oN "Cooperative Olympic" Field Day FUN! The students and teachers put together an awesome display of 'Olympic Spirit'! Field Day

was a terrific expression of fun, friendship, community, and teamwork. The colorful flags, banners, clothing, cheers and excitement set the tone in the 'Opening Ceremony' parade of nations represented. A Special Thank you to Daniel DeLude, 8th Grade graduate who ran the 'torch' to lead the procession. All classes were successful in putting forth their best effort in events that encouraged teamwork and fair play! Thank you to the parent volunteers, and alumni, Alex Huelbig, Daniel DeLude and Ellie Gaunoux. We couldn't have done it without your support throughout the day! The excitement of the full day of activities and games carried over into the presentation of awards and 'medals'... each Country received an Olympic Field Day Certificate. The medal counts were as follows:

Only! Join us as we explore The Wonders of Water - lots of fun activities and learning are on tap! (Water gun canvas art to Virtual Reality Field trips to Victoria Falls to exploring Noah's Ark.) We will also give back to MoN by creating water conservation signage for our school bathrooms. Championships, 3rd Place For Boys Congratulations to MoN’s Track & Field team, which turned in another successful season in 2017 that included three individual championships, over a half-dozen runners-up and a boys team 3rd place trophy. In CYO competition, Spearheaded by Ileana Plummer’s championship in the girls 13-14 400 meters (1:04) and 2nd place finish in the 800 meters (2:39), Noelle Hailu posted 3rd in the 800 meters

(2:51) and 4th in the 400 meters (1:09); Sarah Hailu took 4th in the 9-10 200 meters (33.83); and the trio of Ava Plummer, Mya Plummer and Julia Weyer finished 6th, 7th and 8th in the 9-10 100 meters. Ileana Plummer now holds the record for most individual track & field championships (4) in school history. On the boys side, Juan Abreu flirted with a sub-one-minute 400 meters by turning in a 1:01 performance for 7th place; Robbie Castillo made the finals in the 100 meters (14.92) and 800 meters (3:09), then capped it off with a 64 foot javelin throw; while Philip Williams hit the after-burners in his heat to post a 1:13 in the 400 meters. In the fledgling Columbus League, MoN’s boys team capped off a strong season to finish 3rd place overall among 11 teams. Led by James Owan (2nd javelin, 2nd 1600 meters, 3rd 100 meters, 3rd 800 meters) fellow Mustangs Sorya Chung (2nd javelin), Danny Barrow (2nd, 1600 meters), Ryan Fegley (3rd, javelin) and Gerardo Palacios (3rd 1600 meters) claimed medals, aided by a deep boys team that finished the season with 541 points, behind only Our Lady of Victory (DC) and Our Lady of Mercy (Bethesda). For the girls, Katelyn Patti led a strong showing in the field events by taking both the 7-8 javelin and 7-8 shot put championships, joined by Amilee Williams (3rd, 6U long jump) and Gianna Pietras (3rd, 7-8 shot put). On the track, Maddie Rogers claimed 2nd in the 9-10 400 meters; Natalia Palacios 2nd in the 9-10 1600 meters; Amilee Williams 2nd in the 50 meters; while Angelina Serrano charged to 3rd in the 11-12 100 meters to finish 6th as a team.
