This is HCA’s fifth partnership with Sarah Cannon and the 16th Habitat of Greater Nashville house sponsored and built by HCA. This year, the companies teamed up with Health to You (H2U) and TriStar Centennial Medical Center to create an all women build. The women joined forces with great enthusiasm to raise the walls and create a home for La’Shawn and her daughter.
HCA is the nation’s leading provider of healthcare services, comprised of locally managed facilities that include 163 hospitals and 109 freestanding surgery centers in 20 states and England. Investing in the community is important to HCA and its approxi-mately 199,000 empolyees. The partnership with Habitat for Humanity is a natural extension of HCA’s commitment to improve the quality of human life. HCA team member Ken Kulaga serves on the Habitat Board of Directors.

Warm, positive, and energetic—La’Shawn Armstrong is always ready with a smile to share. She is the dedicated, charismatic mother of Nakiya, 10, who takes pride in her family and her home. La’Shawn has worked at Shoe Carnival since August 2010 as a Floor Supervisor. Her position involves customer relations and
she loves to “work and help people daily.” Her employers are impressed with her work ethic and positive attitude, praising her for “outstanding work.” La’Shawn and Nakiya are excited to have their own yard and extra space to play together—especially since they will be part of a home that they “can call their own.”

This is Nissan’s seventh time to build a Habitat home in Davidson County. Nissan first came to the U.S. to sell automobiles in 1958. In North America, Nissan’s operations include automotive styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing. Their mission is to provide retailers with the tools they need for constant improvement and consumer satisfaction. However, Nissan’s scope of
focus extends beyond simply manufacturing automobiles. Nissan’s global vision is enriching people’s lives, and sponsoring a home is one way that Nissan can support that vision in Middle Tennessee. The Nissan North America headquarters are in Nashville and sponsoring a Habitat home provides a great opportunity for employees to give back to the community and take pride in their company. David Reuter serves on the Habitat Board of Directors.

Regina White and Willie Kimble4204 Polk Forest Circle
Regina and Willie’s first priority is providing a stable and nurturing home for Regina’s three daughters, Oliesha, 14, Marisah, 10, and Ahiya, 6, and her granddaughter, Aariyah, 6. Regina became a widow in 2000 and has supported her family by working as a childcare provider and carefully budgeting her small monthly widow
benefit. She earned her GED in 2012 and was recently hired by the Music City Center. Willie (not pictured) struggles with health problems for which he receives disability benefits, but his support around the house and as a mentor and caretaker for the children allows Regina to reach her goals. “He is my confidant and supporter,” she says.
For Regina and Willie homeownership means a fresh start and independence. They see the Habitat experience as an opportunity to teach their children the value of working hard, setting ambitious goals, and staying focused on a brighter future. Willie’s daughter Cassandra Stove, a current Habitat homeowner, has helped Regina and Willie prepare for this important step in their lives.
The family is so grateful for the opportunity to become Habitat homeowners. Regina says, “I would like to thank Nissan for giving me this chance to prove that I am a responsible, dependable person. Without them this moment wouldn’t be possible – thank you!”

Kelly Hereford205 Lindsay Meadow Court
After serving in the Army National Guard from 2001 to 2011, Kelly decided to go to school at Bethel University using her GI Bill benefits to study criminal justice. She has worked for the Charles Bass Correctional Complex since 2010 as a Corrections Officer in the men’s prison. Kelly says she has wanted to own a home for a few years but wanted to be more settled in her
job. Kelly is the proud mother of two children, son Ja’Kari, 7, and daughter, Jaela 5. They are her biggest motivation and inspiration to become a homeowner through Habitat for Humanity. To her sponsors and volunteers, Kelly says, “I don’t know if I can say ‘thank you’ enough, but it’s a real blessing to have such nice people in the world. LaTiesha is the proud mother of 13-year-old son, Deonte’, who is in the 7th grade. LaTiesha works as a Special Education Assistant for Metro Schools. She was encouraged to apply for a Habitat home
by the social worker at her Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) community. LaTiesha utilized funds saved in her MDHA Family Self Sufficiency account to pay off debts and save enough money for her Habitat home mortgage closing costs. LaTiesha said she jumped for joy when she found out that she had been approved for the Habitat program.
Achieving homeownership has given her the confidence that she can reach her goals, she says. LaTiesha was a diligent student during her Financial Peace University classes at the Habitat Learning Center, and loves telling others of her bugeting and saving progress. Her son is her biggest inspiration and motivation for this homeownership opportunity. “Thank you to all those who have helped me get to this point in my life.”
