John 8:31-32

Debt is defined as:

1. something that is owed or that one is bound to pay to or perform for another

2. a liability or obligation to pay or render something

3. the condition of being under such an obligation

The Danger of Debt

Proverbs 22:7: …the borrower is servant to the lender.


Deception of Debt

God is our Provider. God says, “I will provide all your needs according to my riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Phillipians 4:19)

Debt says, “God’s too slow. You never know when He’s going to show up. Let’s just help God out. You need that new shirt right now. You deserve it…as hard as you work.”


Two Economic Systems

Matthew 6:24-33 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will

hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink;

nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not,

neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the

oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal

shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have

need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added

unto you.

God’s System:

God• God adds all the

things to you.

World’s System• Serve mammon• Worry• Toil• Seek things• You add things to

yourself by working hard and using debt.


Romans 12:2 (NLT)

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.


Jesus Feeds 5000 MenMatthew 14:15-20:15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is

a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18 He said, Bring them hither to me. 19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took

the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.


John 6:12
