This Japanese disaster is now far worse than Three Mile Island and is approaching the severity of Chernobyl. It's going to be a big deal, and we are going to be dealing with it for hundreds of years going into the future. Let’s talk about what is going on, what to do about it, what organs are going to be affected, what to watch out for, and then we will cascade right into the whole story about the thyroid.

One of the most common questions I get all around the world has to do with thyroid. "I went to my doctor; I got diagnosed with a thyroid disorder. I am taking Synthroid for three months now," or "three years now." "What do I do? I don't want to take it anymore."

I was just in Bali, Indonesia. Anybody been to Bali? There may be some folks tuning in at home from Bali, Indonesia. Hello! We had an outstanding time on tour across Australia and then spent a week in Bali; then flew to Seoul, South Korea; and then flew right over Fukushima. You know those little airplanes on the TV screen they have in the airplane now? Where you can see exactly where you are flying? We flew right over Fukushima. We were looking down going, "Uh-oh." The only anti-radiation thing I had on me was ginseng. I took a month's worth of ginseng on one flight.

As you may know, there were six reactors involved. Not only those six reactors, but there is actually another nuclear power plant that was damaged at Onagawa, north of Fukushima, that did leak radiation — and that hasn't even been on the news. And this was all caused by a tsunami.

Here's how a nuclear power plant works. There is a containment chamber with nuclear material in it that is bombarded with neutrons. That heats up and makes steam that runs steam turbines that then generate power. The generators have to run to keep the pumps moving water into the chamber so that it keeps everything cool. That's how it's done.

What happened here was that when the flood occurred, the backup generators kicked in, but they ran out of gas, and were flooded, and then shut down. There was nothing left to pump water into the containment chambers to cool everything down. These six reactors were designed for complete meltdown — meaning they have three containment chambers. They have got the inner containment, the outer containment and then the containment that will be needed if the entire facility were to melt down.

The latest news on Reactor 2 is that we are down to the last containment barrier, which is really bad news; but it's not nearly as bad news as Reactor 3, which is where the plutonium is. Apparently, they stored used plutonium in Reactor 3 that blew up, and it has leaked out.

Radioactive plutonium is so dangerous that it can cause the area to become uninhabitable for 29,000 years.

This is underlying everything I will say here today. We have got to stop this nuclear power business. It is so dangerous.

I read something about this on the internet that was very cryptic. Some guy had put up a comment that said, "Don't you wish this was a coal-burning plant now?" This is a runaway problem. They still have not got it under control. They may never get it under control. It may be another Chernobyl. Fortunately, the plutonium reactor did not explode into the atmosphere like Chernobyl's uranium reactor did. That is very fortunate, because if radioactive plutonium actually exploded out of Reactor 3 — it has leaked out, but it did not explode — then the entire north island of Japan would be uninhabitable for 29,000 years. That's how serious a problem this is, and it is not a joke. They are trying to downplay it in the media because it is such a catastrophe that no one even knows what to say about it.

So we all have to know what to do, because we are in the western hemisphere and we are getting bombarded by this radiation. Radioactive xenon has spread all over the northern hemisphere as a result of this catastrophe. Radioactive xenon, radioactive iodine-131 and radioactive cesium-137 have been detected in Los Angeles and across North America, and are being detected in Europe. It is going to affect all of us and it is going to affect all of us for years and years to come. We realize that there is a solution, and it's interesting what that solution is. It's diet, nutrition, supplements and lifestyle. That's interesting, isn't it?

And that's something that the mass media cannot hide from. They cannot hide from that fact. Diet, nutrition, and lifestyle factors are what protect you. If you have the supplements, you are protected as best as anyone can protect you. If we are ever in a situation like that, we actually can get the best protection possible by immediately getting on the ground. When you get on the ground, the Earth can naturally shield you from ionizing radiation. That's the grounding effect. Can it completely protect you? No. The radiation is too strong, it's too massive. But it is immediate protection that is available to us for free, no supplements required, no food required.

A few days ago, The Japan Times said that the level of iodine-131, which is radioactive iodine in the seawater around Fukushima, is off the charts. It's not measurable. It's too high. They said the contamination was 1250 times above the maximum limit; it's actually 3500 times above the limit today. It's a major disaster.

Here are things to know about radiation and fallout. There is a great astrologer out there named Carolyn Casey. I have done several events with her. She is a really eclectic, very interesting woman, and she has this idea that in our modern world today, what we are eating are toxic mimics of the things we are supposed to be eating. For example, instead of eating potato chips we really should be having fruit — that's the actual natural carbohydrate. Instead of the carbohydrate from fruit, we are taking in a toxic imposter, or a toxic mimic. When it comes to radioactive debris, what is actually occurring is that a toxic imposter will enter instead of a natural mineral.

Let's talk about iodine-131. If we do not have complete saturation in our system of healthy iodine, then iodine-131, which is a vaporous gas, will actually be breathed in and taken up by the thyroid and many other glands and tissues in our bodies, taking the place of healthy iodine. That is the reason why they are telling you to take iodine: because if you have enough iodine, the toxic mimic or imposter can't get into your thyroid. A diseased thyroid is the number one symptom and number one disease associated with radiation poisoning. What does that look like? Thyroid cancer, hypothyroidism.

The half-life of iodine-131 is only eight days. Now that might sound like a short period of time, but that's only the half-life, meaning if we have this much radioactive iodine-131, in eight days we'll have half as much; in another eight days we'll have half as much again; in another eight days we'll have half as much again; in another eight days we'll have half as much again. Does it ever go away? It does not go away. It's diminished radically within the environment, but it does not go away. That's the idea of a half-life. It doesn't actually remove itself from the environment, and that is one of the reasons why this radiation business is so incredibly dangerous and toxic — because it's always going to be around.

The plutonium — was it plutonium-239 that has a half-life of 24,000 years? This stuff is so dangerous, because that's just the half-life. We are in a very, very toxic situation here with the nuclear power plants that we have around just in this country alone. I'm going to show you a map of where they are and what to be aware of, because there are a few of them that are faulty.

By the way, the same week that the Japanese Fukushima disaster blew up and all that started, there was also a leak in Ontario, Canada at the Pickering plant. For those of you who are not aware of what happened, 73,000 liters of radioactive water leaked out into Lake Ontario. This is going on all the time. They're just not telling us. And this is why we have got to stop this stuff: because we know that once it spills, we are not going to get the real story.

Let's keep going. Hiroshima and Nagasaki taught us a lot about radioactive iodine and its effects. That's how we know a lot of what we know. That's how we know that the toxic imposter mineral will get in and that we can protect ourselves by saturating with a healthy

mineral. There is a very interesting story about Hiroshima and Nagasaki that I did not know — I went and reread all the stuff on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because of this whole Fukushima disaster — that originally Nagasaki was not going to be bombed. It was Kyoto. Kyoto was supposed to have been bombed on the morning of August 9, 1945; but as they came over the mountains into Kyoto, the entire area was blanketed in fog and they could see nothing. They couldn't even see where the city was.

It was protected. Kyoto, as you probably know, is the spiritual and cultural center of Japan. It has been for thousands of years. And so there was a spirit protecting it. It said, "Nope. Not this time." So they proceeded on to their second target, which was Nagasaki. I was not aware of that little nuance. Of course, you know that it was a very, very intense war at that time. If you have the opportunity to really go back and research what was happening during the late stages of the war, you’ll see it was absolute horror and bloodshed. The whole dropping of the bomb was to try to stop the war before there had to be a land invasion of Japan.

We learned a lot about nuclear radiation as a result of all of this. Of course, there was not only thyroid cancer, but also leukemia; leukemia is a result of radioactive fallout. The reason why we have had an explosion of childhood leukemia in the 20th century right into the 21st century, in my opinion, is because of all the radioactive debris that is in our environment — radioactive cesium, radioactive iodine, radioactive strontium, radioactive xenon, etc. There has been continuous nuclear testing since 1945 in the atmosphere and in the Earth and in outer space.

Fortunately for us — this is very interesting; I just learned about this — there has been a worldwide network set up on the internet for environmental radiation detection, where people like you and me are able to report onto the internet — without any government involvement, whatsoever — exactly how much radioactivity is showing up in all different parts of the world, so that we can detect if there is actual testing going on that we are being lied to about. Today, at this very time, they are using these detection facilities in order to know what is going on in terms of the distribution of the

Fukushima nuclear fallout, and it's pretty intense. It's pretty intense, because we are getting hit with it; and it could get worse.

We are going to go into some of the different minerals now, aside from iodine. Strontium-90 has a half-life of 29 years. Strontium is competing for the calcium and magnesium receptor sites. Strontium competes with calcium and magnesium. That means, if you are listening closely, that you need to take more what? Calcium and magnesium. That also means that you have got to be careful of foods that normally contain high levels of calcium and magnesium if

Page 5: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

you are in the areas where fallout has occurred. The best bet we can make, actually, is on superfoods.

Kale is wonderful; it's a great source of magnesium and great source of calcium. Parsley is wonderful; it's a great source of calcium and magnesium. But that's not enough. It's not strong enough to really drive all that into you at a high enough dosage where your body will push out the toxic mimic. The way to go here is with chlorella — and some of the other microalgae superfoods: the marine phytoplankton, the spirulina, the blue-green algae — but in particular chlorella.

Chlorella is so high in chlorophyll — it is actually 10 percent chlorophyll. This is a shocking statistic to raw foodists. You guys like raw foods out there? Anybody like wheatgrass? Is there anybody who has done a wheatgrass enema? Some people are like, "Yeah.” The best wheatgrass you have ever had in your life is .25 percent chlorophyll. Chlorella is 10 percent chlorophyll. Chlorella is 40 times higher than wheatgrass in chlorophyll. That's the kind of dosing we are talking about when we are dealing with this type of radioactive debris.

This is particularly dangerous for children, and this is something we are going to see evolve in Japan over the next 30 years. We are going to see childhood leukemia; we are going to see adult-onset thyroid cancer and thyroid disease; we are going to see a huge explosion in all different kinds of cancers. We are going to see bone disorders and bone cancers in children.

And then, what they are going to tell us is, "Oh, it's because of other things." Which is what they always say. We cannot do this again. We have been through Chernobyl; we have been through the atomic bombs; we have been through the Atomic Age. It's got to stop.

And the first step is: we have got to stop all new nuclear power plants worldwide from opening. That's number one. Number two, decommissioning the dangerous ones. I am going to show you three of them that are very dangerous and very close to home for many of us. And finally, we have got to actually move on to developing the breakdown of all nuclear facilities and all nuclear weapons and all spent nuclear fuel rods.

Some of you who have been coming to my seminars have heard me telling you before this Fukushima disaster, "Go back on YouTube and watch actually happened at Chernobyl." Has anybody actually done that? Can you believe the real story? The real is absolutely beyond shocking. Where the reactor blew up in the middle of the night and they came in a helicopter to see what the heck was going on, radiation was off the charts, all over the atmosphere. Over

one million people are suspected to have died from the radiation fallout from Chernobyl.

Page 6: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

A million people over the last 25 years have died from Chernobyl. Where is the public outcry against nuclear power? Where is the public outcry against nuclear warheads? One nuclear plutonium warhead would destroy all of California. One warhead would destroy California for 30,000 years. That is how difficult this stuff is to deal with. It's absolutely the most toxic stuff ever.

Cesium-137 was spread all over Europe by Chernobyl, and it showed up primarily in mushrooms. It will show up in grass for about three to six months and then it cycles through, but in mushrooms it can last for years. Any mushroom — like a medicinal mushroom growing on a tree, like a Reishi in Japan within 200 miles of this Fukushima power plant, is completely contaminated, inedible, absolutely toxic, and cannot be touched, as the situation is right now. And I bet you the situation is worse than what we know right now.

Mushrooms pick it up. Mushrooms actually suck it out of the atmosphere. They clean it up. But then you cannot go out and pick your medicinal mushrooms in Japan. At this point, I would not pick any medicinal mushrooms on the north island of Japan for the next 30,000 years. That's where I'm at with it. That's how dangerous it is. Radioactive cesium gets concentrated there. Radioactive cesium is like potassium; so whenever you have a very high amount of potassium in your body you are able to drive off the toxic imposter, which is cesium-137. Potassium is super-high in all raw foods, especially high in microalgae, like chlorella. Chlorella has a huge amount of potassium and a huge amount of magnesium and calcium, so that drives off radioactive cesium. That one food — chlorella — can do a number of things. That's why we want to go right to it.

Okay, let's keep going. This is interesting. Cesium-137 will show up in grass, and animals like cows actually will try not to eat it. They know. They figured out from Chernobyl that cows can actually tell the difference between radioactive grass and nonradioactive grass. I hope we have the same power, but I doubt that we do. So you are going to be at the health food store, and you are going to be shopping for wheatgrass, or kale, or whatever produce, and you are not going to be able to tell if it's radioactive or not. You are going to have to turn on your intuition. I mean, we probably can tell; if you get a strong intuition going off like, "Danger, Will Robinson!" then you probably should go, "Nope."

Geiger counters are interesting. They can detect alpha radiation, beta radiation and gamma radiation, but cannot detect neutron release. A device that can detect neutron release is about $10,000. I would really recommend at this point that everybody get a Geiger counter. They are about $300. Just to check. Use a Geiger counter to check in your kitchen, because if you've got a granite table I bet you that you are going to see some readings that are going to shock you. I've seen that.

Here's where the nuclear power plants are in America. There are a hundred of them. You can see there are two near us here in Southern California, and there are two in Central California, Diablo Canyon being the seven-and-a-half-billion-dollar mess that it is. And you can see there are way more on the east coast of the U.S. If any one of them goes like Fukushima, it could cause a massive major problem. In fact, it could cause such a catastrophe, such chaos that it could lead to the breakdown of the whole United States. That's how big it is. In Japan, they are culturally united, but you know how Americans are. People could start pulling out guns and just go completely crazy immediately.

The odds of winning the California lottery are one in 175,711,536. That's pretty low odds. Odds of winning the California Super Lotto Jackpot are one in 18 million. Check this out. Indian Point [Nuclear Generating Unit] 3, which is on the Hudson River: the chance of it melting down every year is one in 10,000. That means in 10,000 years it will melt down. That's what that means, just to clarify that. Pilgrim 1 in Plymouth, Massachusetts: one in 14,493. That means that in 14,493 years, one year between now and then it's going to melt down. Unless it's shut down. And then Limerick 1 and 2 in Pennsylvania: one in 18,868. That's a very, very high level of danger. The one in Buchanan, New York is particularly dangerous, because it is very close to New York City. If that was to melt down, and all that radioactive debris — like what is in Fukushima — was to come down the Hudson River, it's over. That's the end.

Xenon-133 has been detected over the entire Northern Hemisphere of the whole world now from Fukushima. The entire Northern Hemisphere, including the North Pole, the Arctic; everything is contaminated with xenon-133 just from that leak going on right now in Fukushima. And if you get the maps out on the internet you can see how widespread this is.

This is something that comes up a lot. People come up to me and they ask me, "Okay, what water filter do I get? What do I do? I've got to deal with my water." I can tell you right now that there is no water filter out there — no Kangen water machine, no water filtration device, no reverse osmosis — that is going to get out the radioactive deuterium and tritium that is in the water near Fukushima right now.

It's amazing what is going on on the internet. I am communicating with a guy who is in Japan, who lives in that prefecture. He can't drink the water coming out of the pipe, and he can't get any water. They are telling him to take all his clothes off when he comes into the house and leave them outside. That's what they telling these people. I don't know if you know that. Because if you get any of that radioactive dust on you, you bring it into your house. Now, you might be wondering, "Well, your clothes don't cover everything, do they? Like what about radioactive dust in your hair? What about radioactive dust on your skin?" That's right. It gets everywhere. If you are flying out of Japan right now, what you have to do is actually leave all your clothes there. You don't come with any clothes. You've got to go nude. You'll go right through security. [laughter]

Deuterium is heavy water, or heavy hydrogen. Do you guys know about this? There is regular hydrogen, which is what is in most of our water. A very, very small fraction of it is heavy hydrogen. Research on longevity from Russia is indicating that the more deuterium you have in your body, the older you are. There is a direct association between the accumulation of deuterium and aging. The Russians found that you can get the heavy water out of your system by alternative days of dry fasting. You fast on water; fast on nothing; fast on water; fast on nothing. You obviously should not do that until you are very healthy and you are very hydrated. That has been found to be the only way to get the heavy deuterium out of your system.

But deuterium isn't the only one. There is also tritium. Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years. There is massive tritium contamination around Fukushima right now. It's the dominant contaminant, actually. We hear a lot about radioactive iodine, of course, which has been vaporized and floating around the atmosphere; but all that seawater that they have been dumping on those reactors, all of the coolant water is absolutely loaded to the hilt right now with tritium. And tritium will infect all the waters all around Japan. It will circle around the whole globe. It will affect all of the ocean water around the whole planet, and there is no way around it. Eventually it will degrade and will decay through the half-life of 12.3 years and start to come down. All municipal water districts in America are contaminated with deuterium right now — in America. And there is no way to filter it out.

This is one of the reasons why I went to spring water, because high mountain spring water by its nature has no tritium or deuterium in it. That's its nature. Now, if a nuclear power plant melted next door to the mountain where the spring water is coming out of, you are going to

Page 9: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

Thyroid in Balance by David Wolfe April 2011

Copyright© 2011 David Wolfe and New Horizon Health, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Page 9

have it. But spring water, as it rises, naturally drops heavy deuterium and heavy tritium. That is why the water is able to rise — because it's light.

Okay, let's keep going. Tritium is also spilling out of landfills. It's a leachate of landfills, and this is the reason why it's in our water supply. It's in our municipal water supply and they don't know how to get rid of it. You actually need centrifuge technology in order to get the radioactive deuterium and tritium out of the water; and when you have centrifuge technology then you are building a nuclear bomb. You know how they went to check in Iran if they were building a nuclear bomb? You remember that? They were looking for centrifuge technology.

The radioactive debris — the iodine, the cesium, the strontium, the tritium — is not really the toxic thing; what is toxic is when it decays. That is what is toxic. The radioactive element is unstable, so it is going to have to lose some energy in order to become stable. That energy loss is going to show up as an alpha particle which is essentially ionized helium; or it's going to show up as electricity, which is a beta particle; or it is going to show up as gamma radiation. And gamma radiation is very, very toxic. That is one of the reasons why we have an atmosphere — it blocks the gamma radiation from coming in and frying us.

And there is also neutron release. So when the particle decays, it can actually hit another particle of a neutron, making that radioactive and unstable, and then that will dump another particle off into something else — it's a chain reaction.

When you have radioactive plutonium in your body, you have so much radioactive decay occurring that it causes a runaway — listen closely — oxidation reaction. It's a runaway oxidation reaction. What happens is you actually start to get fried. You get burned up by the whole process. That's a radiation burn. And it can continue. We know from Hiroshima and Nagasaki that all the people who survived that initial blast did not necessarily survive the forthcoming years — because it stays with you and it can continue to radiate in your body.

Now we have to get into what to do about it, because with a problem is — always — a solution. There are technologies that exist now that can deactivate radioactive plutonium, like Brown's Gas. Yul Brown was an immigrant from Europe who actually lived in Los Angeles. Brown's Gas is two parts of hydrogen gas, one part oxygen gas, shot at each other at a specific angle — at the angle of water, 104° — and then ignited into a flame. Then you can put radioactive debris in there to deactivate it. It will actually remove the radiation. Those technologies do exist right now. Those technologies are denied by "the man" or Big Brother — or whatever you want to call it.

By the way, we do not work for Big Brother anymore, do we? We are working for the Mother. If you are at home right now watching in the audience right now thinking, "I've got to get out of this job that I am in," it is important that you do that. It really is. If you feel like you are working

Page 10: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

Thyroid in Balance by David Wolfe April 2011

for Big Brother, you've got to start working for the Mother — or you've got to do everything you can, like a Trojan horse, if you know what I mean. While you are on the other side of the fence, help us out.

Number one thing here — iodine and kelp. The dosage of iodine is 13 to 15 mg a day, which is 100 times the U.S. RDA of iodine. The U.S. RDA of iodine is so absurdly low that it must actually be purposeful. It must be purposeful, because there is no evidence that that low of an intake of iodine could actually be a daily recommendation. It is so absurdly low that the only reason it's there is that if you go lower than that, you might actually get sick. But at that level, you are probably getting sick anyway. When you get to that level — 13 to 15 mg (100 times that RDA level) — you can actually saturate your thyroid with iodine and start driving off the radioactive iodine-131.

Also, you start to develop lipids — lactones they are called — that are loaded with iodine that go around your body and do a cleanup job, working with your immune system. And that's why it has got to be at that level. I reference Dr. David Brownstein's book, Iodine, which is an excellent resource for how iodine works.

Kelp is an excellent source of iodine. It's the best of all seaweeds. Even when we are taking an iodine supplement, it is good to also have some substances like kelp that have all the co-factors that go with the iodine. If you are taking megadoses of iodine — let's say you were taking potassium iodide pills — those are so strong. They will saturate your body with iodine, but three months down the road they are actually going to be toxic. They don't have all the co-factors.

It's what we learned with vitamin C. If you just take ascorbic acid, you are missing copper; you are missing rutin; you are missing bioflavonoids. So the vitamin C actually starts to rob those from your body. When you take vitamin C from lemon, from camu berry, you get all the co-factors. Does that make sense to everybody? You need the co-factors. That is what we learned from the days of Linus Pauling and his vitamin C ascorbic drive — which was great. We have learned that actually you need all the co-factors, too. That's why I like to have my lypo-spheric vitamin C — and I'll have camu camu berry as well. That is why, beyond iodine, we have got to have kelp. Does that make sense?

Sea salt. If you are going to do iodized salt and believe that you can take enough to protect yourself from radiation, you know what the number is? You actually have to have about two kilos of salt per day to get enough iodine to drive the radiation off. Sea salt is very important. There are whole books out now on the healing power of sea salt. When you begin on a cleansing diet and a cleansing routine — which I don't recommend right now during radiation fallout — you've got to get your salt down so the potassium comes in.

Page 11: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

All the raw foods come in, and the potassium will counterbalance or antagonize all of the salt that we have accumulated as a preservative in the all the food we have eaten over the years. That's detoxification. That can go on for a month or three months or a year or two years; then, when you come out the other side of that, you’ll actually need salt. And that is why there is confusion about this in the health food field. If you go too long with no salt, then you start getting into that concentration camp victim appearance, and that's not good.

Vitamin C. Lypo-spheric C, natural, in the dosages that you require. By “unnatural” I am talking about the Linus Pauling ascorbic acid — which is great and has very specific medicinal effects. We love it, it's wonderful, very important, but that's the kind of dosage that we should all be on right now in a situation of radioactive fallout.

People say, "Come on. This is alarmist. Are you kidding?" Actually, it is not at all. Better safe than sorry. Can this hurt? No, it improves your health. I've got people emailing me now saying, "Look. I don't know what's wrong, but I feel like I got radiation poisoning. Something's going on. Something's wrong." It could be chemtrail poisoning. It could be something else. But there is radioactive debris in the atmosphere now, and it's going to start showing up.

Zeolites. We've got Healthforce Nutritionals here, and they have got amazing encapsulated and powdered zeolite products. I would recommend at least 10-15 of those a day. That's a very powerful detoxifier. When you are doing all of this, you have got to increase your water intake. Nature's solution to pollution is dilution. When you are doing all of this, take more water — twice as much water is recommended.

Fulvic acid. Two to four droppers full — the whole dropper-full — in your water is a good way to do it. Gun it down. Dropper-full — not drop. Two to four of those, per day.

Ginseng. Well-studied, well-known for getting radiation out of the system. Ginseng is known to be a chemotherapy-protective agent. All the research that has been done on chemotherapy

and ginseng is now indicating that if you are contaminated with radioactive debris — like you are when you take chemotherapy — ginseng can help modulate it and move it through. Again, I took a month's worth of ginseng in one night flying over Fukushima. The dosages are all over the board because there are so many different products. I would recommend that if you get the tincture products, like what Jing Herbs has, do a whole dropper-full — maybe four or five of those a day. I've been doing it. It's been good. It's been powerful.

You have got to look at ones that you like. I like what Jing Herbs has. I travel around with that particular ginseng. Generally, the reason you take American ginseng is if you run too hot — like me. I'm like fire. The American ginseng is cooling. Let's say you run too

cold. You are always cool; you are always damp. Then you would take the Asian ginsengs which are a little hotter and drier.

Chaga mushroom. Let's give it up for chaga mushroom! Three to eight strong teas a day, or two tablespoons of chaga mycelium per day. That means chaga tea all day. We know this from the research that came out of Russia on chemotherapy. Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the great Nobel Prize Laureate who wrote a book called The Cancer Ward based on his own experience of healing himself of cancer with chaga mushroom and chemotherapy. It was those two together, by the way. And I would recommend reading that book. I am going to do a whole presentation on that on Sunday.

Chlorella. We have talked about that, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, 5,000-10,000 mg.

Coconut butter. Because of its thyroid-stimulating properties — two to four tablespoons a day. And when I say coconut butter I'm talking about the cream, like the cream-cheesy stuff. It's so good. You really should only have two to four tablespoons a day, even though you are going to want to have 16. You remember when cream cheese went out of the picture? That went out for me 25 years ago. And then all of a sudden, the coconut butter, the cream, was created.

MegaHydrate. Drives off the intake of radioactive tritium. MegaHydrate is, essentially, ormus hydrogen. It drives off radioactive tritium.

Crystal Energy is another zeolite product. It squelches and neutralizes radiation. You know what was sprayed on Chernobyl? Zeolite and boron. That's what was sprayed. That's still sitting there on Chernobyl right now. It kills the neutrons; it holds the neutrons.

Astragalus and ashwagandha are two very strong herbs that are in the mix. Astragalus is super Qi-building and beneficial to the lung meridian, so it helps your body drive off crap that lands in your lungs. Radioactive cesium, radioactive iodine-131, and radioactive tritium can be volatized and vaporized into the atmosphere. Xenon-133 even though it's not that dangerous, is a radioactive mineral, and actually can be breathed in; so we want to always strengthen that lung meridian. Ashwagandha comes in so many different forms — take one to two tablespoons of the extract powder.

Black Mica Extract. Always add one to two teaspoons per gallon of water. There is going to be a little bit of precipitate that forms at the bottom. Discard that; drink the rest of the water. That's another amazing neutralizer of radioactive debris.

Aloe vera and noni powder. Antioxidant power. Aloe vera — you want a whole filleted leaf of aloe. Noni — two to three tablespoons a day of the powder.

Asparagus root. Known to help us heal from gamma radiation exposure. Asparagus stalks are also very valuable; 10-15 a day. That's hard to do. I've got news for you. That's hard to do, but that is the general recommended dosage for this kind of a situation.

Selenium. Four to six Brazil nuts per day.

And then the last one on the list here, boron. Compton Rom of Ascended Health is here. He put out a really informative blast-out on the internet about this, to use 4 to 10 mg of boron per day because it neutralizes the neutron release of radioactive debris. If you are going to be in Asia any time over the next 30 years, it’s a good idea to know about this stuff. If you are going to be hanging out with somebody who just showed up from Japan, it’s a good idea to know about this stuff.

I met guys who went to Iraq. You know they are using depleted uranium — D.U. — duh. Duh! Winning. You caught that, didn't you? Duh — D.U. — depleted uranium. That is a very toxic substance they used in the Iraq war. They have been using it in Afghanistan. They used it in the war in the Balkans. They actually got checked with a Geiger counter — they got so much radioactive dust on them they had to leave all their clothes there. That's how big a problem this stuff is. We have got to get rid of D.U., depleted uranium; we have got to get rid of radioactive debris from these nuclear power plants; we have got to shut all these power plants down and then deactivate all nuclear warheads. "If it's gonna be, it's up to —?"

Audience member: Me.

Audience member: Us.

DW: Let's jump into the thyroid. This is such a big issue today, and this is going to be the biggest fallout of the fallout. If our thyroid is working well, our metabolism is proper, we are generating body heat, we are breaking down foods, we are burning calories — meaning we are able to stay thin — we are finely tuning and regulating all those different functions of our body. Basically, all the hormones in our body are dialed in. The estrogen is in the right place, progesterone and testosterone are in the right place, and DHEA is properly doing its job of protecting our nervous system.

If we are in trouble with our thyroid, here are the symptoms: excessive high blood sugar or low blood sugar — blood sugar swings. Liver toxicity. Hormone imbalances. Usually estrogen dominance. When somebody has hypothyroidism, estrogen dominance is almost always found at the same time. We are going to have excess cortisol. Another big one: inflammation. Another big one: hair loss. Premature hair loss is a symptom of thyroid disorder.

Here is the overall picture of the body and how all these things normally work together. This is our overall T4-, T3-generating mechanism. Our hypothalamus, which is the master gland of our brain, is regulating everything. Maca, by the way, works on your hypothalamus. Anybody ever taken maca and had an aphrodisiac reaction? Hands were like: up.

Audience member: I didn't know it was maca.

DW: You didn't know it was maca. Were you tricked? Do you have a smart partner? Maca works on the hypothalamus. It does not work directly on the sexual glands; it does not work directly on the pituitary. It works on the hypothalamus, which is the master gland. Let's say you stimulate your hypothalamus with maca. It is going to produce thyroid-releasing hormone, which is TRH, to regulate the pituitary's production of thyroid-stimulating hormone. The hypothalamus will then give a message to the pituitary to produce thyroid-stimulating hormone. Okay? If the levels are low of T3 and T4, the thyroid-stimulating hormone will enter into your blood and tell the thyroid to bring up T3 and T4.

Thyroid-3 (T3) means three iodines and thyroid-4 (T4) means four iodines. It will use those to regulate metabolism and try to get about a 60 to 80% production of T3. T4 is essentially unusable; T3 is what you want. You guys all know about that? And then what is left over with be recycled through the digestive tract and through the liver and hopefully show back up as T3.

That can happen. If you are healthy, T3 will actually be recycled back out again and will be useful for you.

The adrenals will produce DHEA to regulate that whole process. If we don't have DHEA, we are going to be in trouble. Down in our sex glands, we are going to be producing progesterone and/or testosterone and/or DHEA. The sex hormones are actually the health hormones. We found that out. Dr. Yu is going to talk to us about that. The more progesterone that you have, the healthier you are — and the healthier your thyroid is. Once somebody's progesterone goes up, guess what happens to their thyroid medication? It goes down. We are finding out that progesterone in a woman and testosterone in a man is a very strong controller of what is going on with the thyroid. If the progesterone is down and estrogen

is up, I bet you in 9 cases out of 10 we are going to see thyroid troubles. That's what the research is indicating. We will see that we are not producing enough thyroid-stimulating-hormone; we are going to see that T3 and T4 aren't being converted properly — meaning that T4 is not being pushed over into T3.

We might also see this even if we are healthy and we take tons of iodine — let's say we are worried about radioactive fallout, and we are taking tons of iodine. Our thyroid-stimulating hormone could go up — which is usually a bad sign; but it is actually a good sign if you are taking more iodine. I want to point that out so that you don't get tricked. Because if you greatly increase iodine intake and get your thyroid tested, and all of a sudden they are telling you, "Your thyroid-stimulating hormone is really, really high," it is because you have been taking more iodine. That will happen for about six months, and then everything will regulate. Okay? Normally, if your thyroid-stimulating hormone is super-super-high or super-super-low, then it's a problem; something is out of balance.

There is the inner brain. You can see the hypothalamus in there, which is where the action is. It's at the very, very core of your brain, which indicates it's the most primary of your metabolic-directing glands. When the thyroid hormones are created they are actually attached to thyroid-binding globulin which takes the T3 and T4 around your body.

Some of the tests that are out there are actually testing thyroid-binding globulin, not T3 and T4. That is very important to know, meaning you could have a false positive. Instead of testing for T3 and T4, they are actually testing for the presence of thyroid-binding globulin. That is one of the reasons you have to get the best testing and the most complete testing that is available. If you go to a doctor and they do one test — they are testing for T3, T4 — it may be a mistake, because they are really getting the TBG score. And all of a sudden they are putting you on a drug. That's the time to say, "Nope. I'm going to get a second opinion." Aren't you? "I want a second opinion." Should you get a second opinion? Should you get a third opinion? Definitely. Because once you get on the thyroid medication, it's tough to get off.

Let's talk about the thyroid-stimulating hormones being blocked in autoimmune conditions. Thyroid-stimulating hormone tells the thyroid, "Hey, produce more T3, T4," — but it's blocked in the autoimmune condition. What do we do about that? What did we learn about autoimmune conditions just a few moments ago?

Audience member: Grounding.

DW: Grounding. So let's talk about this for a second. The thyroid is your most negatively charged pole in your body, meaning it's the most like the surface of the Earth. It's got a charge, a volatile charge on it. If we have thyroid trouble, then it means that the charge on our thyroid, the electricity of our thyroid is down. The thyroid is heavily vascularized, and therefore it attracts to itself positively charged ions, like oil particles, particles of pesticides, heavy metals,

Page 16: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

Thyroid in Balance by David Wolfe April 2011

chemicals of all kinds and radioactive debris — right to the thyroid. All that will then be neutralized by the thyroid itself in an attempt to bring the radiation down — the positive charge — with the negative charge that the thyroid has. The thyroid needs the negative charge to neutralize all that garbage. Eventually the thyroid goes, "Got a shoe on! I'm choking. Help!"

Clint Ober told me that research on grounding is indicating that if you are grounded more than 12 hours a day, your thyroid medication can be cut in half, just like that. It's electrical in nature. I would recommend, if you can, to get the charge right in there. I have this pink one that goes right here. And then I get this thing and it goes right there. That's kind of fun when you are working on your computer, and you are typing away, and the energy is going right into your thyroid. Is that a good idea when you are on your computer? No one is looking anyway. You're at home. That's what I do. It's kind of interesting, kind of fun.

So we want to get that particular TSH receptor opened up, and I believe that what is actually going on there is an electrical problem. The TSH is being blocked, so the thyroid can't get this

message from the pituitary to produce T3 and T4 — because there is an electrical disorder. It's all about charge.

When you really start understanding this whole thing about zapping and the Earth and all that, you start wondering things like, "Why doesn't the Earth's electricity kill friendly bacteria in your body? Why does it only kill unfriendly bacteria?" It’s because of the charge. The unfriendly stuff — the cancer

cells, the parasites, the creepy crawlies, the wiggly wormies, the viruses, the fungi, the yeast, the molds that break us down — actually have a different charge than our healthy tissue and the healthy bacteria that live with us.

Number one. If you are going to get tested — very, very important — due to the thyroid-binding globulin problem, you have got to have a reputable lab that does your testing for you. Two, test your TSH. Find out where your thyroid-stimulating hormone is. That is going to tell you what is happening with your pituitary. It's going to tell you if your T3 and T4 are good, but your TSH is perhaps way elevated or way low; it's going to give you a little bit more information about what is happening.

If your TSH is very, very high and you have been taking tons of iodine, that’s perfectly fine. If you haven't, there may be a problem. You might have a little bit of an electrical malfunction happening. The TSH is bouncing. Test your T4. Test your T3 uptake — what you are actually up-

Page 17: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

taking. These are all things you want to talk to your doctor about. It's good to have the testing. We love testing in the West, don't we? We just don't like the treatment. We like the testing, but the treatment is what sucks.

So why do we like that? Because we like to visualize, don't we? We like to know. I want to know where that tumor is, I want to know how big it is, I want know exactly how thick it is. I want to know everything about it. But I don't want the other stuff you are going to give me beyond that. When you can visualize, you have more power, you've got more control.

Test your reverse T3. That is the T3 that is not being absorbed, that is being dumped off. That can be as much as 20 to 40 percent in many cases. Through friendly, healthy, probiotic bacteria, we can get that back in. That's how healthy bacteria fit into all this. If we have a lot of healthy bacteria, if we have been doing what Donna Gates says — eating cultured food every day — we can actually take some of the reverse T3 that was dumped off, get it back in and make it useful.

Then we have got the thyroid-binding globulin. That's the protein that carries the thyroid hormone around the body. You want to know where that is as well. That is going to tell you how well your blood is transporting the T3 and the T4. With all of that data, you can start to get a picture of what your body is actually doing. Is everybody's body the same?

Audience members: No.

DW: Should everybody be eating the same kind of diet?

Audience members: No.

DW: Should everybody eat the same food?

Audience members: No.

DW: Is one person's poison another person's panacea?

Audience members: Yes.

DW: One more quick thing about this estrogen business. There are three estrogens in here that I want to talk about. Let's talk about this, because there is a relationship between low thyroid and estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance means you have too much estrone and too much estradiol — E1 and E2.

Estrogen dominance: if you are 50 or 60 and you have got elevated estradiol, like you do when you are 13 years old, that's not a good thing. That is going to signal breast cancer to start forming. We want to bring these two bad estrogens down, break them down. In fact we want to convert them to estriol — or we want to break them down completely and get rid of them. The supplement that does that — one of my favorites, and definitely in the mix, by the way, for your thyroid program — is indole-3-carbinol. Do you guys know about indole-3-carbinol?

Page 18: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

We are going to go quickly through that list of foods, herbs, vitamins, minerals and exercise. We have, of course, iodine. I told you salt is not going to be enough. B-complex, fulvic acid, selenium — selenium is an assistant of the thyroid — vitamin D3 — another assistant — zeolites to draw out all the toxic debris of our heavily vascularized thyroid, and then zinc.

MegaHydrate. Omega-3, DHA/EPA and lypo-spheric vitamin C are all big players in the game as well. They are big in the game, and they are modulating our blood chemistry, and modulating the amount of electricity that our body has. If we are in a situation where our electricity is low, MegaHydrate brings our electricity back up high. That's how it works. If our electricity is low, DHA/EPA brings our electricity back up high.

Do you want to know how high? Listen to this story. I was in Amsterdam and I went out to a lab. A friend of mine was there who has been working with DHA/EPA — second generation. His father was the first person to actually isolate EPA. I'm not talking about the Environmental Protection Agency. I'm talking about the EPA that is in fish oil, that is in krill oil, that is in certain algae oils, that's in marine phytoplankton. Those substances, DHA/EPA, are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, and they are the most essential omega-3 fatty acids.

His father was the first person to strip the antioxidants off of EPA and DHA, and here is what occurred: an explosion, and his lab burnt to the ground. Those substances are so electrical, they are so energy-rich, that if you are actually able to isolate them, they will explode on contact with the air.

Dr. Dave Woynarowski is going to be here this weekend and he is going to tell us all about TA-65. He is going to tell us about DHA. He is going to give us an insight into his research on fish oil. He is probably the leading fish oil expert in the world. And one of the things he is going to tell us is it's likely that DHA is a telomerase activator — meaning that DHA is one of those things that the more of it you take, the younger you get. That's a good sign.

The Quinton sea plasma. I do believe that Quinton sea plasma is in the building. This is the first event in this country that Quinton has been available to you. The first event. Quinton sea plasma is one of the greatest health products in the world, with a super-high charge of electricity and minerals.

Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 can be a methylator. It breaks down the bad homocysteine.

Probiotics. We talked about that. Let's keep going.

Ashwagandha and astragalus again make their appearance here for the thyroid. Ashwagandha is now known to have nerve growth factors in it. That is the latest research, as of a month ago. That was just published. What is nerve growth factor? Alzheimer's. Parkinson's. Ashwagandha now comes in for that. Astragalus. We are going to be hearing so much about astragalus, it's

Page 19: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

Thyroid in Balance by David Wolfe April 2011

Copyright© 2011 David Wolfe and New Horizon Health, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Page 19

not even funny. I'm good at growing these things. I've been growing astragalus and ashwagandha. And when you pull up the ashwagandha, it looks like a man. It's like ginseng.

Holy basil. Got into growing that. Holy basil is a super-adaptogen, thyroid-specific superherb. Holy basil. There are some amazing holy basil products out there on the market today. This is probably the number one ranked herb in Ayurveda. It's either shilajit or holy basil. In Ayurveda they say, "If you don't have a holy basil plant in front of your house, you don't have a house."

Brazil nuts. Talked about that, four to six a day. That's the selenium. Keep everything functioning properly. Coconut. We talked about that. Salt. That was mentioned, of course.

Sauerkraut. Cultured food has the heavy bacteria, so you recycle that T3 back in and get more use out of it. It takes a lot of energy, a lot of metabolic cascades in order to produce the T3. You don't want to waste it. You don't want it to dump into the liver and have your body go, "We don't know what to do with this," and then just dump it in the intestines to get rid of it.

Sea vegetables. Kelp is great. Other ones that are wonderful: bladderwrack and nori. Those are the top ones for thyroid by the way. Dulse is great. I love dulse. Who here does not love dulse? But it doesn't really have that effect on the thyroid like kelp, bladderwrack and nori.

We are going to close on this. This is interesting. A good friend of mine who is here this weekend is Damien Lichtenstein. He just recently produced an amazing film called Discover the Gift. I'm very excited about him being here. He is an amazing guy. I was over at his house the other day, and he said, "I think I've got an angle on this whole thing that is happening in Japan that you might not know about."

I said, "What's going on?" He said, "You know, Japan has violated every accord worldwide against the killing of whales and dolphins." If you have seen the movie The Cove, you know what is going on with all this. It's been a noxious abuse of the worldwide ban on the hunting of whales. Now, if you are an Inuit and you are living Alaska or Greenland or something, and you lived on whale blubber and seal blubber your whole existence, it’s different in that situation. Right? But when it's inappropriate; when the funds are being misappropriated and the consistent violation of the UN Accords continue — well, then there might be a little bit of a backlash from the spirit of the ocean, if you know what I mean. Because this whole thing has been caused by a tsunami. So I just wanted us all to take note of that.

Of course, there are many, many tens of thousands of people, even millions of people that are not

Page 20: David Wolfe - Optimal Thyroid Health

responsible for any this that are being affected by all this — like we are being affected by choices that our government is making. Of course. We all probably should take a moment and just hold the vision that one day we are going to stop this whaling, we are going to stop the dolphin killing and we are going to stop this nuclear power business. [applause]

So if we can maybe hold a moment of silence for all the victims of these abuses — the Chernobyl victims, the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the whales that have been slaughtered, the dolphins that have been slaughtered, the people right now in Fukushima who are suffering, the workers at Fukushima who are dealing with this mess. Let's a hold a vigil for them for about 30 seconds in silence. And send a prayer out from this room all together to them. Okay. So let's do that.
