THE FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY:

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated on December 8, Many people believe that the feast

celebrates Jesus’ conception, but in fact it celebrates Mary’s Immaculate Conception; the fact that Mary was, from the very first moment of her existence (her conception), without sin, and chosen to be the Mother of

Jesus. The Immaculate Conception means that Mary, whose

conception was brought about the normal way, was conceived without original sin or its stain that’s what “immaculate” means: without stain. The essence of original sin consists in the deprivation of sanctifying

grace, and its stain is a corrupt nature. Mary was preserved from these defects by Gods grace; from the first instant of her existence she was in

the state of sanctifying grace and was free from the corrupt nature original sin brings.

When discussing the Immaculate Conception, an implicit reference may be found in the angels greeting to Mary. The angel

Gabriel said, “Hall, full of grace, the Lord is with you” (Luke 1:28). The phrase “full of grace” is a translation of the Greek word kecharitomene.

It therefore expresses a characteristic quality of Mary.

Pope Francis has appointed

Bishop Daniel E. Garcia,

auxiliary bishop of Austin,

TX, as Bishop of the Diocese

of Monterey, California (USA)

Bishop Daniel Garcia,

Auxiliary Bishop of Austin,

Texas since 2015, has been

appointed by Pope Francis as

the Bishop of Monterey in California.

Bishop Garcia was born in

Cameron, Texas in 1960. He

was ordained a priest in 1988

after completing studies at

the St Mary’s Seminary

which is part of University of St Thomas in Houston, TX. In 2007

he obtained a Master’s Degree in Liturgy from St John’s

University in Collegeville, MN.

El Papa Francisco ha nombrado

al Obispo Daniel E. García, el

Monterey, California (USA).

El Obispo Daniel García fue el

Obispo Auxiliar de Austin

Texas desde el 2015, ahora ha

sido asignado por El Papa Francisco como el Obispo de la

Diócesis de Monterey

California.

El Obispo García nació en

Cameron, Texas en 1960. El

fue ordenado sacerdote en 1988

después de completar sus estudios en el seminario de Santa

María, que es parte de la Universidad de San Thomas en Houston

Texas. En el 2007 el obtuvo la Maestría en Liturgia de la

Universidad de San Juan en Collegeville, MN.
