HPE Data ProtectorComprehensive data protection for the modern enterprise

Speaker’s Name

March 2016

Today’s backup reality

2

Too much data to be backed up

New workloads to be protected

Recovery needs are strict—resiliency is more important

Data on the edge can’t be left unprotected

Risk of being non-compliant are devastating

Datacenters are diverse and dynamic

IT Operations

• Lack of insight into

infrastructure utilization

• Lack of insight to resolve

system issues

• Lack of foresight into new

workload impacts

• Lack of scenario tools to

recommend future needs

Backup administrators

• Lack of confidence that new

information can be protected

• Lack of confidence that new

information can be recovered

• Lack of tools to analyze and

resolve emerging issues

• Lack of shared understanding

of what actions to take

• Lack of perception of long-

term trajectories of change

• Lack of decision-making

tools

• Lack of modeling to identify

future needs

• Lack of vision to mobilize

needed resources

47

Licensing

48

Two licensing models to choose from

– Traditional licensing – based on # of tape drives, application integrations, etc.

– Capacity based licensing – based on the number of terabytes (TB) of primary storage

– Licensing methods cannot be combined in the same Cell Manager or MoM

– Software encryption is the exception to this

– Customers with a traditionally licensed Cell Manager can utilize capacity based licensing for a separate Cell Manager

– Both licensing methods are valid for any size of environment

– Migration from traditional licensing to capacity based licensing currently isn’t supported

49

HPE Data Protector traditional licensing

• LTU for one cell manager

• Unlimited backup agents

• One drive LTU

• Built in media management

• Libraries up to 60 slots

• System disaster recovery

• Basic reporting

• SAN support

•OpenView integrations
