Welcome to the Autumn season at Déda, as our exciting project to expand our
facilities continues. We’ve appointed localarchitects Pick Everard and we’re ever closer toour fundraising target, thanks to support from the Garfield Weston Foundation and the FoyleFoundation. Even more excitingly, we’re due to go on-site in April 2014.
We’re pleased to announce that Mel and BillieHoman are our new Argentinian Tango tutors, joining our popular Social Dancing classesBallroom, Salsa and Rock ’n’ Roll and Jive. As wehead into Strictly… season, there’s never been a better time to get dancing. See the classprogramme at a glance on page 8.
The outdoor work of Déda Producing is animportant part of our business as we move into the future, remaining a dance organisationat heart but able to respond to otheropportunities. Keep your eyes peeled forChatsworth Luminaire in October, bringing one of our region’s most iconic gardens to lifewith light, sound and dance!
Since it first appeared in 2007 Derby Festé hasbecome “one of the most exciting UK festivals
for outdoor performance” (The Guardian). This year is our first as part of the WithoutWalls consortium, which will enable us tobring some fantastic shows to Derby, startingwith the mind-boggling As The World Tipped.See page 14 for more.
Déda’s exciting collaboration with DerbyTheatre enables us to bring bigger dancetheatre shows to the city. This season wepresent the BalletBoyz, one of the mostcheekily original and innovative forces inmodern dance.
Back at Déda we’re delighted to present Jonzi D, one of the architects of British hip hop theatre. Lyrikal Fearta is a longoverdue return to the stage, featuring a best-of package of old works and something brand new.
Keep an eye on deda.uk.com for our newwebsite – let us know what you think!
