Bahamian conservationist d’Shan Maycock has planned a conservation campaign on Abaco that could lead
to better management of the island’s marine resources, and
deeper penetration of the message of conservation nationwide.

. Spiny lobster will be taken of the menu during the closed season.
Fishermen will be trained to fish Lion Fish during the closed season as an alternative to the Spiny Lobster.
Legislation will be enforced to discontinue the use of compressors to set traps.
Fishermen will only fish during open season and discontinue fishing during closed season.
Fishermen will not take out egg-bearing and juvenile lobster species.
Reduction of harvested juvenile and egg-bearing Spiny Lobster from the sea.
Reduction of harvested Spiny Lobster during the closed season.
Spiny Lobster population will increase by 35% by December 2012.
