Staples, Inc. (508-253-5000) will open four Staples stores during the fourth quarter of its 2009 fiscal year and will open 50 more during its 2010 fiscal year. The office supply and electronics retailer currently operates 1,872 stores nationwide.

Bealls, Inc. (941-747-2355) plans to open a Bealls department store at Altamira Village, a project located along Dunlawton Avenue in Port Orange, FL. The tenant will join CVS at the project, which is currently in the permitting process.

Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) plans to open a 33,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack discount department store at Renaissance Center, located in Durham, NC, during the fall of 2010. The tenant will join Cost Plus World Market and Pier 1 Imports. The company currently operates two full-price Nordstrom stores in NC, with stores in Charlotte and Durham.

Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. (724-273-3400) will open a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in a former Circuit City site located at International Speedway Square in Daytona Beach, FL.

Dollar Tree, Inc. (757-321-5000) will open a total of 240 Dollar Tree stores and relocate or remodel another 75 during its 2009 fiscal year. Through the first three quarters, the company opened 233 stores and relocated or remodeled 74 units. For its 2010 fiscal year, the company plans to open Dollar Tree and Deal$ stores as part of a plan to eventually operate 7,000 Dollar Tree stores nationwide. The company currently operates 3,803 Dollar Tree units and 156 Deal$ locations nationwide.

O’Reilly Automotive, Inc. (417-862-3333) will open O’Reilly Auto Parts stores in Christianburg, Roanoke and Salem, VA this year. The company currently operates 3,415 auto parts stores nationwide.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) plans to open a Walmart Supercenter at the intersection of Mason Avenue and Nova Road in Daytona Beach, FL.

99 Cents Only Stores, Inc. (323-980-8145) will open a 17,000 sq.ft. store in a former Smart & Final site in Fremont, CA. The company currently operates 273 stores throughout AZ, CA, NV and TX.

Kirkland’s, Inc. (731-668-2444) will open between 30 and 40 Kirkland’s stores during its 2010 fiscal year and close as many as 15 locations. The company will show net store growth during fiscal year 2010 for the first time in several years, and closed 35 stores during its 2009 fiscal year while only opening 18 units. The company will focus its openings on replacing productive mall stores and filling in proven markets, and the new stores, with floorplans between 8,000 sq.ft. and 10,000 sq.ft., will be larger than existing stores. The company currently operates 296 home accessory stores, with 78 mall units and 218 off-mall units.

Costco Wholesale Corp. (425-313-8000) plans to open a Costco warehouse store in Hayward, CA.

Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (704-758-1000) will open a 94,000 sq.ft. Lowe’s Home Improvement store at a mixed-use development located at the intersection of 25th Street, Maryland Avenue and 24th Street in Baltimore, MD. The center will break ground during 2010 and Lowe’s Home Improvement will open with the center during 2011.
