The Decision House™ service is based on the premise that increasing the number and diversity of perspectives throughout the decision-making process, will have a positive impact on the outcome.

The Decision House™ foundation starts with defining the values that drive the decision-making process. On the next level, the problem will be accurately defined and the stakeholders will be analysed. The third floor involves the application of four thinking modes: reductionist, holistic, emotional and intuitive. On the fourth floor, the option & scenario space will be created followed by a risk assessment. Finally, on the top floor, the decision will be made.

In each room of the Decision House™, a number of tasks has to be fulfilled, for which selected tools are introduced and key take-aways will be captured on a canvas.

Add perspectives Increase diversity

By examining complex problemsfrom as many angles as possible, more alternative solutions andscenarios will be generated.

By making sure that the applied perspectives are sufficiently different, the alternative solutions are likely to be more diverse.

By considering all stakeholders, alignment and accountability will improve, which has a positive effect on the execution phase.

Becoming more skilful in decision-making will result in an increase in confidence.

The principal aim of the Decision House™ is to guide the team towards making a skilful decision related to their present challenge.

Example applications:

Novelty: An acquisition target has been identified, but this target is operating outside the industry within which the acquirer operates. The corporate strategy team has to decide whether to pursue this opportunity.

Get back on track: Several years ago, an international team was formed to develop a promising project. The team has encountered major problems, is under severe pressure and needs to regain focus quickly.

Decision health check: The board has to decide on a restructuring process. The decision-making has taken a number of months. A preferred solution has been selected and prior to making a final decision a last “audit” is performed.

Speed up the process: A newly formed business unit has to develop a strategy.

Decision House™ has been developed for middle to senior management of large internationally operating organisations. The concept has been designed to support complex decision-making involving uncertainty, ambiguity and diverse stakeholder needs.

Uberdimension was established in 2011 with the purpose to improve decision-making within large internationally operating organisations, by providing best-practice professional support.

Uberdimension was founded by Edwin van Eijbergen, an international learning and development expert, who has over 20 years of experience in designing, delivering and organising executive facilitation and training for a global audience. In addition to executive-level management experience with the financial publishing group Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc. (London, FTSE 250) in Europe, Asia and North America, he has cooperated with the Parmenides Foundation, a European scientific research centre that studies complex thinking.

Edwin completed his Masters degree in Business Administration in 1999 with Henley Management College in the UK and now lives with his family in greater Munich, Germany. Since moving to Germany, he has worked with leading organisations such as BMW, Airbus, Adidas, AIG, Bosch, ZF and Allianz.
