Is Tere A Santa?1. Santas Workload Tere are two billion
children in the world, but since Santa doesnt appearto handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, and Budischildren, that reduces his workload to 15% o the totalor 300 million. At an average rate o 3.5 children perhousehold, thats 85.7 million homes. Santa has 31
hours o Christmas to work with, thanks to the differentimes zones and the rotation o the Earth, assuminghe travels East to West. Tis works out to 767.9 visitper second. So or each household with good childrenSanta has about 1/1,000th o a second to park, hop outo the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockingsdistribute the presents, eat whatever snacks have beenlef, get back up the chimney, into the sleigh and moveon to the next house.
2. Te ime/Distance Factor Assuming tha
these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed aroundthe Earth, were talking about .78 miles per household, atotal trip o 75.5 million miles.
3. Calculation of Estimated Speed Tis meanthat Santas sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, or3,000 times the speed o sound.
4. Santas Payload Assuming that each childgets nothing more than a medium-size Lego set (aboutwo pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, nocounting Santa, who is invariably described as heavy.
On land, normal reindeer could pull no more than 300pounds, and even granting that flying reindeer couldpull 10 times the normal amount, Santas going to need214,200 reindeer to pull his sleigh. Tis increases thepayload to 353,430 tons, or our times the weight o theQueen Elizabeth.
Conclusion: A craf o 353,430 tons, traveling a650 miles per second, creates enormous air resistanceTis will heat up Mr. Claus and his sleigh like a spacecrafreentering Earths atmosphere.
ranslation: I there is a Santa, hes toast!

I youre dreaming o a White Christmas withresh-allen snow, yesterday may have been a bit o a
letdown, at least here in Glasgow where an inch anda hal was in the orecast but turned out to be a no-snow (which was a-okay with us at the Buzz). However, theres still a pretty good chance asmost areas o northeast Montana can expect a WhiteChristmas. Precipitation may begin as rain witha slight chance o reezing rain early Wednesday.Precipitation should all be switched over to snowby the early aternoon hours on Wednesday. Mostareas o northeast Montana will see one inch orless. However southwest Phillips, Petroleum, and
southwest Garield counties could see upwardso our inches. Snow looks to linger into the midaternoon hours o Christmas day.

A Steak in AgA Monthly Report by R-CALF USA
Recently the Chicago MercantileExchange Inc ., (CME) took emergencyaction to unlock the stalled eeder cattle
utures market that had been lockedthe limit down or an unprecedentedfive consecutive days. In response tothe lockdown, cash eeder cattle pricesell approximately $120 per head oran 800 lb. steer, in just two weeks. Tere are many reasons this couldhave happened including an increasein corn prices and negative eedingmargins. However, because the marketis thin and cleared by cash rather than
by delivery o the actual commodity, itis vulnerable to manipulation. R-CALF USA has asked the CMEand the Commodity Futures radingCommission (CFC) to investigate thisevent to determine i our suspicions omarket manipulation are correct. Ag Secretary Vilsack blamedproducers or his checkoff ailure in arecent interview with DN Ag PolicyEditor Chris Clayton. Vilsack hadissued a ormal notice in the Federal
Register on November 10, 2014,
seeking public comments on howthose reorms should look. R-CALF USA submittedcomments that reute Vilsacks claimthat the industry agrees more moneyis needed or the checkoff. Tecomments state that afer a decade
o inaction by USDA to correct theabuses, corruption and conflicts ointerest that pervade the currentnational Bee Checkoff Program, members o R-CALF USA votedoverwhelmingly to urge Congress torepeal the program. A 2010 independent audit reportrevealed that the checkoff programsprimary contractor, the NationalCattlemens Bee Association
(NCBA), misappropriated over$216,000, which the NCBA was laterorced to pay back. Vilsack is responsible or ensuringthat the mandatory assessmentscollected rom U.S. cattle producersare being properly spent and he hasailed his responsibility. Blaming hardworking U.S. cattle producers or thatailure is disgraceul, as is pullingbaseless acts out o thin air. Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD)
outbreaks persist in South Korea
despite wishul thinking by Ag SecretaryVilsack and World Organization oAnimal Health (OIE). FMD is perhapthe most contagious disease known tocloven-ooted animals like cattle, hogssheep, deer and elk. Vilsack has alreadyrelaxed import restrictions on livestockand meat rom certain areas withincounties with FMD and now proposeto greatly expand the areas within thoseFMD-affected countries that would beligible to export livestock and meat tothe United States. But that would be irresponsibland dangerous according to R-CALFUSA. For example, look at threcurring outbreaks o FMD in SouthKorea, a country that both Vilsack and
the OIE has declared ree o FMDHowever, South Korea continues tohave FMD breakouts and the officiacause is unknown or inconclusive. Te public can still commenon Vilsacks proposal to allow theimportation of fresh meat from
FMD-affected Northern ArgentinaComments must be submitted onor beore December 29, 2014. ocomment, go to: http://www.regulations.gov/#!dock

Well then... his riend pondered, ...why dont youcelebrate April first?
