La Galleria Antonio Battaglia inaugura una nuova mostra personale dell'americano David Bowes (Boston, 1957), un importante ritorno a Milano, dopo la sua ultima mostra del 1994 alla Galleria Gian Ferrari Arte Contemporanea.

Saranno presentati in mostra un nuovo ciclo di dipinti dal titolo “The Pleasant Land”, opere inedite dai colori accesi e dalle pennellate vibranti, medie e grandi dimensioni che l'artista ha realizzato in Italia, dove si è da poco stabilito.

Il linguaggio pittorico di Bowes è gioioso, visionario, lirico e libero da vincoli. Storie e pensieri interiori dell'artista combinati con la vita di ogni giorno vengono tradotti nelle sue opere da soggetti comuni quali ritratti, nature morte e paesaggi che sembrano più emblematici che allegorici.

David Bowes è nato a Boston nel 1957, vive e lavora a Torino. Le sue opere sono presenti in importanti collezioni internazionali: Maramotti Collection, Terrae Motus (Caserta), Walker Art Center, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Broad Contemporary Art Museum at LACMA.Tra le sue ultime mostre personali: “Living on Earth”, 2009/2010, Studio d'Arte Raffaelli Trento - Galleria in Arco, Torino; “Palermo ispanica”, 2008, Palazzo Sant'Elia, Palermo.
