PHYSICS
1. Identify the device used (a spherical mirror or lens) in following cases, when the image formed is virtual Glass
and erect in each case.
(a) Object is placed between device and its focus, image formed is enlarged and behind it.
(b) Object is placed between the focus and device, image formed is enlarged and on the same side as that of
the object.
(c) Object is placed between infinity and device, image formed is diminished and between focus and optical
centre on the same side as that of the object.
(d) Object is placed between infinity and device, image formed is diminished and between pole and focus,
behind it.
2. The image of a candle flame placed at a distance of 30 cm from a mirror is formed on a screen placed in front of the
mirror at a distance of 60 cm from its pole. What is the nature of the mirror? Find its focal length. If the height of the
flame is 2.4 cm, find the height of its image. State whether the image formed is erect or inverted.
3. Find the size, nature and position of image formed when an object of size 1 cm is placed at a distance of 15 cm from
a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm.
4. An object 2 cm high is placed at a distance of 16 cm from a concave mirror which produces a real image 3 cm high.
(i) Find the position of the image
(ii) What is the focal length of mirror?
5. The absolute refractive indices of glass and water are 3/2 and 4/3 respectively. If the speed of light in glass is 2 ×
108 m/s, calculate the speed of light in (i) vacuum, (ii) water.
6. An object of size 7.0 cm is placed at 27 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length 18 cm. At what distance from
the mirror should a screen be placed, so that a sharp focused image can be obtained? Find the size and the nature of the
image.
7. Assertion-Reason Type Questions (Q.N. 1 to 4)
In each of the following questions, a statement of Assertion is given by the corresponding statement of Reason. Of the
statements, mark the correct answer as
(a) If both A and R are true, and R is correct explanation of the assertion.
(b)If both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of the assertion.
(c) A is true, but R is false.
(d)A is false, but R is true.
1. Assertion:- The mirror used in search lights are concave spherical.
Reason:- In concave spherical mirror the image formed is always virtual.
2. Assertion:- The height of an object is always considered positive.
Reason:- An object is always placed above the principal axis in this upward direction.
3. Assertion:- For observing traffic at back the driver mirror is convex mirror.
Reason:- A convex mirror has much larger field of view than a plane mirror.
4. Assertion:- Refractive index has no units.
Reason:- The refractive index is a ratio of two similar quantities.
Prepare a PPT:- REFLECTION.
Art Integration:- (SCIENCE PROJECT)
Study of acidic and basic nature of the day to day life substances, the chemical substances involved in sustaining
human life process and their interaction with electric current.
Activities:-To Study Refraction of Light in Rectangular Glass Slab
CHEMISTRY
(Note:-Do this holiday home work in home work note book.
1 Why is it necessary to balance a chemical equation?
2 In the equations given below, state giving reasons, whether substances have been oxidised or reduced.
(i) PbO + CO –> Pb + CO2
(ii) (ii) H2S + Cl2–>2HCl + S.
3 A sample of water weed was placed in water and exposed to sunlight. Bubbles of a gas are seen
on the surface of the leaves.
(i) Name the gas evolved.
(ii) Name the process taking place.
(iii) Write a balanced equation of reaction taking place.
4)What are the characteristics of chemical reactions?
5) Crossword Down:
1. Phenomenon in which iron vessels get damaged on adding copper sulphate solution (12)
3. Phenomenon in which food material starts to smell badly on keeping (9)
Across:
2. A reaction between acids and bases (14)
4. A reaction in which one of the products becomes insoluble (13)
6) Activity:- (Chemical Reactions Project)
Milk Painting
Instruction:-
Materials Required-
Cow’s Milk Dish soap Ear bud Food coloring Shallow plate or wide bowls Big size Paper
Procedure:-
Fill a plate or bowl with milk. Drop in at least 2 drops of each of four colors of food coloring. The more variety of colors the cooler the painting. Generously dip the end of an ear bud in dish soap. Now dip the ear bud into the milk next to a drop of color. The first thing that will happen is the color will burst as soon as the dish soap hits it. It’s a great effect but very
short lived. Once there is a little dishsoap in the milk it no longer “bursts”. Gently swirl the ear bud through the different colors and you’ll see little rivers of color start to form. Put one paper over that , and paint the magic colour.
7) Make one power point presentation on the topic of displacement reaction.
Learning Objectives:
Students will able to:
Practice every concept of chemical reactions. Engage their time for doing project work and activity. Understand science behind the activity

2. Assertion: A country that was extremely rich in natural resources has mainly relied on oil extraction
for revenue generation for several centuries. However, the scientists predict that the country may
become poor in the future if other means of generating income are not devised.
Reason: Oil is a non-renewable resource, and it is likely to get exhausted if not used judiciously. [1]
(a) Both assertion and reason are true, and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.
(b) Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
(c) Assertion is true, but reason is false.
