FOLK GROUP LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS "He who sings, prays twice." The St. Stans Folk Group is actively seeking vocalists and instrumentalists. We are looking for women and men who can commit to the 11 A.M. Mass on a weekly basis, and who are also willing to practice/attend Thursday night rehearsals. No prior choral experience is necessary. If you are interested, please contact the parish office with your name, email address and telephone number, and one of the group leaders, Bill or Marji, will get back to you. We're looking forward to hearing from you!

JELLY NEWS Thank you for all your “giving” during my jelly sale the weekend of November 23-24. So many of you supported this project in many ways. You picked the berries last summer, bought sugar and pectin and jars, returned old jars, made labels for the jars, grew the beets, made some of the hats and baby blankets, transported the jellies to and from the hall, helped with the set-up of the tables, manned each station at the sale and cleaned up after the last Mass. There are too many names to print here so I will give you the chance to earn your reward in heaven. I sincerely thank Fr. Backes and those involved in this endeavor to “Hear the Cry of the Poor” of the Newburgh area. It was a thrill for me to see you enjoy making choices as you went from table to table. May the Lord bless each of you for being part of this “Giving Weekend.” – Sister Mary Liegey

We are thrilled to report that a check for $2,044 was sent to the Newburgh Ministry – thank you to all who supported Sister Mary’s efforts this year! From the desk of Father Backes...

“Cup of coffee a day for the parish” campaign: Up-date

We finally have enough information to give you a report on our Increased Giving campaign and it is looking very promising, thanks to all of you. In the weeks leading up to the start of the campaign (June 30- October 6), our Sunday collection was averaging $5284. In the 7 weeks since the campaign began (between October 13 and November 24), our weekly average was up to $6,172. This is an average increase of approximately $888 per week since we began our appeal. However, during November the weekly average was $6329! This is very, very encouraging and indicates a possible increase in our yearly projections of over $45,000. These campaigns work as long as everyone is able to continue what they pledged. Your generous response is a truly great start. We pray that it may continue so that we can do more for our parish and our community. Thank you so very much... we knew you would come through like you always do. May God bless us all.
