Dear Friends,
Welcome to the start of the new Methodist year, and a new beginning as we welcome Revds Phil and Marian Taylor to our Circuit and to their new home in
Uttoxeter. Unfortunately, protracted contract details have meant that they won`t be able to move into their new Manse until mid-September. However, their welcome
service will still take place on September 3rd at Uttoxeter (6.00 pm), when the preacher will be the Deputy Chair of District, Revd Paul Worsnop. Sadly, this also means we have no current telephone number for them also. If anyone wishes to make contact with them, please do so through the office telephone or email. As
soon as contact details are known Caroline will publish them.
As you are all aware the Summer months have been `interesting` (!) as we have juggled the preaching arrangements to cover the services that Revds Sue and Lew would have had. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Revd Stella for all the hard work she has put in this Summer. Her colleagueship alongside Susan Laws is so much
appreciated.
I also want to say a huge thanks for all that our Local Preachers have done over the Summer, but also into this particular quarter as many have offered more preaching appointments than they would usually be able to offer. I`m aware that this places greater stress on the preachers, who are essentially volunteers, and who give of
their best in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ. Once again Caroline has worked tirelessly in producing this plan, especially liaising with preachers (visiting preachers especially) and without her input I would find it so hard to have the time to put it all
together.
Finally, you may see some different visiting preachers on this quarter; this is a direct result of my District deputy chair role. I have been able to make new contacts and
one in particular will be a blessing to our Circuit. That is the appointment of the new District Evangelism Enabler, Revd Chris Briggs who will take two of our preaching appointments for us and alongside Michelle Sims, our District Fresh Expressions
worker, who will deliver her talk on “Risk-taking Mission and Service” at St. Thomas`s on Saturday morning 21st October (10-00-12.00 pm) we are really blessed and served
by our District.
