Production, Delivery, andPlacement of Concrete
SKJD makes every effort to schedule concrete pours
during regular work hours:
Monday thru Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM; on Saturdays, 9 AM to 5 PM
However, there have been times at all First Street Tunnel
construction sites when concrete pours must continue
beyond normal work hours:
Concrete plants are independent suppliers and there can be
problems at the plant, causing delays
Concrete trucks are independent suppliers traveling on publicroads; traffic congestion and detours can cause delays
Concrete placement requires all SKJD equipment to be
completely functioning and fully staffed

Reported Incident on August 14at Adams Street CSA
The contractor experienced an equipment problem with the main cranelast Friday evening at the Adams and Flagler Construction Staging Area
The contractor then mobilized its secondary crane to access the shaft
The crew in the shaft were detained while the second crane was putinto position
The main crane began working and the work wrapped up
These types of activities can and do occur with complex construction
projects. They are not uncommon, and contingency plans and actionsare in place to address equipment issues, interruptions, and otherdisturbances.
