Summer 2015

Page 2: Day Camp Guide - North Grenville

Once again this summer we are excited to offer summer day camp programs which include KinderCamp, Camp Summerside, Above the Rim

Basketball Camp, and Make It Your Game Multi-Sports Camp. We invite your child to create memories with us at camp, making this a

summer to remember.

What Can My Camper Expect During a Week at Camp?

Each week campers can expect to participate in a variety of games and activities which include camp songs, arts and crafts, indoor and out-

door sports and games, swimming, skating, beach days, a movie, dress-up days, as well as many other fun and exciting activities. Please

refer to the individual camp calendars for weekly themes, trips, special guests and activities.

*Please note that KinderCampers do not participate in skating or beach days.

What Should My Camper Bring Each Day?

- Picnic Lunch and 2 Healthy Snacks (*MUST be PEANUT/NUT FREE*)

- Refillable Water Bottle

- Sunscreen and Bug Spray (Camp does not supply!)

- Running Shoes and Sandals

- Hat

- Bathing Suit and Towel (Please bring to camp EVERYDAY)

- Blanket and Pillow (KinderCamp ONLY)

Behaviour

The rules of the camp will be discussed with each camper on the first day. Campers are not permitted to wander off unsupervised or leave

camp groups without permission. Camp staff will communicate any concerns to parents so that we can work together to solve problems

before they escalate. We reserve the right to dismiss/suspend any camper who continually displays disruptive or unsafe behavior.

Camper Absenteeism

It is a parent’s responsibility to notify us if a child will not be attending camp on a given day. Parents can call the Recreation Coordinator

Assistant at 613-258-9569 ext. 128.

Lost and Found

Please check the Camp Lost and Found located by the Sign In/Sign Out table each day to claim any lost articles that may belong to your

child. Please label all articles brought to camp with your camper’s name. Please be advised that we are not responsible for lost or stolen

items at camp, therefore we strongly urge you not to send valuables with your child.

Pizza Days

Each Thursday, pizza lunches (which include pizza slices and drinks) will be available to campers for purchase. Your child may order pizza

for $2.00/slice and a drink for $1.00. Campers may choose from pepperoni & cheese or plain cheese and drink options include Pepsi, 7Up

and Juice.

Sunscreen

Please note that sunscreen is not supplied to campers by the camp. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that each camper brings

their own sunscreen with them and that the parent/child apply it once before coming to camp in the morning. Staff will assist campers in

re-applying as needed throughout the day.

NUT FREE ZONE

Due to the severity of tree nut and peanut allergies, our camps are nut free. This means that peanut and all nut products are prohibited

from camp.

Toys/GameBoys/iPods/etc.

Please note that these items are not allowed at camp. We are not responsible for items if they are broken, lost, or stolen. Therefore, we

encourage campers to leave these items at home where they are safe! We have plenty of games and toys for campers to play with when at

camp!

Beach Bonanza

Summer has arrived at KinderCamp, and we will be diving right in and soaking up the sun! This week

we will be learning all about water and waves, and enjoying the warm weather. We will celebrate sum-

mer as we play water games and make some delicious popsicles to cool off. To finish off our sun-

spectacular week, we will be visited by Paul Campbell’s Circus Show. Kick off your summer with us at

KinderCamp!

Week 3: July 13th – 17th

Animal Antics

Deep in the KinderCamp jungle, we will find all kinds of creatures and critters from the animal king-

dom! This week we will be learning about lots of different animals—from those found on the farm to

others in the zoo. We will even learn to act like them when we compete in our very own Critter

Olympics! The Puppet Tamer will also entertain us with his puppeteering skills. To top off our ani-

mal-loving fun, we will celebrate Cow Appreciation Day with some cow games and crafts!

Week 2: July 6th – 10th

Teddy Bear Adventures

Grab your stuffed animals and cozy blankets and head out on a Teddy Bear

Adventure at KinderCamp! We will be spending time with our favourite ted-

dies, and learning about real bears too! Throughout the week, we will cuddle

up with our furry friends for a Teddy Bear Picnic and to watch Yogi Bear. Our

fuzzy guests will also be joined by Steve the Magic Reindeer and Zip-E the Elf’s

Christmas Spectacular. Can’t wait to see you bear!

Preschoolers will have the opportunity to experience a day camp environment, without straying too far from

the structure of a daycare. Preschoolers will interact with children their own age and become accustomed to

daily rules and routines that will help them prepare for future school environments. Expect days filled with

crafts, games, songs, various indoor and outdoor activities, daily story times and down/nap times. Occasion-

ally, children will enjoy special guests. Consider our full-day and half-day registration options. Register early!

Spaces fill up fast! Children should be able to use the washroom with little assistance and should no longer

require a diaper.

Keep your eyes on the sky this week as we soar into

outer space! We will learn about the moon and the

stars, and will even make our own moon rocks and rock-

et ships. On Monday, we will celebrate Moon Day—

the anniversary of the moon landing—with loads of

sions. This week will be out of this world!

adventures! The Hockey Circus Show will visit us to finish off our

week with their ultimate hockey tribute show.

Week 6: August 4th – 7th (No Camp on Monday)

Changing Seasons

The seasons are changing quickly at KinderCamp this week! Each

day we will learn all about one of the four seasons of the year, and

will talk about everything from spring’s rain to winter’s snow!

Let the fun begin when we build ice sculptures in winter and

continue when we play in the leaves in fall. Magician Ben

Lavallee will also join in our weather watching fun with his

magical performance.

Week 8: August 17th –21st

Dinosaur Days Can you hear the dinosaurs roar? This week, we will go

back in time to visit our scaly dinosaur friends! We will

search for long lost fossils on our very own dino dig,

and learn all about the past when we watch The Land

Before Time. The Bone Show will also make an appear-

ance this week to teach us about bones and wow us

with their dino facts. Maybe we’ll even see some

dinosaur footprints!

Week 7: August 10th – 14th

KinderCamp SpeedWay

Zoom! Zoom! Here comes the race cars at the KinderCamp

Speedway! This week, we will have a roaring good time

learning about cars, and will have some races of our own!

wave the checkered flag on our week, we will enjoy Duo

Hulala’s circus tricks and hula hooping.

the look-out for magical surprises, and we will munch on our own
