLET FORM form for use in injection moulding and extrusion. DEGUSSA IS EXTENDING Demand in the plastic and cable industries for carbon black/ ITS CARBON BLACK/ plastic concentrates has risen considerably in recent years. PLASTIC CONCENTRATES Degussa AG has therefore decided to increase the carbon black CAPACITY masterbatch and compound production capacity of its Kalscheuren works, near Cologne, by one third to 10 000 tons per year by set- ting up a new multi-purpose plant. Building work is due to begin this autumn and is scheduled for completion by summer of 1990. PRICE INCREASE FOR Union Carbide Europe S.A. has announced that the prices for its ORGANOFUNCTIONAL range of Organofunctional Silanes will increase as of October SILANES 1988. Union Carbide is the world's largest producer of Organofunctional Silanes which are widely used in glass-reinforced plastics, foun- dry resins, insulation wool, sealants and adhesives, and wire and cable applications. The price increases are scheduled as follows:- 3- 5% for amino epoxy methacryl functional silanes lo-12% for vinyl silanes RoMoGENmus POWDER SILICONE Toray Silicone Co. Ltd., has developed a silicone in the powder state which has an average particle diameter of 3 micron. The di.spersion of the powder silicone into resin is much more homo- geneous than in conventional silicone oil.
