    Since December 3, 1979, Havana has been the main venue for the International Festival of New LatinAmerican Cinema, which has served as a launch pad for LatinAmerican cinematography and become one ofthe leading festivals of the region. Its the variety and creativity of films shown at the Havana Film Festivalevery year that attract thousands of visitors eager to experience Latin American cinema, meet its mostsignificant figures, attend collateral screenings and throw themselves into the frenzied comings and goingsof millions of Cuban moviegoers.

    The Cuban artist Carlos Quintana exhibits hiswork for the first time at the National Museumwith canvases of recent creation. Quintanaspaintings have visible traces of the informelmovement and abstract expressionism, with aparticularly expressive use of drawing andcolor.

    This exhibit by the designer Jorge RodriguezDiez (R10) explores the particular visual natureof 1950s advertisements from the US withpatterns and stereotypes that are still presentin the Cuban visual popular imaginary.

    Works by Servando Cabrera Moreno from the 1950s, a little known creative stage of the artistthat is characterized by abstractionism and isevidently influenced by Picasso, Joan Mir andPaul Klee.
