Dear High School Principals and Career Counselors, The Oklahoma City Chapter of The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) offers two types of scholarships to graduating seniors to be awarded for the 2017-18 Freshmen year of College. The applicants must reside in SPE’s Oklahoma City coverage area, which is listed below by county. Alfalfa Coal Greer Love Pontotoc Beckham Custer Hughes McClain Pottowatomie Blaine Dewey Johnston Major Roger Mills Caddo Ellis Kingfisher Marshall Seminole Canadian Garfield Kiowa Murray Washita Carter Garvin Lincoln Okfuskee Woods Cleveland Grady Logan Oklahoma Woodward For the graduating high school seniors to qualify for the scholarships, the candidates must either be 1) pursuing a Petroleum Engineering Degree or 2) the Son or Daughter of a current SPE Member and enrolled in a math or science program. SPE has distributed these scholarships since 1998 and the program has been a huge success. We need your help in finding talented young people. Successful candidates will exhibit superior communication skills and display ability in math and the sciences. The awards will be distributed when the recipient is registered and declared as a full time college freshman in an accredited university. Applications must be received by April 17 th . Candidates will be notified by May 2nd of their application status. An awards luncheon will be held on Thursday May 18 th at the monthly SPE Luncheon in Oklahoma City. enrolled in a curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. The scholarship is paid in two equal portions at the beginnings of the
