Here at Salisbury University, 2016-17 wasanother banner academic year. Afterleading the campus for 17 years, I knowevery day that I have the best job in theworld. We have students, faculty and staffwho continue to earn national andinternational recognition; and alumni andfriends like you, who continue to invest inthe University with time, talents andtreasure. We could not be more grateful.

We continue to see many physicalchanges on campus, providing students,student-athletes and coaches the excellentfacilities they deserve. Last fall, we openedthe $117 million Patricia R. Guerrieri

Academic Commons, made possible by a generous $8 million gift from theGuerrieri Family Foundation in honor of matriarch, Patti Lou. The next day,we cut the ribbon on a turf field and video scoreboard at the also very newSea Gull Stadium. In February, we added a hugely improved SoftballStadium. With more athletics complex upgrades on the horizon, SU willboast some of the best outdoor facilities in all of Division III.

Looking to the future, I announced a $5.5 million gift from Dave and PatsyRommel to support SU’s new Center for Entrepreneurship in downtownSalisbury and other activities of the campus and the Franklin P. PerdueSchool of Business. This special investment supports the economicdevelopment efforts of SU and the surrounding community by providing aplace for new business ideas and collaboration to grow.

The SU Foundation also is thinking about the future with the purchase ofsome 8.5 acres of land south of main campus on Route 13. The locationgives the University flexibility in the short and long term for growth andexpansion. It also bolsters our campus footprint to its largest size to date –over 200 acres.
