TCI consists of six divisions: Graphics, Garment, Furniture, Metal and Marketing/Distribution and Offender Work & Training Programs. TCI was established in 1963 with the passage of Senate Bill 338, the Prison Made Goods Act. TCI manufactures goods and provides services to state and local government agencies and public educational systems.

TCI manufactures a variety of products. The facilities are located inside TDCJ prison units and prison labor is used to produce goods and services.

GRAPHICS/JANITORIAL DIVISION: Printing, License Plates, Signs, Plastics Dinnerware, Boxes, Soaps and Detergent

FURNITURE DIVISION: Custom Wood Furniture, Offi ce Furniture, Modular Furniture, Auditorium Seating and Refi nishing

METAL DIVISION: Metal Signs, Stainless Steel Products, Metal Fabrication, Tire Retreading and Bus Repair

GARMENT/TEXTILE DIVISION: Garment and Textile Mills, Embroidery Operations, Mop/Broom and Leather Facility, Mattresses and Shoe Facilities

MARKETING & DISTRIBUTION DIVISION: Sales, Catalog, Showrooms, Outside Sales Warehouse and Delivery, Austin Warehouse and Delivery.

OFFENDER WORK & TRAINING PROGRAMS DIVISION: Manages four training facilities, which provide eligible offenders the opportunity to earn nationally recognized certifi cations in ares such as A+, Network+, Braille, GIS, welding and Automotive Service Excellence.
