What has HIV-NAT contributed?
• Several thousands of lives have been saved with the clinical trial drugs from 1996 to 2006 when universal health coverage (UHC) of ART started in Thailand
• Hundreds of scientific publications leading to new knowledge and change in treatment guidelines
• Catalyst for UHC of ART in Thailand
• Asia’s largest HIV training course, the Bangkok International Symposium on HIV Medicine since January 1998 for 21 consecutive years up to now
• The foundation of TREATAsia, the regional network of HIV researchers of which David is the co-founder

You may not have contributed to the words in the draft, but you contributed enormously to David's love and devotion for HIV-NAT, HIV research in Asia, and treatment access for all people living with HIV.
Some of my fondest memories of David were seeing him at HIV-NAT retreats, totally relaxed, having a few drinks, and even the odd bonding cigarette with him away from the constraints of Sydney life.

As you know from Tony, I have been very sick over the Xmas break in intensive care with gram negative sepsisI am now at home recovering slowly.I am sorry I cant make the BKK symposium this year and really appreciate you doing the JL and JvToration.
We are so excited the University approved the honorary doctorate for you.
You deserve this honour so much.
Once I get back to work after taking a couple of months off we will start planning the award and when you should come to Sydney in 2018.
My best wishes for a successful BKK symposium and a happy and healthy 2018
