Garbage Collection Schedule During Year-End and New-Year Holiday

You Can’t Bring Out Waste to Collection Station

From Tuesday, December 31 to Friday, January 3

Inzai Clean Center will close from Tuesday, December 31 to Friday, January 3. Please don’t

bring garbage to collection stations during this time as there will be no trash collection. Please

5

check out the last and the first collection day of your area before and after year-end and New

Year holiday on the chart below.

During year-end holiday season, every household does year-end house cleaning (ohsoji) and

larger volume of trash is generated. Please make a plan to put out waste to avoid filling up the

garbage collection station. Please note that you should make an appointment early if you have

bulky waste to be collected as appointments will be filled early this time of the year.

Please remind that Inzai Clean Center doesn’t collect personal computers, TV sets, air

conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, washers and clothes driers. Please ask the shop where you

bought the appliance or a city-licensed collection contractor for collection.

Follow Rules When You Dispose of Garbage

If you don’t follow garbage rules when you dispose of waste, it will cause various environmental

and hygienic problems in the community such as attracting stray cats, emitting unpleasant

smell and causing pest outbreak. Please check out what day your garbage is to be collected and

how to separate garbage for keeping your community clean.

How to Bring Out Garbage

・Put out garbage to a designated garbage collection station by 8:30am on a collection day. Don’t

leave garbage in the station except collection days.

・Sort out trash according to the rules. Put each of the sorted waste in a designated bag before

you bring it out. If you use a wrong bag, it will not be collected.

・When you dispose of cooking gas canisters or spray cans, use them up completely and pierce a

hall in the container to release remaining gas. Put them out as non-combustible garbage,

moyasanai gomi. If you skip this process, it may cause a garbage truck fire and it is very

dangerous.

How to Dispose of Recyclable Items

① Rinse out bottles, cans and PET bottles with water. Bring them to a garbage collection

station and put each of them in a designated collection bag installed there. Don’t leave

foreign object like cigarette butts in containers. Before you dispose of PET bottle, remove

cap and label, and crush the bottle. Do not take away the collection bags from the station as

these bags are for everyone to use in the community.

② Clean plastic containers and wrapper by washing or wiping dirt. If they are dirty, they may

not be recycled.

③ Sort papers by type such as newspapers, magazines, cardboard boxes, milk and juice

cartons, and leaflets according to the garbage rules, and tie each of sorted paper in a bundle.

Don’t bring papers out when it rains. Leaflets and flyers can be put in an unwanted paper

bag to keep them together.

6

④ Put fabric in a clear plastic bag, or a bag for plastic container and wrapper (yellow bag), and

write “布” (fabric) on the bag. Don’t bring it out when it rains. Fabric must be clean. Quilted

fabric is not accepted.

⑤ Used cooking oil is collected at following places. Please fill oil in a container like a PET

bottle and bring it to the collection box set at these facilities. Check out their holidays

before you visit.
