the globe, SCHOTT develops, produces and supplies

hermetic packages for the protection of sensitive

electronics and large hermetic penetrators for bulkheads

in nuclear-powered carriers and submarines. Our hermetic

SCHOTT glass and glass-ceramic are widely used in transparent armor systems in the field today, and SCHOTT and its industry partners are developing new materials and systems for use in future armor systems.

Strikeface materials made of glass-ceramic and borosilicate glass are in many ways superior to soda-lime glass substrates, offering outstanding ballistic performance, lower weight and higher light transmittance.

Whether as windshields in military vehicles, glazing for aircraft cockpits, or in civilian security applications, SCHOTT materials offer excellent ballistic performance to ensure safe viewing.

Window systems from SCHOTT DiamondView Armor Products, LLC., offer the best of both worlds – high ballistic resistance and scalable protection, combined with outstanding transparency and visibility. This unique glass-ceramic armor system is ideal for a wide range of military, civilian, commercial, and homeland security vehicles. Because of its high degree of transparency in the IR range, DiamondView windows enhance the use of high-tech systems such as night vision goggles.

Supported by flexible manufacturing capabilities, DiamondView can be customized for a wide range of applications. Its ability to resist thermal cycling and UV exposure result in a significantly longer service life than traditional soda-lime glass transparent armor systems, thereby reducing overall life cycle costs.
