Hope this is a joyous, albeit hectic, time for you and your family. Our first meeting of November featured a presentation by the new Provost of Potomac State University, Dr. Leonard Colelli. Our second meeting of the month featured a presentation by John Burns, the Area Engineer from the State Highway Administration. He gave us a fascinating presentation on the new bridge connecting Keyser and McCoole. This was followed by a lively question and answer session. Our first meeting of December will be our Annual Christmas Dinner at the Davis Center on the campus of Potomac State College. Our second meeting of the month will be held at University Place at Potomac State on the 20th at 6:30. The agenda for this meeting will include an end of the year review and a discussion of upcoming service projects. The winning peace poster has been chosen from District 29 I. Courtney Lough, a student from the Robert L. Bland Middle School, submitted the winning entry. She was sponsored by the Jane Lew Lions Club. Her winning poster will now be sent to be judged on the multiple district level. Twelve peace posters were submitted to be judged on the district level. The theme for this year’s peace poster was “Imagine Peace”. Congratulations to Courtney and best of luck on the next level of judging. Thanks to our Keyser Lions who served as judges for the local contest. Here is an upcoming event that should be of interest to the Keyser Lions: The 17th Annual West Virginia Leadership School will be taking place at Flatwoods Days Hotel from January 25-27, 2013. More information and registration forms are available on the District Governor’s website. To get the early discounted registration fee of $100, your registration form and check need to be postmarked by December 12, 2012. The deadline for room reservations at the hotel is January 5th.
