POEMS FROM Room 7

The Softest Thing

The softest thing is flour

It is pure white

It is soft like a cushion

It smells like something burning

It dries your mouth up

One grain is almost as small as an atom

By: Liam Sabiston

The Brightest Thing

The brightest thing is the sun

A big orange ball in the sky

It’s as warm as a torch on my arm

By: Dominic Parata

The Longest Thing

The longest thing is a snake

It is slippery as a fish

It sounds like a rustling tree

It looks like a scaly crocodile with its razor-sharp fangs

By: Ben Irvine

The Softest Thing

The softest thing is a kitten

curled up in bed

It is as soft as a fur coat

It is warm as the sand on a

summer day

It smells like a new shoe

And sounds like a purring tiger

Kittens are such soft things

I love it when they purr against

your legs

Don’t you?

By: Katerina van Rooyen

The Coldest Thing

The coldest thing is going to

Antarctica

It is a white home to penguins

It is hard unbreakable ice

It’s so cold it burns

The wind whirls around and the sea is

wavy
