Dear Friends in Christ,
That’s what the angels sang the day Jesus was born: “Glory to God in the highest
and peace to His people on earth.” What a wonderful moment that was. We live in a world
that could use some peace. Even our personal lives are so much better when we have
peace. Peace with God, peace with others, peace with ourselves. Peace is something
many people never find. They look for it yet cannot find it. They work for it and it still eludes
them. They try to make it and it gets broken. The only real peace is the peace from above,
God’s peace, the peace of the Lord.
God’s peace is not the absence of war or conflict. It’s the presence of the One who
brings peace, the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. We can have peace by having faith and
putting our trust in Him. It comes as a gift. It can be received as you might receive a gift at
Christmas, but it is much more valuable and it will last. With everything else going on in
your life this Christmas season, I hope you will find time to open the best gift of all. The gift
of peace that Christ has for you. May you and yours have the best Christmas ever.
We will be celebrating the birth of Christ the Lord again this Christmas at Jerusalem
and I hope you will be able to attend Services. They are always something special and I
want to thank everyone who has been working and planning to make them so wonderful
again this year. Christmas Eve is a Sunday so our schedule is changing this year. There
will only be one morning Service at 10 AM. The Children’s Christmas Pageant Service,
“A Charlie Brown Christmas,” will be at 4 PM. Candlelight Christmas Communion Services
will be at 7 PM and 10 PM.
Merry Christmas and God bless you all,
Pastor Dan
“Glory to God in the highest and peace to His people on earth.”

Toys for Christmas
We are again looking for local places of business that would be willing to display our ‘blue’ barrels for contributions to the Food Pantry Christmas Toy drive. Most of our children live in the Perkiomen school district. We are asking for your help by placing a blue barrel in your place of business to collect new unwrapped toys. The toys will be matched with a child in the immediate area. We need new, unwrapped gifts for all ages - baby through 17 years old. Without your help many children in our area will not have gifts for Christmas.
If you decide to help, we will work with you on a schedule to empty the barrel. Your assistance in this project will mean more to our families than you can imagine! Each year the need gets greater. If you can help, please contact Lynda Ayres at 610-489-7603. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Please note that JLC will have a blue barrel located in the Cloister and it will be marked. Thank you!
December
Our ALLELUIA Banner that we use at EASTER time out at Ott’s Mountain and all through the Easter season is in need of refurbishing! This Banner was made in the early 90’s! It was created with the congregations help! All the butterflies on the banner were made by congregation members! At this time, we are asking for members to use their creativity with their families or get together with others and make new memories and new butterflies to adorn a new banner! There will also be a station set up at the Advent Luncheon with materials available for your use or bring your own materials and work on this project with others! We will continue to collect new butterflies till the first of the year! Plans are to have the banner complete for Easter!
Thank you from Worship & Music & Membership Committees!

MUHLENBERG EXHIBIT Open April 9 through
December 31, 2017 The Muhlenberg Family
of Pennsylvania
Dear Friends in Christ,
No season of the year is quite like Christmas. Most of us have wonderful memories of happy family gatherings, coming home to the smell of fresh-baked
cookies, the Christmas tree, the church decorated with evergreens and poinsettias, and wonderful music of the season. As a contemporary musical proclaims, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” That’s especially true of those of us who call ourselves “Christians.”
We get our name from the name of the Savior born in Bethlehem. Believers in that Savior were first called “Christians” or “Christ’s Ones” at Antioch. Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are “Christ’s Ones.” We belong to Him for time and for eternity. We are “Christ’s Ones” because the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world (1 John 4:14).
And that’s why we give gifts at Christmas. When we give gifts, we are commemorating the greatest gift of all, the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ to be our Savior. And that’s also why we give gifts to the Lord. Not because “poor God” needs our help to pay the bills. Not because, well, after all, it is Jesus’ birthday, so we should give the Guest of Honor a present. None of that is what motivates us in our giving.
We give out of hearts of gratitude for the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ. We give out of hearts of love because Christ has redeemed us and given us a new name, that of Christians. We give in response to God’s love for us, knowing all that we have belongs to God.
As we come to the end of the year, the needs here at Jerusalem Lutheran are great, but as we join together in a sacrifice of praise to God through a special Christmas offering, the needs can be met in full — and more. Thanks for prayerfully considering your response to God’s love for you and for giving as God enables and leads in your life. May the joy of the Christ-child who became our Savior be yours.
Yours in Christ, The Stewardship Committee
The Mustard Seed Puppeteers would like to thank Nancy Arnold for
her artistic talents in making our signs for the Puppet Festival. We would
also like to thank the congregation for their generous donations to help with
the costs of the Festival. We are blessed and are excited to share
God's Word through our puppet show!
The Sunday School students and teachers would like to thank the congregation for their generous donations for
the hurricane relief collection project. There were over 1,000 items collected and donated to the Joey
Perez Ministry in Philadelphia. The items were dropped off on November 4th and will be packed onto
shipping containers headed to Puerto Rico!
Merciful Father, we offer with joy and thanksgiving what you have first given us - ourselves, our time and our possessions, signs of your gracious love.
Receive them for the sake of him who offered himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In December, there is an extra amount of excitement and wonder in the air at Jerusalem Lutheran Nursery School and Day Care as we get ready to celebrate
Christmas. The children will be busy learning new songs, making holiday gifts, viewing the Chrismon tree, and enjoying a special presentation from Pastor Dan in celebration of the birth of Jesus. In addition, we will spread Christmas cheer throughout Schwenksville as we go caroling on Second Street as well as the Post Office and banks. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

Please join us for a delightful evening of joy and merriment as we celebrate Christmas. Toddlers through School Agers will be performing a variety of holiday songs and finger plays. They will be accompanied by Mr. David Crist. Light refreshments will be served following the program. Also, raffle tickets for some beautiful gift baskets will be available to purchase. Making the morning flow smoothly for all involved is very important to the worship experience both for the Acolyte and

General Information about Sponsoring Bulletins
The cost of sponsoring special bulletin covers for a Sunday morning is $20.00. If you wish to sponsor bulletins please contact the Church Office at 610-287-7104 several weeks in advance to select the covers to be ordered. We will also need the dedication message you wish included in the Bulletin on the specified date. Checks should be made payable to Jerusalem Lutheran Church and “bulletin sponsor” should be written in the memo part of the check. Thank you.
General Information about Donating Altar or Chancel Flowers
Altar flowers consist of the two bouquets, one on either side of the altar. The cost of altar flowers is $37.10. Chancel flowers consist of one arrangement, usually placed under the cross. The cost of chancel flowers is $26.50. More than one family can donate chancel flowers on any given Sunday.
After donating, a bill from our florist, Risher Van Horn, will be sent to you. Please pay the florist directly (by mail) upon the receipt of their bill.
After the final church service the flowers are yours to keep. The vases for the altar flowers must stay at the church, so please only take the insert of flowers (the bouquets) with you. There are plastic containers found in the plastic box in the Narthex (which do not need to be returned) in which to carry your altar flowers home. The chancel flower arrangement can be taken as is. Any flowers remaining on Monday will be taken to shut-ins or those in the hospital.
ANYONE can donate altar or chancel flowers. Please just take a moment to sign up and write a dedication in the “MESSAGE” box about whom you would like to honor or remember. Also, please
indicate if you wish to take the flowers or whether Senior Concerns can deliver them to our shut-ins. The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board across from the Coffee Corner.
Any questions or comments about the flowers are welcome. Please contact the Church Office. Thank you.
Update your Email Address and Phone Number !!!!
As many of you are aware, we are using email for distribution of the monthly Good News (as well as mailing it) and sending
out reminders of events & news about our members. Please help us by sending the church secretary ([email protected]) your current preferred email address. Also, if you have changed your
phone number from a landline to a mobile number, please let the office know your current preferred phone number for updating our directory.
