Students, who meet all eligibility requirements, receive a student-specific award amount to be applied toward tuition, mandatoryfees and books. In addition, postsecondary credit hours taken as aDual Credit Enrollment student, for which Dual Enrollment pay-ment is made are not counted as “attempted-hours” nor are theyincluded in the “combined paid-hours” limit for the purposes ofHOPE Scholarship or Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility.
School counselors have Dual Enrollment information and this link is also helpful:https://www.GAfutures.org/Financial_Aid_Planning/Scholarships/Grants_and_Scholarships/Accel_Program.aspx
Dual Enrollment program provides districtstudents the opportunity to be “dual creditenrolled”. This means a Dual Enrollmentstudent is enrolled at both the high schooland college or technical college. In this pro-gram a student may be part time or full timeat the postsecondary school. The studentreceives credit for approved courses on thehigh school transcript as well as their col-lege or technical college transcript. Thus,Dual Enrollment students take postsec-ondary coursework for credit towards bothhigh school graduation and postsecondaryrequirements. Beginning with Fall term 2016(FY 2017) the program is offered during allterms of the school year: fall, spring andsummer semesters.

Georgia Mathematics focuses on actively engaging the student in thedevelopment of mathematical understanding by working independentlyand cooperatively to solve problems, estimating and computingefficiently, using appropriate tools, concrete models and a variety ofrepresentations, and conducting investigations and recording findings. There is a shift toward applying mathematical concepts and skills in thecontext of authentic problems and student understanding of conceptsrather than merely following a sequence of procedures. In mathematicsclassrooms, students will learn to think critically in a mathematical waywith an understanding that there are many different solution pathwaysand sometimes more than one right answer in applied mathematics.Mathematics is the economy of information. The central idea of allmathematics is to discover how knowing some things leads, viareasoning, to knowing more—without having to commit the informationto memory as a separate fact. It is the reasoned, logical connections thatmake mathematics manageable. The implementation of the GeorgiaStandards of Excellence in Mathematics places the expected emphasis onsense-making, problem solving, reasoning, modeling, representation, connections, and communication.
