C o l o r a d o G i v e s d ayThe Highlands ranch Cultural Affairs Association (CAA) has now been accepted into
the Colorado Gives Day program. Tuesday, Dec. 6, (midnight to midnight) is the 2011
dedicated giving day and donations will be accepted through the online giving web site
www.GivingFirst.org. One Hundred percent of Colorado Gives Day donations go directly to
Colorado nonprofit organizations.
In 2010 Community First Foundation created Colorado Gives Day, a day dedicated for
Coloradoans to give to the charity of their choice. The Community First Foundation is a
nonprofit, tax-exempt and publicly-supported organization that encourages charitable giving
by providing comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information about local charities that
improve community well-being. It accepts its funds from donors and makes distributions
back to the community in the form of grants.

2012 HrCA buDGET - The HrCA board of Directors
adopted the 2012 budget at their November meeting.
You will find the entire budget at www.HrCAonline.org
under Community News. We will also publish a summary 2012 budget in the
January Newsletter.
HOlIDAY EvENTS IN HIGHlANDS rANCH - The events put on by HrCA and the
Highlands ranch Cultural Affairs Association help build a sense of community, especially
at Holiday Season. Participate in our hometown spirit by attending several of the fun
and festive events that we plan in December.
SNOW rEmOvAl - Snow removal on the public streets is the responsibility of
Douglas County Government. Trails and sidewalks along major arterials or streets such
as university and broadway are generally the responsibility of the Highlands ranch
metro District. HrCA takes the responsibility for snow removal on our recreation
center sites. As homeowners we are responsible for snow removal on our sidewalks
and driveways. Douglas County has an ordinance that requires homeowners to remove
snow from sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of the snow storm. mailboxes are
generally the responsibility of the property owner close to the area. This is a great
season to help out if you know someone in your neighborhood that could use a hand.
2012 FACIlITY ClOSurE SCHEDulE - The board of Directors also adopted the
2012 Facility Closure Schedule. Have you ever come to one of the recreation centers
during the spring and summer only to find that it is closed for the Annual maintenance
Closure? Our annual schedule is posted on the web page under General Information/
Facilities and locations.
As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, remember that more members
come inside to stay fit. So enjoy your visit and be courteous to others. If you ever need
assistance please contact one of our staff – we are always happy to help.
All of us at HrCA wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
a few reMinders
All lighting and decorations may be put
up 30 days prior to the holiday, and
then must be removed within 30 days
following the holiday. So remember
when climbing on the roof on a sunny
day in early December, you will have to
be up on that same roof in January to
take them down. Please be careful.
Wind can cause trash problems
throughout the community. On trash
days, spend a few extra minutes
appropriately bagging and securely tying
all of your trash so it won’t blow away.
Also, remember to store miscellaneous
items such as trash containers, lawn
tools, boxes, etc. out of sight.
If you have dead plant materials resulting
from snow storms in your yard, please
have them removed. Clean-up in the fall
and winter will make spring maintenance
next year much easier.
be a good neighbor by following a few
common sense rules such as keeping
up your property, storing items out of
sight, utilizing your driveway and garage
or parking in front of your own home as
much as possible. Also, be courteous of
your neighbors by cleaning up after your
pets, and be conscientious of barking
dogs.
let’s all have a wonderful holiday season.
