DAU FY17 DAWDF Reduction Impacts
• Cancelled DAWIA Certification Training / Potential Delay in Certification RatesStatutorily required DAU DAWIA Certification training curtailed. During the June – September 2017 time period, DAU may be
forced to cancel 50 to 100 classroom offerings resulting in the loss of between 1,500 – 3,000 classroom students. This may
cause DAWIA certification rates to decline and create an increase in demand for classroom training in FY18. The impact of the
$7.3M DAWDF Student Travel reduction would have been greater but steps were taken to salvage classes and minimize class
cancellations. In addition, Services used their own funding to pay for courses which helped fill the gap.
• Delayed Curriculum UpdatesCurriculum development approved by the DAWIA Career Field Functional Leaders delayed. New and upgraded courses in the
following career fields will be deferred to FY18: Testing, Information Technology, Cyber Security content, Science and
Technology, Business Cost Estimating and Financial Management, Engineering and core Acquisition courses.
• Postponement of Key Courses Key Courses needed for the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) personnel delayed. Several new courses
developed and delivered by the College of Contract Management (CCM) in the areas of Post Award Contract Administration
and Quality Assurance will have to be postponed until FY18.
