"Sounds of Nature" Piano Performance Thursday, January 3, 2 pm Meredith Chapel Anna Showalter will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op. 28 "Pastorale,” Janáček’s "In the Mists," and Messiaen’s "Little Bird Sketches." Anna studies piano pedagogy and literature at James Madison University where she also teaches class piano. She recently moved to Harrisonburg with her husband Stefan Hess. Previously Anna lived in Durham N.C. where she studied theology at Duke Divinity School worked as a hospital chaplain and taught piano to children.

Once sign-ups open, residents can register between the hours of 8 am- 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Any Independent Resident can sign up for trips and events. It is NOT permitted for individuals to sign up other residents (excluding spouses); each individual resident must call to register.

Trip departures will be from the front lobby of the Eiland Center (EC) or Highlands (HL) for all trips at the time listed in the Funside.

Cancellation Policy: Any cancellation with less than 48 hours’ notice

will result in a charge; particularly for trips/events with nonrefundable tickets. If there is a waiting list and we are able to fill your spot a charge will not be incurred. If there is not a waiting list you may find a substitute and will in turn not be charged for the trip.

When cancellation is necessary, please contact the IL Events Coordinator’s Office (8241) by 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday and no later than 12 noon on Friday.

In the event of sudden illness or emergency, cancellations and charges will be handled on an individual basis.

On-Campus Event Shuttle Sign Up: If shuttle service is being offered for an

on-campus evening or weekend event, residents can sign up for shuttle service by calling 8241 or 8200/8201 no later than the date and time listed in the event’s Funside article.

A minimum of six (6) residents must be signed up for a shuttle for shuttle services to be provided.

Pick up time will depend on the number of residents requesting the shuttle. Residents signed up for shuttle service will be notified of the approximate time of pick up.

Shuttles for on-campus events will wait a maximum of 5 minutes past the advertised shuttle time for residents signed up for shuttle service. If you are unsure of what time the shuttle will be picking you up for an event, call the IL Events Coordinator at 8241.

for your reading and entertainment pleasure. A

Now that it is officially Winter, the days are short, the skies are often gray, and the weather is cold. You can
