Introduction

This report describes the work completed on the claim group of the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate in the Missinaibi area of the Sault Ste. Marie Mining division during the Autumn of 2000. With the exception of the drill logs, the information provided in this report has been compiled and edited by the author, Gerald Bennett of G. Bennett (fe Associates, from maps, sketches, reports, receipts etc. provided by Terrence Nicholson, Vivian Cote of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and a report and maps by R. Tweedle, of Thunder Bay Ontario. The author has not visited the area of the report.

Property Description

In 1999 the Dog River Prospecting Syndicate was reorganized as the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate. The claim holdings of the present syndicate, as summarized in Table l, is comprised of two continuous blocks: shown as Blocks A and B in the table.

All claims lie within the Sault Ste. Marie Mining Division, and are shown on claim maps G- 2797 (Meath Township), and M-1581 (West Township) and Fig. 2.

Location and Access

The claim group of the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate is located, for the most part, in the southern half of Meath Township, the northern portion of West Township and parts of Rennie and Riggs Townships. The property is within the Sault Ste. Marie Mining Division about 130 air miles (210 km) north of the city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The townships are included on Sheet 42 C/8 of the National Topographic Series, 1:50,000 scale topographic map. The approximate center of the property is at 480 22' north Latitude and 840 04' west Longitude.

The main showing (trench 1) is located at UTM Zone 16,714420E, 5380750N (Nad 27 datum).

Recently constructed logging roads provide access to much of the property (Fig. 2). The northern part can best be accessed by boat along a series of large lakes. The main line of the Canadian National Railway crosses the southwest portion of the property. The southeast corner of the property is about 10 km by logging road to Highway 651 and from there about 140 km by

Highway 101 to the Town of Wawa.

Regional Geology:

The property of the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate lies in the eastern portion of the Michipicoten greenstone belt; the largest greenstone belt within the Wawa Subprovince of the Superior structural province of the Canadian Shield. The Michipicoten greenstone belt has been the subject of many field, geochemical, and geochronological studies. An airborne geophysical survey which included the entire Michipicoten greenstone belt was completed for Ontario Geological Survey in 1987 (Ontario Geological Survey, 1987). Regional mapping and geochronological studies have delineated distinct episodes of volcanism at 2700 Ma, 2750 Ma and 2889 Ma. (Williams, et al (1991).

The Michipicoten greenstone belt is a lithologically and structurally complex assemblage of metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks intruded by plutons of widely varying compositions and ages. The greenstone belt is approximately 140 km long with a maximum width of 45 km. Supracrustal rocks of the belt are all of Archean age and strike approximately east-west but are truncated in the east by the Kapuskasing Structural Zone.

Economically, the Michipicoten greenstone belt has been one of the most significant greenstone belts (Williams et al 1991). Exploration has been mainly directed towards gold with the discovery of several producing mines throughout the length of the belt. The Renabie Mine located about 12 km east of the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate property, produced over one million ounces of gold between 1947 and 1987. The Eagle River Mine, a small, but high-grade gold mine is currently operating in the western portion of the belt.

Main Geological Features of the Dog River Property

The claim group of the Dog River Property Syndicate is underlain by felsic to mafic metavolcanics and felsic intrusive rocks of the Harcourt Lake Stock (Riley, 1971). There are also minor units of clastic metasedimentary rocks and banded iron formation on the property (Fekete, 1998). Predominantly northwest trending diabase dikes of the Hearst Swarm intrude all rocks of the claim group.

The supracrustal rocks display some degree of foliation and have been metamorphosed to lower greenschist facies or amphibolite facies of regional-dynamothermal metamorphism. Rocks within the contact aureole of the plutonic rocks have been metamorphosed to hornblende hornfels facies where many show a faint to well defined metamorphic layering giving the appearance of a sedimentary rock (Riley, 1971, Bennett, 1978).

Mafic metavolcanic rocks of low metamorphic grade are predominately fine-grained and dark- green to gray on weathered surfaces. Unweathered surfaces are medium green to dark-green. Most of the mafic metavolcanics are probably metabasalt flows.

Amphibolites are fine to medium-grained with a conspicuous foliation and lineation of acicular amphibole crystals. They are notably darker in color and more splendent than the lower grade mafic volcanic rocks.

Page 2

Page 7: Declaration I Gerald Bennett hold a Masters of Science

Intermediate to felsic volcanic rocks are prominent around the Harcourt Lake Stock in southern part of Meath and the northern portion of West Township. The metamorphic grade of the intermediate to felsic volcanic rocks is similar to that of the mafic varieties. The felsic metavolcanics range from pale gray to medium gray on weathered surfaces and are generally slightly darker on unweathered surfaces. They are commonly foliated but massive varieties have been noted. Porphyritic textures are generally present with quartz and/or feldspar phenocrysts from 3 to 10 mm being by far the most common phenocrysts. The matrix is generally an aphanitic to very fine fine-grained, hard, brittle rock (devitrified glass?). Intermediate to felsic pyroclastic units which are probably metamorphosed tuffs may be identified by the presence of scattered, generally darker, lensoid fragments which probably represent collapsed pumice fragments. Intermediate to felsic metavolcanics containing a significant proportion of sub rounded to more-or-less angular lapilli-sized fragments of uniform or varied compositions are interpreted as metamorphosed lapilli-tuffs and metamorphosed pyroclastic breccias.

Many pale-gray weathering porphyritic rocks have been clearly identified as dikes by the presence of fine-grained (chilled) borders of equal dimensions. For the most part, these dikes rocks may be genetically related to the enclosing, or nearby, intermediate felsic metavolcanic rocks but some coarser grained and somewhat pinkish varieties may be apophyses of the Harcourt lake Stock.

The Harcourt Lake Stock (Riley, 1971) is well exposed along the south end of Harcourt Lake and around the north end of McEwan Lake in West Township. The stock is comprised mainly of massive, medium to coarse-grained hornblende syenite, quartz-bearing syenite and some granite. Locally the syenitic rocks contains abundant angular xenoliths of the surrounding supracrustal rocks. The relatively undeformed nature of the intrusive rocks of the Harcourt Lake stock implies a significantly later time of emplacement than other granitic rocks of the area.

Previous Work

The area was included on the geological map of E.M. Burwash (1937) as part of a reconnaissance survey of the eastern portion of the Michipicoten greenstone belt. Rennie Township was mapped by E. L. Bruce (l 944). Tn 1966 R. A. Riley of the Ontario Department on Mines and Northern Affairs (now Ontario Geological Survey) completed geological mapping of Glasgow, Meath and Rennie Townships (Riley, 1971).

Bennett (1978) mapped Stover and Brackin Townships, immediately southeast of the property. Stivistava and Bennett(1978)' mapped Riggs and West Townships which included the southern portion of the Dog River No. 2 Syndicate claim block.

The claim groups of the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate includes five gold showings known as the Maison d'Or (or Maisondor) prospect. According to Riley (1971) the prospect has a rather vague history; but appears to have been known since 1934. The Maison d'Or showing was explored by several companies between 1950 and 1964. The most significant work done on the showing during that period was a diamond drill program of 1,040 feet over 9 holes by

Page 3

Page 8: Declaration I Gerald Bennett hold a Masters of Science

Mcintyre Porcupine Mines Limited in 1949 and 1950. The most promising assays reported by Mcintyre Porcupine Mines were 0.82 ounces Au per ton over 1.5 feet and 0.24 ounces Au per ton over 2.5 feet from trenches on the No. l Maison d'Or showing. A sample from the No. 3 showing was reported to have returned 2.98 ounces Au over 3. l feet. However the results from five short drill holes were not encouraging Riley (1971).

Barry (1993) reported a grab sample, which contained 18. l ounces Au per ton from the No. 4 Showing of the Maison d'Or Prospect.

The Milmar Prospect, in the southeast corner of the property was discovered in 1951. Copper assays of 7.14 percent Cu over 1.5 ft and 1.71 percent copper over 5 ft were returned from two quartz veins in sheared syenite. No gold values were reported (Fekete, 1998).

In 1996 Wawa prospectors Terry Nicholson and Gaston Gratton discovered previously unreported zinc showing on the west side of a recently completed logging road about 50 m west of the Maison d'Or No. 4 showing. The showing consists of several lenses of disseminated sphalerite and pyrrhotite over 5 m of sheared, silicified felsic metavolcanics (Fekete, 1998).

During the summer of 1998 Freewest completed geological, geophysical and geochemical work on its property of 251 contiguous claims in Meath, West and Rennie Township, about 3 km north of the hamlet of Missinabi. The claims were acquired by means of an option agreement with T. Nicholson and Gaston Gratton (Most of these claims now form the main holdings of the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate). Freewest Resources Canada Inc. completed VLF and mag survey over claims 1229802, 1229803 and 1164071 (Meath Township), 1164070 and 1164071 (West Township); a total of approximately 764 hectares. A geochemical survey was completed by the same company, for zinc, copper and gold in soils completed over parts of claims 1164071 and 164070. The survey revealed a zinc anomaly in soil.

M. Fekete of Freewest Resources Canada Inc. recommended that work on the property continue with prospecting, trenching and diamond drilling (Fekete, 1998). However the option was not renewed.

In 1999 the Dog River Prospecting Syndicate contracted a backhoe to excavate 2 trenches with a total length of 1860 feet (323m). Seventy-eight chip and grab samples were collected from the trenches. Three of these trenches are shown on Figure 3. The focus of the work was two quartz veins with visible gold and seams of sphalerite in nearby felsic volcanics. The result of this work has been reported earlier.

Work Completed by Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate in 2000

In 2000 the members of the Dog River No. 2 Prospecting Syndicate decided to continue exploration in the vicinity of the main showing of the property for gold and zinc. The main showing on the property (trench 1) hosts quartz veins from 6 inches (13 cm) to 1.5 feet ( 50 cm) wide which contain visible gold along both walls. Just across the road from the gold showing felsic volcanics contains seams of sphalerite have returned 1.5 to 6 "/o zinc over 3 meters. Both these occurrences were discovered by Terrence Nicholson and G. Gratton in 1996. It was hoped that additional stripping, some diamond drilling and assaying would provide sufficient positive results to increase the value of the claims and attract the interest of an exploration company. It

Page 4

Page 9: Declaration I Gerald Bennett hold a Masters of Science

was also decided to continue prospecting on the claim group and surrounding unclaimed land. The area of the No. l trench was selected for immediate attention.

Stripping and Trenching in the area of the Main Showing

In the year 2000, trenching and stripping was completed in four areas on claims 1164071, 1164070, 1229804 (Figure 2). May 21 to May 31, 2000 trench No. l of the main showing was extended in a southeast direction i.e. between the trench and the road (Fig. 3).

Just across the road from trench No. l overburden was removed for approximately 100 m along the south east side of the road to examine the sphalerite in the felsic metavolcanics discovered earlier (Photo 4.)

About 100 m east of the road an approximately 200 m long trench was dug in overburden to locate the eastward extension of the zinc-bearing felsic metavolanic unit (photos l and 2). This is shown as trench No. 3 on Figure 3.

Pholo t Tnneh Ne. S unto

T. Nicholson took three grab samples for assayfrom this trench. The location of the samples is shown on Figure 3. Sec Table 2 for assay results. A small trench was dug in overburden about 150 m north east of trench No. l (Trench 4 on Figure 3. No other work was done on that trench in 2000.

It was found that a skidder with a toothed blade left too much debris, so much of the work was done using a skidder with a modified flat blade to clean out the earlier dug trenches. The total amount of overburden trenching and washing-out of trenches done in 2000 was approximately 750 sq. metersFollowing the removal of most of the debris from the trenches, a Wajax pump was used to wash the outcrop clean for better view of the bedrock (see photos).

Stripping and Prospecting in the Annex Lake Area (Figure 4).

On May 24-25, 2000, T. Nicholson, while prospecting in the area north of Annex Lake, discovered three 6-8 in wide previously unreported lamprophyre dikes while prospecting on the north side of the road (Fig. 2, 4). Soon afterwards, overburden trenching was completed along the south side of the road and a little on the north side of the road. Grab samples were taken and analyzed for gold and platinum group metals. Three samples of lamprophyre were crushed and panned for heavy minerals by Mr. Nicholson. He later examined the heavy minerals under a

Page 5

binocular microscope and found them to be mainly pyrite, chalcopyrite, deep-red, almandine-type garnet and magnetite. No kimberlite indicator minerals were identified. See Figure 4 for location of samples and Table 2 for result of analyses.

A total of 36 hours of skidder time was used stripping in the area in 2000.The skidder, operator and Wajax pump were contracted from Kanadian Exploration Services of Timmins, Ontario. Workers were Mike Tremblay and Jack Roberts.

Drilling Done in 2000

Between September 2 and September 12, 2000 the Dog River No. 2. Prospecting Syndicate drilled two short holes (33 ft and 36 fi) using a Boyles X-Ray drill to test gold and zinc showings in the vicinity of Trench No. 1. The hole locations are shown in Figure 3 (Photos 3 and 4).

All in all the entire drilling attempt was not a successful operation in any respect. Continued mechanical and associated problems with the drill caused many delays in completion of the holes. Much core was ground, and the expected gold -bearing quartz veins were not intersected. The results of the drilling and assays of drill core are shown in the included drill logs. The drill was owned by the Dog River No. 2

Prospecting Syndicate (it has since been sold). The drillers were N. Pippoli of Batchawana and G.Gratton of Wawa. T. Nicholson assisted from time to time.

Additional Staking in 2000

In the summer of 2000 the Dog River No. 2. Prospecting Syndicate staked block of claims (1230185 and 1229806) north of Martin Lake in Meath Township, and an additional 16-unit claim was staked in West Township. These claims were staked to cover a new discovery by Terry Nicholson of outcrops of inclusion-bearing mafic rocks similar to that of the well known Band- Ore diamond occurrence in the Magpie River area. Additional work is planned on these claims in 2000.
