Blessing of the Backpacks: August 18 On Sunday, August 18, in all services, students (teachers, too!) are encouraged to bring their backpacks for a special back-to-school blessing. We will also have a Blessing of the Kindergartners at the 10:50 a.m. service. Following late worship, all are invited to enjoy a hot dog lunch and a treat from the Kona Ice Truck! This summer, our sermon series follows two tracks: Our Wesleyan Roots and Living as a Disciple. Dr. Mary Spradlin and Rev. Allen Lutes will alternate preaching in the Sanctuary and Third Space, sharing both tracks with our entire congregation. Come worship this summer and learn how our past informs our present and our future as United Methodist disciples of Christ! Wide Branches Deep Roots, New Ministry Team: Feeding Student Athletes We have learned of a need at Monnig Middle School for a team of adults who will provide a meal for student athletes on game days during the school year. If you are able to serve on a new ministry team that will allow our congregation to serve in a local middle school, please contact Laurie Meek ([email protected]; 817.737.3161). Team members will order and pick up meals from a local restaurant and set up and clean up (4–5:15 p.m.) at Monnig on various days. August Mission Collection: Pack A Sack As the school year approaches, our Pack A Sack ministry is preparing to help more than 70 children at North Hi Mount by making sure they have something to eat over the weekends. Please stop by the atrium during August to find out how you can help with this ministry.

Glen Lake Bible campseptember 13-14: Glen Lake Bible Camp is an opportunity for children in grades 3-5 to learn about the Bible while enjoying the adventures and joys of camp. Guest Speaker will be Rev. Dr. Leanne Hadley. Cost is $45; register at www.glenlake.org/biblecamp.

Welcome rev. Johnny silva!rev. Johnny silva is preaching in third space today. He has a degree in Biology from UTSA and an M. Div. from Perkins at SMU. Rev. Silva is an ordained elder of the Rio Texas Conference, currently serving as the Director of TCU Wesley. He and his wife Laura previously served as Associate Pastors at FUMC Corpus Christi.
