Queen’s National Scholar Program (QNS) The 2014-2015 QNS competition will function in much the same way as it did last year. For the first stage of the competition, the QNS Advisory Committee will be evaluating each EOI based on its alignment with the priorities of the Faculty and/or School from where the submission emanates, as well as its alignment with the University’s Academic Plan, Strategic Research Plan and Proposed Mandate Statement, which is appended to our Strategic Mandate Agreement. Please note that EOI’s in this round should align especially with the Proposed Mandate Statement. There is no limit on the number of EOI’s that the Dean of a Faculty or School may choose to endorse. The following timeline has been established for the 2014-2015 academic year: October 17, 2014 Completed Expressions of Interest due to the relevant Dean’s office November 3, 2014 Recommendations due from the Deans to the Provost’s Office December 2014 Advertisements posted April 2, 2015 Completed full proposals due to the Provost’s Office Additional information regarding the QNS program is available on the website of the Office of the Provost http://queensu.ca/provost/responsibilities/committees/qnsadvisorycommittee.html. Dean's Honour List with Distinction for the 2013/2014 The Dean’s Honour List with Distinction Reception is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 6:45 pm - 9:30 pm at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre to honour students whose names have been placed on the Dean's Honour List with Distinction for the 2013/2014 academic year. The Dean's Honour List with Distinction recognizes those students who have achieved an academic year GPA that places them in the top 3% of all students within their degree program group, based on the combined GPA for all courses taken in the Fall, Winter and Summer terms. Dr. Craig Walker, a professor and Head of the Department of Drama, will give a brief talk to be followed by a discussion. Department Heads and Undergraduate Chairs or their delegates are invited to attend. Fall Convocation Faculty of Arts and Science Fall Convocations will be held November 18-19, 2014. Please try to attend and encourage your colleagues to do so. This is much appreciated by students and family members.
