Knowing that……
How does one effectively use LED’s?
www.dasalindustries.com
Single Point LED’s
4W Vela and Draco
1W Ultra Compact
• Smaller Luminaire
• Visually Appealing
• Optically Easier to Control
• Easier to Thermally manage
www.dasalindustries.com
Multi Point LED’s as Downlights ?
• Collimator approach can cause multiple shadows
• Visually Unappealing
• LED’s from multiple bins resulting in various color
temperatures from LED to LED
• Using phosphor converted white LEDs necessitates usage of individual collimators
over each LED and a dedicated design
• If the LED count decreases because of increasing LED efficiency
then a new optical design will be necessary for the luminaire.
They are not “future proof”

If multi Point LED’s are not the answer….
WHAT IS??
for Higher Lumen output downlights….

XICATO Spot Module
Introducing the…
www.dasalindustries.com
Cold Phosphor Technology
Patent pending internal optical mixing cavity
(allowing reduction of LED count over time) Patent pending, “Cold Phosphor Technology”
Patented Thermal Design
The design of the Xicato Spot Module tackles these challenges and
results in a lighting solution without compromises
www.dasalindustries.com
How does it compare??
www.dasalindustries.com
Old Approach Conventional “ON-CHIP” Phosphor
• Each separate LED is covered with Phosphor layer
• Heat causes phoshpor to degrade
• Degrading phosphor causes color shift over time

Xicato Approach “Remote Phosphor”Technology
• Blue chip LED, most efficient.
• Phosphor layer stays cool, because its not “on-chip”
• No heat degradation = COLOR STABILITY
Xicato tested over 6000 hours, 1A and Tj
= 120℃

Remember this??
XICATO Modules
Stay within 2 McAdam Ellipses
www.dasalindustries.com
McAdam Ellipses (1,2,3,& 4)
• Xicato strives to maintain a consistent “bullseye” point
on the CIE 1931 diagram with it’s Xicato modules. ( ie focused around the 3000K point)
• All modules are within 2 McAdam Ellipses
This improves color consistency across
modules, ensuring that a job consisting of
multiple Xicato LED’s will maintain even,
uniform color across the job.

What does INCONSITSTENT COLOR look like in the REAL WORLD?
Over time, the color of each LED will shift,
due to the heat degradation of the
“on-chip” phosphor layer.

“The XICATO Spot Module puts an end to the colour variation issues which have
until now been a barrier for the market’s acceptance of LEDs.”
