HOME BEFORE THE
HOLIDAYS
The Family Support Center, in partner-ship with other concerned homelessservice providers and advocates, islaunching a fundraising campaign toprovide housing assistance to home-less families this winter. As homelessadvocate Selena Kilmoyer noted, last
year families at our shelter receivedtons of toys and things they didnt needduring the holidays. What they reallyneeded was money for housing!
Our hope is that businesses, individu-als, school classrooms, service clubs,
government agencies, church groups, and more will join together with theirfriends to raise money to help home-less families put down a deposit andpay rent on a house or apartment.
Similar to Adopt-a Family style pro-grams, people can choose an anony-
mous family to raise money (ideas:house parties, proceeds from an event, pooling donations together, passing aplate, putting a jar out, raffles, makingcalls to get pledges, etc.) or just write acheck!
100% of funds raised will be allocatedto homeless families working with localcase managers. The Family SupportCenter has offered to lead this effortand be the fiscal sponsor. We will notbe taking any administrative fees fromdonations to this project. For more in-
formation on how to participate or be-coming a Community Parnter, contactSchel l i at [email protected].

OUR WORLD NEEDS INTERFAITH UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION
Dear Friend,
Thanks to our faithful supporters, Interfaith Works continues to present programs and eventsthat engage hundreds of Thurston County residents in service, advocacy, study, and dialogue.
Just last month, in response to a homicide at Lattins Cider Mill, IW conducted a Moment ofBlessing, a public ceremony to reclaim the place of violence as a place of life and peace, and tobring comfort and healing to the victims neighbors, family and friends. Thank you so much forcreating healing in our community, said one community member. we have come to Lattin'sregularly with all of our kids for over 20 years. This feels close to home.
Our contributors have made this and other work possible:
Emergency Overflow Shelterfor homeless women and families provided 107 individualswith shelter last winter, for a total of 1889 bed nights (1 person, 1 bed, 1 night= 1 bed night)
Thurston County Crop Walk has raised over $1,000,000 for hunger relief since 1980 Puget Sound Interfaith Youth Camp builds peace through friendships among youth of
many faith traditions
Earth Stewardship Committee promotes community education and action aroundenvironmental issues

FOND FAREWELL
Interfaith Works wishes a fond farewell to Reverend Mary Olney-Loyd, pastor of First Christian Church. She will be leaving her post there at the end of this year, where she has served since summer of 2003.Mary brought a strong sense of service to the congregation, helping them become deeply involved in min-istries to the homeless and marginalized, particularly in downtown Olympia. An early and strong proponentof Camp Quixote, under her leadership First Christian was one of the first congregations to host the camp. Her congregation has continued annually hosting IWs Emergency Overflow Shelter, and this year theyprovided 10 weeks of continuous shelter for families during summer months.
Mary will be missed by many. Her infectious smile and cheerful nature brighten any gathering. Her commit-
ment to serving and helping others is an example for her church and for the wider community. When askedwhere she will be going next Mary answered, God hasnt told me that yet. Wherever she goes, we can besure that Mary will be found in the forefront of those working to make her community a better place for eve-ryone. Blessings and Good luck, Mary, as you journey forward!
