DECISIONS & REVISIONSA Presentation By Haaris Hussain

Page 2: Decisions & Revisions

WHY DID I CHOOSE HORROR OUT OF ALL THE OTHER POSSIBLE GENRES? The reason as to why I have chosen Horror is that, after

seeing two different horror film scenes in class. Along with that, I am in fact, interested in the genre itself as it can get the audience hooked into the action quite quickly and cause theories to pass by every audience member and cause them to think more into the plot of the movie and create what they believe to be the hidden story.

I have watched the opening scene to the movie “The Woman In Black” and found many frightful and uncomforting props and elements in the opening that I found I could use in my opening sequence. However, I have decided I might not start off as violently as The Woman In Black did as I feel I am not yet at that particular skill level.

I am a huge fan of horror movies and know a lot about them, even though I don’t particularly watch many at all.

I have had many creative Ideas for this genre of film, however, some have yet to be finalized and judged.

WHAT DECISIONS FELT IMPORTANT? After watching multiple film openings of

different types such as psychological horror and gore, I have made a lot of my decisions based upon the research conducted while gathering ideas for my opening. I have decided that my opening will be rather calm but with a some what eerie feel to it as it hints towards possible future events in the movie’s plot. I have decided to use the theme tune from the movie “Dead Silence” and customize it to my own liking and so that it fully fits the film’s genre and target atmosphere.

WHAT IS THE CURRENT STATUS OF MY PRE PRODUCTION WORK? The current status of my pre production work is not too bad as I

have completed a lot of the required coursework needed and the remaining ten pieces are about sixty percent done and can be finished with ease. I must admit, I was rather confused at certain moments, but I am pushing through. Some examples of the work I have finished are:

My Production Journey - Part 1 Audience Theory Prelim Task3 - Chase Sequence Final Ideas Media Studies Pre-Lim Task Feedback Narrative theory presentation Film/Series Opening Analysis Prelim Task 1 - Match on action Camera shot pre lim task Mise En Scene Presentation

CHANGES OF MY DECISIONS IN PRE PRODUCTIONA continuation of Decisions and RevisionsBy Haaris Hussain

DECISIONS I HAVE REVISED/CHANGED FROM MY INITIAL IDEAS TO WEEK 4 OF PRE PRODUCTION In terms of actually filming my film opening, I have

decided to shoot it both inside and outside as it links with the storyboard I have created.

The opening itself shall be shot in Falcon City as it fits more to the type of housing and scenery I wanted to be featured in the opening in the first place.

I have successfully chosen my actors and have the equipment needed for making my film opening at my house in an easily accessible area. I may buy new equipment later on if needed and perhaps even get help from friends if I feel the movie is lacking in terms of background characters or in case I struggle to choose one edit over the other.

WHY DID I CHANGE THE LOCATION AND WHAT ELSE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE? I have changed my previously planned

filming location (The Springs) to Falcon City due to the fact that Falcon City has larger houses and a middle to high class area which fits with the main character of the film, Hana Morningrove.

My chosen actors are also subject to change as I may find people who fit the role of a certain character better than the current actor chosen to play them.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR ME TO KEEP REVIEWING MY IDEAS DURING THE PRE PRODUCTION PROCESS? It’s very important for me to constantly

review my ideas during the pre production process as this means my current ideas are still in development and as soon as they go out of development we want them to be solid ideas that can make this horror movie work.

Along with this, It helps me adapt to my target audience, I may complete a certain piece of research and get a new idea which my audience could be interested in.

During all the research, I shall end up getting fresh creative ideas along the way.
