WORLD-RENOWNED ATHLETE.Ran up the East Coast in 1980.Eight-time competitor in the Ironman Triathlon World Championship (personal best of 14th overall).Marathon personal best of 2:29:58.Completed a 24-hour run, bike, and swim individually of 120, 385, and 27 miles respectively.128 completed marathons, including for the past 41 consecutive years, the Boston Marathon, with the last 26 being run at night following the completion of his duties as Race Director.

PHILANTHROPOST.In 1978, ran 3,452 miles across the United States for the Jimmy Fund, completing it in 80 days, while averaging 45 miles a day..In 2004, ran a cross country relay from San Francisco to Boston with nine other veteran marathoners as part of TREK USA, raising over $300,000 for five children’s charities

.Created the DMSE Children’s Fitness Foundation, a non-profit aimed at paving a road to a healthier future by funding nonprofit organizations that use running as a vehicle to promote physical fitness in children.Has raised millions and millions of dollars through personal efforts and events managed by DMSE, Inc.

ENTREPENEUROwner and President of Dave McGillivray Sports Enterprises, Inc. For over 25 years, “DMSE” has produced or consulted on almost 1,000 mass-participatory athletic events nationally and internationally.

PERSONALSince the age of 12, has run his age in miles on his birthday each year. In 2008, he ran 54 miles finished in Fenway Park, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his run across America, while raising $35,000 for the Jimmy Fund.
