In 1992, the first World Taekwondo Hanmadang contest took place in South Korea and brought together Taekwondo practitioners from around the world. Since then, the Hanmadang has been recognized as the leading international competition on the various Taekwondo techniques and skills. The participation, and the level of professionalism and athleticism seen at these tournaments is truly inspiring.

It is my pleasure to announce the 2nd Annual Oregon State Hanmadang to be held on Saturday, May 4th at Venue 252 in Eugene, Oregon.

This tournament will consist of two parts: the Martial Arts Expo with individual and team demonstration competition, an extreme trick kicking competition with cash prizes, audience chooses winner. There will be performances, demos, vendors and archery, virtual reality gaming, djs and more on Friday night at the Northwest Ninja Park in Springfield. The Pacific Northwest Regional Taekwondo Hanmadang will be held at Venue 252 in Eugene, Oregon. This tournament is now a regional qualifier for the US Open International Taekwondo Hanmadang!

New to the tournament for 2019 we will be demonstrating concrete breaking events, there will be at least two world record attempts, Facebook Live coverage coast to coast, including the North Carolina and New Jersey Hanmadang tournaments, and we’re adding a new Dynamic Archery event to the Saturday morning lineup.

There will be professional officials and judges, high quality tournament medals, custom wooden weapon prizes, swag bags, and an opening ceremony with champion performances, demonstrations, and a visit and introduction by the Mayor of Eugene, Lucy Vinis.

The Oregon State Taekwondo Hanmadang is an authentic, nationally sanctioned USTC event. The Executive Director of the International US Open Taekwondo Hanmadang, Grand Master Doug Fuechsel will be in attendance. He will also be facilitating the Archery and Sword Paper Cutting competition.
