Revisiting the Past for the Next Gen
PHILIPPINES
“DAUS” (da-os) - is a yearly three (3)
day festival that the Batak Tribes have been
doing. Batak means “mountain people.” They
are a peace loving community. In the past,
during Daus, the Batak’s go to designated
places in the forest, beside a river, construct
a makeshift shelter and live o the produce
of the forest for three days, thanking the
faries, spirits or gods for the good things
they received from nature. Today, since
tribal missionaries came, like Pastor Ricky
Dela Cruz, one of our strategic partners in
Palawan and made a dierence in the Batak
communities, the Batak’s are now thanking
the one true God for the blessings they’ve
received. Reliving the past for the next
generation. During the Daus they worship
God, study His Word and exchange stories
of the goodness of God in their lives. I,
together with Felix and Rahel, have
attended the Daus done by the Batak’s of
Tagnaya community last February. I
personally am so grateful to have attended
their celebration
and Sunday Service. It is a beautiful picture
of what will happen in the future when
Jesus comes, when every tribe and every
tongue confess that Jesus is Lord of all.
May you be encouraged as you read
through what God has been doing in our
communities here in Palawan. Please know
that you are a part of what is happening
here through your prayers and support. One
day, we will see “vibrant communities of
Jesus followers among the least reached.”
God bless you!

ABORLAN: OM Palawan has been helping provide our tribal communities with clean potable water. Recently, we helped Ethnos Tribal Missions Training Center, a missions school for tribal pastors led by Pastor Philip Lim. The school is located in Aborlan, 60 kilometers south of Puerto Princesa. With Pastor Randy Ranoco’s (Missionary
among the Tagbanua Tribes) help we were able to tap into a water
source within the school property. With the upcoming Tribal Youth Camp this April 17-21, in partnership with OM’s Go Extra Mile (G.E.M.) which will be held in the missions school property, water is a commodity we couldn’t neglect. Praise God for His provision water is now free owing in the missions school.
Digging of a well is also undergoing for the Tagbanua community in Yayabu,
Sagpangan, Aborlan. This is where Pastor Randy has planted a church some 6 years ago. They just recently celebrated their 6th year anniversary.
TAGNAYA: Recently, a shing boat was dedicated to the Lord. This shing boat will be used by Pastor Edwin Cayao as a source of income as he pastors the Batak community in Tagnaya. Victor was instrumental in helping nd resources for this project to come to fruition. May God bless the eorts of Pastor Edwin as he seeks to become more sustainable and be able to minister better both to his family and his community.

CEBU: OMPalawan Team was privileged to attend a training together with the whole OMPhilippine Sta and some international OM partners. The training is called PC/24 in which we will be mentored for 24 months how to conduct a project. Practical tools were taught to us for 5 days. It was quite brain frying but at the same time fullling, because we now have enough tools to use with our present ministries and be able to eectively plan our next moves to help in reaching out the greater Palawan for Jesus.

It is two and a half years ago now that we met Uncle/Kuya
Victor Ababa in Germany. We, Rahel and Felix were about
to join OM Philippines in Cebu and took the chance to
talk to somebody who knew more about it. We never
thought that we will extend our two year commitment to
join Uncle/Kuya Victor here in Palawan for the tribal
ministry.
Since January 2015 we are part of OM Philippines in Cebu
and mainly helped out in the Relief and Development
Department. Our job was very practical, building houses
for the Yolanda victims and facilitating prevention
trainings.
The last four months was a time of transition. After we
visited Palawan the rst time last year October to
December, to help out in the ministry, we were praying
about extending. All our plans, ideas, and visions for our
future we had made already were changed by God. He
slowly revealed dierent thoughts and ideas to us and we
came along. So we asked our church back in Germany
and after a long time of prayer they decided to send us
into long term mission.
After we nished our last projects in Cebu, we wrapped
everything up in a very stressful and super short
sequence of time. We packed a big part of our belongings
and left Cebu to move to Puerto Princesa, Palawan on the
6th of April.
Now we are here and try to settle in, we know the place
already, but it is still dierent to know that you will not
go back anymore, only for short visits maybe. We hope to
stay emotionally and physically healthy and to quickly
feel 100% part of our new team and the ministry we do.
One of our highlights happened still in Cebu in March.
We had a training called Project Cycle 24 held by OM for
OMer’s. A training about how to start, plan and manage a
project, the dierent phases of it and how to do it
together with the community where you are at, so that
they are actually owning it. The 24 means it will go for 24
month, so we were given a coach who follows up on us
and coaches us in our progress. This is very exciting;
because now we can apply all the things we learned
together and have somebody who shows us when we
loose track. It is also great to be able to sit together as a
team to see what the Lord has for us and how he
prepared things already.
With greetings full of excitement by stepping into a new
part of life.
Your’s,
Felix & Rahel
