Dear reader Trialogue recently hosted its annual Business in Society Conference, which brought together more than 400 stakeholders in development to share lessons, strengthen collaboration and inspire innovation. Our global exchange partner, CECP (Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy), also held its annual summit in New York. Insights from these industry-leading events and much more below – enjoy the read! Watch the highlights The conference line-up featured more than 50 expert contributors, including thought-provoking and inspirational keynote addresses by Thuli Madonsela, who spoke on closing the inequality gap in South Africa , and Bonang Mohale who underscored the importance of ethical business leadership. One of this year's themes was that of the role of business in making the societies they operate in more equitable. A panel of experts discussed how business can support social justice and mitigate the risks associated with action and inaction. Across the Atlantic, our Global Exchange partner CECP hosted its annual summit in New York for corporate leaders, exploring how companies can be a strategic force for good. The theme for 2018 was Leading through Complexity. The summit invited various business leaders to explore the complexity of issues such as the effects of globalisation, automation, racial inequity, sexual harassment and more that are facing their businesses. The summit also examined how community engagement work can be rebooted by companies in order to have a bigger impact. Some sessions to note are those that explored how companies can drive long-term systemic change through investments in STEM education, how a culture of purpose in companies can be encouraged as well as considering the future by looking to Generation Z leaders to bring about change and advancing the youth on a global scale.
